"Reassuring and a sweet aide-memoire of mellow jazz / trip hop and soulful R&B offerings by the likes of Morcheeba, Olive, Corinne Bailey Rae and Erykah Badu, albeit with an evident hip-hop element as well" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Deep, soulful, sincere and sexy, this is music for chilled wine or martinis, body groove and warm nights. This is both sensual and eloquent, also having a profound message from the prism of womanhood in the 21st century" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"What a little slice of Paradise sounds like on a summers day... a chill-pill, a R N B trip-hop, a neo-jazz excursion to a soul sanctuary, drifting towards pop pastures" ~ The Manc Review

"Utterly beautiful... chilled and cinematic, hushed and hazy, gorgeous and gentle" ~ The Swindonian

R&B/ Lo-Fi/ Chill hop duo Cravism x Maya Diegel release their 'Caryatid EP' on October 29. At the same time, they present videos for the singles 'Change Your Mind' and 'Hard Shoes', along with a live rendition of 'Hard Shoes', further showing the depth and weight of their seriously soulful artistic trajectory.

The 'Caryatid EP' was mixed by Thomas “Mister T.” Gloor at AKA-Studios in Switzerland and mastered by Hegar (D’ Angelo, KRS-One, Cody Chestnutt) at Fisheye Music in the USA.

With hues of Amy Winehouse and Kaiit, not to mention neck-breaking beat-drops, their sophomore project 'Caryatid EP' entails a series of songs and films from the Singaporean-French duo. This whole EP will warm your heart with its soulfulness and feeling of joyous nostalgia. A key message of this release surrounds loss and moving forward towards a life filled with joy and hopefulness.

The duo have also shared a live performance of their latest single-combo 'Ladies Night / 'Caryatid'. The official video for 'Ladies' Night' and 'Caryatid' was created by Arthur Etienne and Thibaut Vega. 'Ladies Night' is a dark, chilled and sexy track, while 'Caryatid' is comfortable, relaxing and groovy. Earlier, the duo released the lead single 'It's Okay', with soulful and jazzy textures laid over lush mellow jazz hip hop beats, transporting the listener into a chilled relaxing realm.

"Hard Shoes was inspired by the UK music scene. Written and recorded in Cornwall, this was one of the last songs Maya and I wrote together in the UK before we flew back to our hometowns. This song means a lot to me as it brings back all the memories we had when we were in the UK. The song starts off with just keys and vocals, just enough for you to vibe with. at 1:36 that's where the beat comes to change the entire mood of the song. There'll be a live version dropping a week after the release date," says Cravism.

Hailing from Paris and initially trained as a jazz singer, Maya Diegel's trajectory would take a big turn upon meeting Singaporean producer Cravism several years ago in Cornwall after his performance at the local university, Maya fell in love with Cravism's set and sought to collaborate. Impressed by Maya's capacity for writing high level melodies, harmonies and lyrics, their fateful meeting ultimately brought the 2019 release of their first collaborative album 'Vibes, vol. 2', which resulted in ample playlisting and radio interviews and ultimately secured them a record deal with Komplex Recordings.

With two albums and UK/Singapore tours prior to meeting Diegel, Cravism has always been immersed in hip-hop culture. A professional b-boy, Cravism began playing the piano and trumpet early, progressing into recording and producing. His music has been used in Berlin, Hong Kong, London, Mexico City, Milan, Moscow, Paris, and Seoul for the Adidas Originals Flagship Store. It has also been featured in many documentaries, including 'The Cuppa Depresso', 'Elevate the Streets', 'Dead was the Body' and others. Cravism was also the opening act for legendary Hip-hop trio Slum Village during "Dilla Week" in Falmouth 2019.

Maya Diegel explores different altitudes with her voice, drawing influences from Hip-Hop, RnB, Neo-soul, Jazz hop and funk. After graduating with a music bachelor in the UK in 2019, she has launched her music career, in addition to pursuing a career in the cooking world, her other great love. A born singer-songwriter, Diegel's style and delivery conjures emotions and atmosphere that make for an incredible experience.

'Change Your Mind' is now available everywhere online via UK-French label Komplex Recordings, including Apple Music and Spotify. The full 'Caryatid EP' will be released on October 29.

CRAVISM x MAYA DIEGEL (Singapore-France) chronicle 21st century womanhood on new 'Caryatid' & 'Ladies' Night' singles

"The waves they are dialing us into are both reassuring and a sweet aide-memoire of mellow jazz / trip hop and soulful R&B offerings by the likes of Morcheeba, Olive, Corinne Bailey Rae and Erykah Badu, albeit with an evident hip-hop element as well" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

R&B/ Lo-Fi/ Chill hop duo Cravism x Maya Diegel have announced two new singles - 'Ladies' Night' and 'Caryatid' - to be released via UK-French label Komplex Recordings on September 10. Heavily inspired by D'Angelo and Erykah Badu, these tracks preview their sophomore project 'Caryatid EP', which entails a series of songs and films from the Singaporean-French duo. 'Ladies Night' is a dark, chilled and sexy track, while 'Caryatid' is comfortable, relaxing and groovy.

"Cravis and I wrote 'Caryatid' at the beginning of 2020 in Taïwan and in Singapore. The day I heard it, I knew that I would want it to become the title track of our EP. In this series I try to transcribe experiences of different women that I’ve met and my own. ‘Caryatid’ is an evocative song that brings a warm cup of tea into the hands of its listener with its gentle neo-soul tones. Seductively haunting, ‘Ladies' Night’ sits the listener on a velvet couch lit by low, lusty lighting. Sonically inspired by Eryka Badu and from being a woman, we wanted the track to be chill, sexy and also provocative, questioning feminine stereotypes and asking - 'is this what you wanted'?", says Maya Diegel.

"With the videos we wanted to challenge the viewer with something a bit more direct than the songs themselves. We wrote the tracks to be chill and sexy, but the films bring out the critical side of our work. For me, part of being a performer is unavoidably being a female performer. Being looked at and having my appearance judged is something I have always been aware of, I think all women are. The film for Caryatid is meant to ask, ‘Is this what a woman is? Really?` and then the video for LadiesNight` answers the question."

The two singles are presented in a stunning video mix blending the two delectable tracks, created by Arthur Etienne and Thibaut Vega. Several weeks ago, the duo released the first single 'It's Okay' with soulful and jazzy textures laid over lush mellow jazz hip hop beats, transporting the listener into a chilled relaxing realm.

"Recorded in 2020 amidst the global pandemic from the comfort of our respective locations in Singapore and Paris, 'Caryatid' and 'Ladies' Night' were made in the basement studio of my university (LaSalle College of the Arts). It was honestly made out of procrastination. I was meant to finish my dissertation but I kept on procrastinating, making beats. I had a chord progression voicing stuck in my head for the longest time; I finally then decided to lay it out with a beat. The two songs create a nice juxtaposition, which is why we decided to drop these two together," says Cravism.

Their new EP was mixed by Thomas “Mister T.” Gloor at AKA-Studios in Switzerland and mastered by Hegar (D’ Angelo, KRS-One, Cody Chestnutt) at Fisheye Music in the USA.

Singapore-France R&B/ Chill hop duo CRAVISM x MAYA DIEGEL release single 'It's Okay'

"A tune to knock your socks off... This certainly numbers among the best pop tracks we've heard so far this year" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

R&B/ Lo-Fi/ Chill hop duo Cravism x Maya Diegel have announced their single 'It's Okay', a soulful poptastic offering, which will be released via UK-French label Komplex Recordings on August 20. Accompanied by a film by Parisien video director Stewart Livinec, this is the first taste of their sophomore project 'Caryatid EP', entailing a series of songs and films. With smooth jazz textures laid over lush mellow jazz hip hop beats, the listener is transported into a chilled relaxing realm.

Recorded in their respective home countries, their new album was mixed by Thomas “Mister T.” Gloor at AKA-Studios in Switzerland and mastered by Stefan Hegar (D’ Angelo, KRS-One, Cody Chestnutt) at Fisheye Music in the USA.

“This track started off in one of the basement rooms in Lasalle back in August 2019. It was another practice beat that I made and didn’t really think much about it for months until the first lockdown came. Maya was experiencing lockdown in Paris as well, so I sent her a couple of tracks to write on and she recorded them and sent the back to me to mix,” says Cravism.

“When writing this song, I was picturing what I would say to someone that I love who is going through a difficult time in their lives, I wanted to give the audience a feeling of comfort and calm. In this song I am telling the person that is in front of me that they can open up to me about anything that is troubling them. This song to me is pure love. Overall, the album is about part of my experience of being a woman and I thought that this song would add something to the theme of the album, vulnerability," says Maya Diegel.

Having released two instrumental albums before meeting Diegel and touring the UK and Singapore, Cravism has always been immersed in the hip-hop culture. Besides being a professional b-boy, Cravism began playing the piano and trumpet early on, which progressed into recording and producing his own music.
