Miranda Lambert & MuttNation Foundation Create Idyllwind Award to Honor Equine Rescues

Country music icon and animal advocate Miranda Lambert announces the inaugural Idyllwind Award, to be administered by her MuttNation Foundation, honoring Lucky Break Rescue in Arizona with a $25,000 donation. The Idyllwind Award, named after Lambert’s first horse, Idyllwind Ellund, will annually recognize an outstanding U.S. equine rescue or sanctuary that rehabilitates and/or rehomes horses that have been neglected, abused or abandoned, while also educating the public about the difficult conditions these horses face.

Lambert spoke about MuttNation and the Idyllwind Award at the recent taping of the Boot Barn: VOICELESS fashion show, premiering on Roku December 15 and airing on Hulu in early 2025. Boot Barn is the exclusive retailer of Lambert’s Idyllwind clothing and boot line.

“We’re so excited to be adding this new award to our MuttNation programs,” she shares. “The strong bond that horses form with people is one of the most magical – and caring for horses that have been mistreated takes a very special kind of person. Cait Luca, who started Lucky Break Rescue, is one of the most special I’ve ever known. Her rescue is the perfect choice for this first Idyllwind Award.”

Lambert, widely known as a passionate and celebrated animal advocate, has championed shelter pets her entire life. Her deep affinity and love for horses grew more serious when she began showing in 2014. In 2024, she won a Blue Ribbon at the 2024 Oklahoma State Fair for her Gypsy Vanner horses. She currently owns 7 horses, two mini horses, two dogs, and several cats, goats and chickens.

The Idyllwind Award is administered by the MuttNation Foundation, a donation-supported 501c3 nonprofit.

Miranda Lambert's MuttNation & Tractor Supply Announce 2024 Relief for Rescues Fundraiser

Three-time GRAMMY award winner and New York Times best-selling author Miranda Lambert and Tractor Supply Company (NASDAQ: TSCO)  announce the 2nd annual Relief For Rescues fundraising event. Today through January 21st, Tractor Supply customers can donate at checkout at any Tractor Supply store, online at TractorSupply.com or via the Tractor Supply mobile app. The fund provides critical support to shelter pets during times of natural disaster.

“Helping shelters and shelter pets recover from a natural disaster is part of our MuttNation mission,” said Lambert. “And partnering with Tractor Supply stores across the country for our annual Relief For Rescues fundraiser, along with the support from the tens of thousands of animal-loving people who donate to our cause this week, allows us to provide critical assistance immediately – where it’s needed, when it’s needed.”

Funds raised during the 2023 Relief for Rescues event were distributed after the fires in Hawaii; tornadoes in Texas,  Mississippi and Tennessee; and flooding in Ohio, California’s Central Valley and Rhode Island.

“We have always focused on supporting our communities in crisis, so when Miranda and the MuttNation team alerted us to the needs of shelter animals during and after natural disasters, we jumped in,” said Kimberley Gardiner, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer at Tractor Supply. “Relief for Rescues provides the means for these pets to be shepherded to safety, especially when shelters are unable to. We are so proud to be a part of this important work and are excited to host another Relief for Rescues fundraising event to generate further support.”

This year’s Relief for Rescues fundraiser will coincide with Tractor Supply’s Pet Appreciation Days, which feature special deals on pet food, treats, toys and accessories, including MuttNation pet products, exclusively available at Tractor Supply. Tractor Supply has introduced several new MuttNation items for 2024, including a Southwest-inspired dog tent with travel bag, a cactus waste bag dispenser with a built-in light, a heavy-duty water-and weather-resistant cement dog bowl and more. A percentage of all MuttNation sales go to the MuttNation Foundation to further support its mission to promote and facilitate adoption of shelter pets. MuttNation Foundation Announces Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grant

MuttNation Foundation proudly announces the Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grant, in honor of three-time GRAMMY award winner and New York Times best-selling author Miranda Lambert, who co-founded the celebrated nonprofit with her mother, Bev Lambert, in 2009. MuttNation Foundation’s mission is to advance the adoption of shelter pets, promote spay and neuter and assist during times of natural disaster.

The Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grant is awarded in the spirit of giving a “paw” up to an organization that has recently opened after proving they’ve done the hard work necessary to achieve lift-off. The inaugural Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grants were awarded to two Tennessee organizations: Crossroads Campus and Wags & Walks.

“So many great people were there for me when I was getting started, people who believed in what I was doing, and it meant so much to me,” said Lambert. “I’m proud to be able to be there now, for some of the great organizations that are just getting off the ground. I know how much passion and hard work goes into it – it starts as a dream and the work is rewarding… and endless. I have so much respect for the people who make it happen.”

Crossroads Campus, located in Nashville, partners young adults who face barriers to employment and housing, including young people who have aged out of foster care, with shelter pets at risk for euthanasia. The youth reside on the north Nashville ‘campus’ and pay rent based on their income. In addition to caring for homeless pets awaiting adoption, they are also provided with career guidance and the opportunity to work at Crossroads in a variety of capacities, including learning pet grooming skills.

Wags & Walks, which has opened its new adoption facility in Hermitage, Tenn., has helped find homes for over 3,500 dogs since it first opened its Nashville operation as a rescue in 2019. Now a full-fledged adoption center, Wags & Walks houses up to 100 dogs between their adoption center and foster homes as they prepare for their new forever homes. Wags & Walks is focused on advocating for wrongfully stereotyped bully breeds, medical dogs and mothers with puppies that are often overlooked and at-risk due to overcrowding.

The Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grant was created by the MuttNation Foundation Board of Directors to help more pets and the people and organizations who care for them while honoring Lambert’s lifetime of love and dedication to animals. There is no application process for the Miranda Lambert New Shelter Grant; recipients are selected by the Board of Directors.

Three-time GRAMMY Award winner and New York Times best-selling author Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation has awarded 48 Tennessee organizations with more than $175,000 in grants through the It Takes Balls campaign, launched earlier this year to raise awareness for the importance of spay and neuter with a focus on rural areas.

“We’ve been so excited by the great response we received to our new spay and neuter program and know that the organizations we’re supporting with ‘It Takes Balls’ grants will make a meaningful difference in helping curb pet homelessness across Tennessee,” said Lambert.
