George A. Romero’s 'DAY OF THE DEAD,' the apocalyptic final chapter of the ultimate zombie trilogy, returns to theatres & drive-ins for its 40th Anniversary! Since the film was first released in July 1985 and rolled out nationwide over the following months, it will be celebrating this seminal anniversary with shows across the country starting July 1, 2025, and running through October, 31st 2025 - HALLOWEEN! Find a screening near you at DAY40TH.com

Whole generations of horror lovers had never had the pleasure of viewing Romero’s zombie classics on the big screen, but in November 2021, Red Band Releasing started helping book the original DAWN OF THE DEAD into venues across U.S. and Canada, eventually getting it shown in both 2-D and 3-D on over 500 screens!

Now, in 2025, Red Band is thrilled for the opportunity to help fellow George A. Romero fans celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the original 'DAY OF THE DEAD' by seeing it as the legendary director intended - ON THE BIG SCREEN!

To find a screening near you check Red Band Releasing’s Blog at DAY40TH.COM for a list of dates and theatres that will be updated every few days starting in mid-June.

In addition, Red Band Releasing will be in attendance at the Living Dead Weekend at the Monroeville Mall starting Friday and will have the new 'DAY OF THE DEAD' and all the 'DAWN OF THE DEAD' posters available for purchase. The posters can be seen below:

If you don’t see a nearby screening listed at the site, we urge you to contact your local independent theatres or drive-ins and tell them you want to see 'DAY OF THE DEAD' on the big screen for it’s 40th anniversary by contacting us at RedBandReleasing@gmail.com for booking info. This grass-root campaigning for shows actually works! Last year we booked over 20 of the 100+ theatres spurred on by horror fans contacting their local venues!

DO NOT MISS this rare chance to experience the shocks of THE DARKEST DAY OF HORROR THE WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN - ON THE BIG SCREEN!

When first released in 1985, many horror fans weren’t ready for the bleaker, more nihilistic and grisly horrors of DAY, particularly not after the lighter, at times comedic, action/adventure of its predecessor DAWN OF THE DEAD. Some fans didn’t understands or appreciate the change of direction, but there were several who saw what George was doing under the surface, and over the years it has been re-watched, re-experienced and re-evaluated to the point where DAY OF THE DEAD is now seen by many as one of the greatest horror movies ever made!
