FALLUJAH Releases New Single "Embrace Oblivion"

Bay Area masters of atmospheric technical death metal FALLUJAH have revealed the next single, "Embrace Oblivion," featuring Katie Thompson, from the band's eagerly awaited 5th studio album, "Empyrean," that's out September 9th via Nuclear Blast.

Watch the visualizer for "Embrace Oblivion" below.

Commenting on the single, vocalist Kyle Schaefer says:

"'Embrace Oblivion' is about accepting change on a personal level, and trusting in your ability to adapt and grow from events that may seem destructive in the short-term. Sometimes we need to break down our own established structures in order to build something better in their place."

FALLUJAH emerges, post-pandemic, revitalized as they explore new sonic realms and revisit elements of style executed on early records. With an overhauled lineup that includes primary songwriter/guitarist Scott Carstairs and compeer/drummer Andrew Baird and newly added vocalist Kyle Schaefer(Archaeologist) and bassist Evan Brewer (formerly Entheos/The Faceless), FALLUJAH are at a creative peak that's nearly unmatched in modern death metal.

About FALLUJAH:
Tech-metal outfit Fallujah intensify their metallic dynamism on stunning new album, "Empyrean." Built on an “all killer, no filler” maxim, the Bay Area-based quartet delivered just that on album number five. From video single “Radiant Ascension” and “Embrace Oblivion” to “Soulbreaker” and “Mindless Omnipotent Master,” "Empyrean" is breathtaking in atmospheric expanse and impressive in sophistication. Fallujah’s overhauled lineup has contributed massively to the level-up on display. Primary songwriter/guitarist Scott Carstairs and compeer/drummer Andrew Baird enlisted Archaeologist’s Kyle Schaefer and Evan Brewer (formerly Entheos/The Faceless) as their new vocalist and bassist, respectively.

Since forming in 2007, Fallujah have triumphed over their challenges. Whether it’s self-administering the band, going to school, writing music, or working full-time, they’ve savored release of and diehard fan admiration for five albums in "The Harvest Wombs" (2011), "The Flesh Prevails" (2014), "Dreamless" (2016), "Undying Light" (2019), and their latest "Empyrean." Indeed, diligence and creative enterprise have resulted in high-profile tours with Whitechapel, Suffocation, The Black Dahlia Murder, and more across North America, Europe, and Australia. Fallujah also prospered with critics in Metal Hammer, Allmusic and Metalsucks. The group’s Billboard chart positions on the Top Hard Rock Albums and Heatseekers Albums prove that with every twist and turn, Fallujah’s fans are with them. "Empyrean," with its revivalist spikes, bolstered atmospherics and high-powered production, is the greatest yet.

"Empyrean" is a specialist’s paradise. As a rhythm/lead player, Carstairs enters a league of his own. Tracks like “The Bitter Taste of Clarity,” “Radiant Ascension,” and “Eden’s Lament” illustrate he’s upped his chops and boosted the emotional outlay. Throughout, he’s careful about compositional placement and how his radiant, palliative leads complement Fallujah’s sapid landscape. Drummer Baird tastefully and aggressively holds down the fort, grooving and syncopating admirably on “Radiant Ascension,” “Embrace Oblivion,” and “Mindless Omnipotent Master.” Fallujah’s long-standing timekeeper has always been great, but on "Empyrean," he’s superior. Right there with him is recently joined bassist Evan Brewer, thundering and bopping on, around, and against Baird’s foundation like a seasoned prizefighter. “Duality of Intent” is but one of Brewer’s standouts. Although known for his guitar work outside of Fallujah, newcomer vocalist Kyle Schaefer’s low-end and mid-range bark perfectly matches the existential threat-themed lyrics.

Throughout "Empyrean," Fallujah surprise. Musically, lyrically, and with their bevy of guests, they add hard-to-describe depth and musical import. Vocalist Tori Letzler (Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice) reprises her angelic role on “Radiant Ascension” and “Artifacts,” while Chiasma’s Katie Thompson also reappears to elevate “Embrace Oblivion” and “Into the Eventide.” Chaney Crabb of Entheos and Cyborg Octopus’s David Wu tender their considerable talents on “Mindless Omnipotent Master” and “Duality of Intent,” respectively. Celebrated artist Peter Mohrbacher (Serenity in Murder, Rainbowdragoneyes) replays his role on "Empyrean" as well. Truly, this is an all-star cast appearing on a momentous album by a band reaching beyond.

From the beginning of this writing process and until the end, we painstakingly made sure every aspect of this record would blow away our listeners,” states Carstairs. “We meticulously scrutinized every riff and note choice. There has never been this much effort put into a Fallujah record as we did with 'Empyrean,' and the result is a truly monstrous record that we believe is the band’s best work by a significant margin. We showed you restraint on the last record. Now, let us show you what happens when we leave it all on the table.

Venture into Fallujah’s exosphere on "Empyrean." They’re waiting for you.

About Dance Gavin Dance

Rejecting tired formulas at every step, Dance Gavin Dance merge progressive rock and post-hardcore with thick groove, brilliantly combining experimental music with hooks and a warped sense of humor. The group has amassed over 1.4 billion global streams, and 1.2 million album equivalent units sold across their catalog in the US alone. With hundreds of thousands of rabid fans engaged with Dance Gavin Dance on socials and their very own festival event, Swanfest, which sold out its inaugural edition in 2019 and is slated to see a triumphant return in 2022 in the band's hometown of Sacramento this April, it all amounts to a full force band facing a mainstream that has overlooked them for too long.

Dance Gavin Dance released their ninth studio album, Afterburner, in April of 2020. Since its release, the album has clocked up 135 million streams and topped a multitude of charts on two separate occasions, once with it’s digital release hitting #14 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 across the Current Albums, Alternative, Billboard Top Albums, Digital, Current Digital Albums, Rock, Heavy Rock and Current Independent Albums charts and again when the physical version was released several months later due to the pandemic, when it hit #1 across Vinyl, Internet, Alternative, Rock, Hard Music, Independent Current Albums, #3 Top Current and Billboard Top Albums and #47 on the Billboard 200 charts. This past Christmas, the band surprised fans with a special holiday gift by dropping ‘Afterburner (Instrumental) on streaming platforms. It was previously only available via a Target exclusive double disc CD.

The Afterburner 2021 US Tour, although being one of the first coast-to-coast indoor tours to hit the road post-pandemic, was successfully completed and saw Dance Gavin Dance sell a whopping 78,500 tickets across 33 shows making it the band's biggest tour to date.

As the undeniable statistics keep mounting up, the fact becomes more and more clear that Dance Gavin Dance are becoming one of this generation's most popular and enduring forces from the world of heavy music. As Pollstar put it in their recent featureon the huge success of the tour - "Sacramento, Calif.-based Dance Gavin Dance is not just any band."

“Thank YOU for your beautiful music.” – Kim Wilde

Today BMG release ‘Let Me Know’, the second single to be taken from Gilbert O’Sullivan’s twentieth studio album, Driven, out July 22nd.

The accompanying video was mixed with an immersive 360 Reality Audio experience in mind and is available to watch on headphones. The full album will be available in 360 Reality Audio on July 22nd on Amazon Music Unlimited, Deezer and Tidal. 360 Reality Audio, an immersive music experience utilising Sony’s Spatial Sound technology. This allows individual sounds to be placed in a 360 spherical sound field giving the listener a unique opportunity to enjoy some of their favorite songs like never before. *See below for more information.

One of Driven’s instantly memorable standouts, ‘Let Me Know’ finds Gilbert in reflective mood on a song that recalls the first decade of his career, in which he resisted serious relationships for fear that it might have an effect on his songwriting. “But I also like the idea of having a song in which the guy says to the girl, if your heart’s not in it anymore, don’t worry about me. I’ll be ok.”

‘Let Me Know’ is taken from Gilbert’s new album Driven, which follows his acclaimed Ethan Johns-produced, self-titled 2018 album which was awarded 4-stars in MOJO magazine. The thirteen songs that comprise Driven reveal a songwriter whose ability to sniff out hitherto undiscovered sources of low-hanging melodic fruit is keener than ever. Produced by Andy Wright and recorded with a live band at the legendary RAK studios, the unexpected velocity at which the songs came together bears testament to the instant chemistry generated between O’Sullivan, Wright and a house band featuring Pat Murdoch (Beyonce, Simply Red, Chrissie Hynde), Rich Milner (Morcheeba, James Morrison) and Geoff Holdroyde (Take That, Big Linda).

The album features duets with Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall on ‘Take Love’ and big fan and Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall on ‘Let Bygones Be Bygones’. Gilbert’s extraordinary ability for exploring the human condition is exemplified on ‘Hey Man’; on ‘Body and Mind’, we’re presented an adhesively catchy audit of blessings which takes the form of an internal dialogue about its protagonist’s lifetime lover. More topical issues are explored in ‘You and Me Babe’, where Gilbert juxtaposes the things that make our lives meaningful against the turbulence of the world at large, with a subtle reference to climate change. Whilst, framed by an exquisitely tender string arrangement, ‘If Only Love Had Ears’ is, by any metric, one of the most beautiful songs to bear O’Sullivan’s name.

Reflective songs come in the form of the aforementioned ‘Let Me Know’ – and another instantly memorable standout on Driven – ‘Blue Anchor Bay’, which finds him reflecting upon simpler times, retreating to his teenage years in Swindon and the regular school trips which would see him and his friends head out to the Somerset beach immortalised in the song’s title.

At its core, Driven is an album that offers a nuanced portrait man reaffirming his own values and sense of self in an increasingly chaotic world. Never a conventional songwriter, he perhaps conforms to the description of a British chansonnier, praised by none other than Lenny Kaye – rock scholar and guitarist with the Patti Smith Group – for “songs [that] are artfully constructed, lyrically original with a fine sense of filigree detail.” As with Paul McCartney and the young Harry Nilsson – two songwriters for whom he retains a huge fondness – Gilbert O’Sullivan’s reach extends beyond the parameters of rock’n’roll.

Based on the album biography by Pete Paphides, available on request.

Driven will be available on:
Limited Edition Clear LP
Black LP
Digipak CD
Tape Cassette (D2C only)
Blu ray (SDE exclusive)
Digital: SD, HD, UHD and immersive formats (360 Reality Audio and Dolby Atmos)

NOTES
Gilbert O’Sullivan’s career has spanned 50 years. His first single proper ‘Nothing Rhymed’ was released in 1970 and almost overnight it achieved Top 10 status In the UK charts. His debut album Himself was littered with the most perfect examples of his art and craftsmanship. Top 10 singles abounded, including the classic, Alone Again (Naturally). His second album, 1972’s Back To Front, firmly cemented Gilbert amongst the world’s best. This critically acclaimed album topped both the UK and US charts for an astonishing six weeks, earning him not one but three Grammy nominations.

British recognition soon followed with the songs ‘Clair’ and ‘Get Down’ reaching the summit of the UK singles charts and his LP Back To Front topping the album charts. In the same year at the 18th Ivor Novello Awards Gilbert was named ‘Song Writer of the Year’. To date he has won three Ivor Novello awards, and in recent times performed alongside artists including Ray Davies. He has also headlined Glastonbury (where he was once joined on stage by Squeeze’s Glenn Tilbrook), BBC Proms In The Park, toured extensively throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe, Japan and Australia.

His last album, 2018’s Gilbert O’Sullivan, was acclaimed across the UK media and achieved Gilbert’s highest UK Album Chart position in almost 45 years.

His legacy and influence has been acknowledged by a diverse range of artists, including: Paul Weller, Nina Simone, Neil Diamond, James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Ron Sexsmith, Har Mar Superstar, Mick Hucknall, Gary Barlow, Boy George, Rumer, The Lemon Twigs and Empire Of The Sun.

Incredibly, fifty years have elapsed since Gilbert O’Sullivan found himself celebrating a six-week run at the top of the U.S. Billboard Chart with ‘Alone Again Naturally’ – the song which prompted America to commence an improbable love affair with this Irish-born, yet most British of singer-songwriters. The song has been covered live by artists including Neil Diamond, Nina Simone, Pet Shop Boys and Elton John. It’s perhaps no surprise that ensuing generations of acclaimed artists – including Paul Weller, Squeeze and The Lemon Twigs – proudly count themselves as Gilbert O’Sullivan fans. Other notable admirers include Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), who personally invited him to host two of his legendary Twitter Listening Parties.

Extreme Melodic Death Metal Unit DEFACING GOD Announce New Album, “The Resurrection of Lilith”, out September 2

Extreme Melodic Death Metal Upstarts DEFACING GOD Announce New Album, The Resurrection of Lilith, out September 2 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order NOW!

The rising force of occult Melodic Death Metal with their impressively grand debut!

Extreme melodic death metal upstarts DEFACING GOD command notice with their hauntingly dark and refreshingly honest debut album, The Resurrection of Lilith, set for release on September 2, 2022 via Napalm Records. The record marks a multifaceted, grim and bludgeoning escape that spans the arc between raw death metal and symphonic grandiosity with ease, showcasing DEFACING GOD’s ambition to bewitch metal fans around the world with their sonic universe.

With their conceptual themes, the Denmark based outfit focuses on the seeping darkness that moves in us all – rooted in occultism and witchcraft, but primarily the mythologically mysterious female demon Lilith and her tales of fervent defiance and perseverance.

Opening this infernal chapter, DEFACING GOD have unveiled their first single, “Rise of the Trinity”, along with a fiery official music video. The track ascends into a doom-tinged introduction, soon transforming into a blackened opus carried by the fierce growls of stand-out vocalist Sandie ‘The Lilith’ Gjørtz. Engulfing symphonics and a captivating guitar solo keep pressing ahead, resulting in an epic anthem celebrating feminist power and sisterhood!

DEFACING GOD on the song:

“The message of 'Rise of the Trinity' is to catch up on the three previous tracks, ‘the invocations’ and bind them together – This track reunites the sisters of blood and flesh (Abyzou, Jezebel and Lilith) the three of us shall set our essence free and together we shall make a closure and take back our pride. The trinity is the kind of catalysator who speaks for all our cremated sisters - fellow witches who never got a voice through times and history. Strong and wise women have been slaughtered, molested, executed and abused, just because the herd were scared of their wisdom and free spirit. This trinity is the voice of rebellion and revenge in the name of the fallen and a strong message that we stand stronger if we stand together.”

Join the cult and watch the video for “The Rise of Trinity”

Through their storytelling, music and aesthetic, the band pulls their listeners into a dark universe of obscure myths, folklore and ancient stories, all the while weaving in often subtle lyrical inspirations from modern societal oppressions and personal demons. Sonically, DEFACING GOD balance massive extreme melodies with a twist of grandiose orchestration by Lars Vinther, echoing the styles of artists such as Cradle of FilthCarach Angren and Dimmu Borgir. But rather than blend it with a conventional dose of black metal, the band proudly merges these auras with infernal death metal. Additionally, The Resurrection Of Lilith was produced by Jacob Hansen – known for his work with Fleshgod ApocalypseVolbeatEvergreyEpica and countless others.

DEFACING GOD state:

“The stories draw parallels to the ancient, but also the present world where many people (Lilith ́s point of view: women) still have to fight for their freedom and justice. A world where there are still people being oppressed and held down either because of their gender, ethnicity or their personal conviction. We are enslaved by society in so many ways that it ́s even hard to imagine and to comprehend. Furthermore, ‘Lilith’ speaks up for strong bonds, exactly like the one we're having in the metal community. The mission for Lilith, is to send out a message saying that we are stronger if we truly stand together and with being free and with the right mindset, we can change the world.

In the name of art there should no boundaries and everyone should have the freedom to be their own independent self, to explore and to express as they desire without being judged or oppressed.”

Pre-order DEFACING GOD's debut The Resurrection Of Lilith NOW!

The album arises with a cinematic, chanting introduction, leading the listener into the demonic world of DEFACING GOD. Building up tension to release into an uncompromising melodic, orchestral death metal assault on “The Invocation Part I “Lilith””, the track emerges as the first of three songs introducing female forces of legend as a trinity to be reckoned with – the first being Lilith, Adam’s first wife, who refused to obey and now reigns as a symbol of feminine rage and independency, but also for the darkness found within oneself. Bookending the undeniably strong “The Resurrection” are parts two and three – “The Invocation Part II “Jezebel”” and “The Invocation Part III “Abyzou”” – which lead into “The Rise of Trinity”. The remainder of The Resurrection of Lilith proves to be an auditory onslaught of epic proportions, seeing DEFACING GOD unleash their supreme power and full songwriting dynamics with varying yet unrelentingly hard-hitting tracks like “The End of Times”, “Echoes From Fulda”, “Death Followed Like a Plague” and “Enslaved”. Penultimate track “In the Land of Rain and Sorrow” blasts with a blackened, dense wall of sound before the album closes with encapsulating, symphonic “Into the Mist of Memories” – featuring a neo-classically inspired guitar solo.

The Resurrection of Lilith will be available in the following formats:

Houser’s Sixth Studio Album Note To Self Set for November 11 as Title Track Climbs the Charts at Country Radio

Following the announcement of his sixth studio album Note To Self, Mississippi native Randy Houser will host the Homecoming Golf & Concert event benefitting the Nikki Mitchell Foundation August 14-15 at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, MGM Resort International’s iconic waterfront destination resort in Biloxi, Miss. Tickets are on sale now, and every attending ticket holder will also receive a $50 gift card to Icey-Tek Coolers.

The Nikki Mitchell Foundation’s mission is to provide comfort and relief to those affected by pancreatic cancer while raising awareness and searching for a cure.

“I’m honored to host this event benefitting The Nikki Mitchell Foundation,” shares Houser. “I always look forward to an opportunity to give back, and to be able to support this foundation along with so many of my friends means a lot to me.”

“Randy is an integral part of the Nikki Mitchell Foundation’s Artist Board,” shares NMF Director of Development Christa Bowles. “Although he has performed at more NMF shows than we can count, this will be his first time hosting an event for the foundation. We could not be more grateful to have such a generous, caring and talented board member as our Homecoming host.”

As the title track climbs the charts at Country radio, Houser recently announced his plans to release new album Note To Self on November 11 via Magnolia Music Group, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2019’s critically acclaimed Magnolia. Produced by Houser and Blake Chancey, Note To Self features 10 tracks all co-written by the powerhouse vocalist. Pre-order and pre-save HERE.

“Blake and I worked on this record a long time, and I’m really looking forward to sharing the rest of it with the folks who’ve already shown how excited they are for new music,” says the man dubbed as “one of the best voices in the genre” by Rolling Stone.

“This album came together at a time when I was reflecting on who I am and what’s important to me, envisioning the kind of future I’d like to see for myself and my family,” Houser elaborates.

Lead single “Note To Self” marked Houser’s “powerful return” with MusicRow boasting he “remains one of country music’s very finest vocalists. His return is most welcome, especially with such a strong song of regretful hindsight. His extraordinary voice is absolutely fierce as this hair-raising pile driver reaches its climax.”

Album opener “Still That Cowboy” was written by Houser, Matt Rogers and Josh Hoge as an ode to his wife Tatiana as the couple prepares for their second child together, with CMT.com sharing “Houser has never been afraid to sing country music, and ‘Still That Cowboy’ spotlights the genre’s tenets as much as anything Houser has ever released. His baritone rings against the backdrop of the pedal steel guitar as he delivers the song written for his wife.”

Written by Houser with Randy Montana, “Workin’ Man” illuminates the tenacity and persistence of America’s blue-collar workers among the struggles they face day-to-day to support themselves and their families, with Billboardpraising, “Houser yields his enviable vocals with a rough-hewn delivery that lends grit to this radio-friendly track.”

With multiple sold-out shows so far in 2022, including an at-capacity stop at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Houser wrapped his co-headlining tour with longtime friend Jamey Johnson in April and heads back out on the road this summer for a slew of headlining shows, festival dates and select performances with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cody Johnson and Travis Tritt. Along with preparing new music and a relentless touring schedule, Houser landed on-screen roles in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and more, as well as the inspiring The Hill starring Dennis Quaid.

LA Grammy-winning producer RICH JACQUES debuts 'Everything Must Change' EP + video

"Singer/songwriter Rich Jacques' earnest and atmospheric compositions echo those of pop giants like Neil Finn, Michael Penn, and Ron Sexsmith" ~ AllMusic

"Ethereal yet grounded, this song ranks up there with the best tracks of 2022 thus far, not surprising given that Rich Jacques has mastered the songwriting craft so well, his compositions attesting to this fact time and again" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Rich’s smooth vocals and detailed imagery create an escape from real life"~ Music Injection

"Meditative, engaging, and cinematic with a focus on intimate vocals set against a lush soundscape... soft-spoken folk pop" ~ Chillfiltr

"Takes you to a parallel dreamy world - powerful, heartwarming and soulful" ~ Sweet + Sour

LA-based singer-songwriter and Grammy-winning producer Rich Jacques presents his new single 'Everything Must Change', previewing his new EP by the same name, taking the listener through his soothing sonic world. Instantly accessible, this feels like an intimate conversation with an old friend.

At the song’s heart is a sense of life-affirming gratitude and a wave of sonic love and appreciation. Wonderfully beguiling, this song is uplifting amidst dark times as politics, environmental concerns and Covid-related weigh on everyone’s minds.

The EP's six tracks exhibit gentle majesty and lyrical poignancy; six new soundscapes to explore, making for one beautiful collection of music. Previously, Rich Jacques released the gorgeous and gentle tracks 'Montecito', 'Can You See it', and 'New Design'. This music is warm and honest in its understated charm.

Underlining the restraint from which Jacques fashions his deft and delicate music, the message here is clear as you journey through the music. Change is the only constant.

“This EP was mostly written and produced from 2020 to late 2021 right in the heart of the pandemic. A lot changed for myself, as it did for mostly everyone. It gave me a new perspective on what I was doing out of habit, and what really inspired me. The one thing that’s ultimately true in life is change. Whatever is happening, good or bad, it’s going to move on," says Rich Jacques.

The solitude of lockdown led him to reflect on his life, realizing that many of the fundamental choices he's made have been based on old habits. A health scare, a change of location and the chance to build his life anew and re-engage with the world, drop old habits and explore new inspirations saw him emerge from this period of his life a changed man. This new EP is the musical document of that period.

Producer, songwriter, guitarist and artist - Rich's envious set of skills has led him to work with a host of notable musicians and to create music for all manner of media projects. Since moving to LA twenty years ago, he's worked with such luminaries as Lisa Loeb, for which he won a Grammy in 2017, and Men at Work’s Colin Hay, his music also being featured in such iconic shows as 'Grey’s Anatomy', 'One Tree Hill' and 'The Vampire Diaries'.

Jacques cut his teeth in the late '90s as a member of Sire Records' alternative rock outfit Brownie Mary and was later a member of 80’s infused alt-pop band Right The Stars, who released three critically and commercially well-received albums. He is also one-half of the songwriting/production team Aalta.

This project as a solo artist comes from a very personal place. Unexpectedly, for someone who understands the art of big, instantaneous and infectious music, Jacques uses only a few core components (guitar and vocals) and few additional musical details to create wonderfully emotive, spacious and drifting music.

As of July 8, the 'Everything Must Change' EP will be released via Cousteau Records and available digitally across the net, including Apple Music and Spotify. It can be pre-ordered / pre-saved at https://apple.co/3ym8Bo8.

Keep up with Rich Jacques

OBSIDIOUS Releases Spanish Version of "Sense of Lust"

Modern progressive metal band OBSIDIOUS is now releasing the Spanish version of their recent single, ‘"Sense of Lust!" The vocal take was done in one shot and can be found HERE!

The track is taken from the band’s upcoming debut album, ‘Iconic,’ which will be released on October 28, 2022 via Season of Mist. Stay tuned for more info!

OBSIDIOUS vocalist Javi Perera comments,

"I am aware that there are many fans of the band from Spanish-speaking countries. So I, as a Spanish speaker, felt a moral obligation to offer this gift to our Hispanic fan base, which is not small. Besides, it was an idea that had been on my mind for quite some time with this song, but I preferred to give it time to settle down and let the fans get used to the original song."

Pre-save 'Iconic' HERE.

In April 2020 guitarist Rafael Trujillo, bassist Linus Klausenitzer and drummer Sebastian Lanser decided to move on from their former band OBSCURA to continue their musical path with the completely new band OBSIDIOUS. Free from former boundaries, OBSIDIOUS merge extreme metal with other genres of music into a unique style that people will somehow find familiar, but haven‘t heard yet. Together with their singer Javi Perera they set out to create a musical evolution: With a fresh name, reaching for new fan groups utilizing modern marketing ideas. OBSIDIOUS’ band members have many facets and influences to build upon, using virtuosity & technique to write great songs.

Rafael Trujillo, Linus Klausenitzer and Sebastian Lanser built a strong bond after years of worldwide touring and recording together with OBSCURA. With their last record “Diluvium”, that was primarily composed by the trio, the band celebrated their biggest success to date. Formerly unseen chart positions alongside massive praise by prominent media outlets & magazines document the success of this team. OBSIDIOUS aims to expand the existing fan base that they’ve gained: All (ex-)formations of the Obsidious members were defined through their musical characters.

The four band members that are based in Europe are known for their high musicianship and virtuosity. Their advanced technical level is an essential and unique part of their compositions. Guitarist Rafael Trujillo has a multicultural background and studied music in different countries all around the globe. Linus Klausenitzer is one of the busiest session bassists in the scene and renowned for his 7-string fretless bass sound. Strong drum independence skills and stylistic diversity make Sebastian Lanser one of the most influential drummers of the new generation. The web community shares the Ex-Obscura members’ excitement about singer Javi Perera being celebrated for his diverse and charismatic vocal skills.

OBSIDIOUS' music consists of modern riffs, strong decisive energetic melodies, virtuosity and epic unison lines. They love music that’s heavy, catchy, fast, and wild. The brand new album is currently being recorded and will be released via Season of Mist early 2022.

MIKEY ROTTEN Drops Explosive New EP 'Hardly Human'! Watch New Music Video, "Demonstrate" with XAVIER WULF, NOW!

Hot off of a SOLD OUT national tour, antagonistic punk rapper MIKEY ROTTEN has unleashed his newest rogue auditory project, Hardly Human. Led by the darkly enticing single and music video "Demonstrate," featuring underground legend XAVIER WULF and shot by GREG LEWIS, KILLSHOT, and THE REEL MJ & QUINTIN LAMB, the VOLT produced Hardly Human is the summer detonation bound to terrify parents and inflame fans throughout 2022!

‘Demonstrate' is about setting the bar higher than the rest and pushing the boundaries for yourself and no one else. It's about doing it your way, and showing others that they can do it for themselves as well - MIKEY ROTTEN

Click to Buy / Stream 'Hardly Human' Online

Mikey Rotten is everything your parents warned you about. The ferocious punk rapper is a rogue and a force to be reckoned with like few others, a devil-may-care, non-conforming bad boy with a striking look and a singular vision. But what’s maybe most threatening to the establishment about Mikey Rotten is his never-ending drive to challenge authority. More than just rebelling or raging, Mikey Rotten wants his listeners to question everything about the world around us: the rules we’re ordered to follow, the media pumped into our minds, even what we put in our bodies. His music may not be straightforwardly political or intend to deliver a specific agenda, but he’s always pushing back against the systems and structures that want us to conform, and driving his audience to do the same.

In his own words, Mikey Rotten was “born in the swamp, raised in the gutter, and now living out in West Coast paradise.” Conceived in backwoods Louisiana, he came of age amidst the almost post-apocalyptic desolation of the Midwest, and now makes his name in a city of fallen angels. Growing up, when Mikey wasn’t finding trouble on his own, trouble seemed destined to find him, and he’s got a whole movie’s worth of stories even crazier than Kids. But whenever a barrier was put in the way, Mikey blasted through it like a charging bull. Whenever he was told no or boxed in or counted out, he became single-mindedly determined to prove the doubters and naysayers wrong.

The energy Mikey once devoted to less-than-legal behavior now finds an outlet in his music, which is equally chaotic and cathartic, a soundtrack for stressed-out and struggling people fighting their way out of difficult situations, just like Mikey has had to do. The wild journey he’s taken to where he is now is also part of why Mikey Rotten remains so relentlessly true to himself and critical of the powers that be. When you’ve spent so much of your life being told who you are and what’s expected of you, there comes a point where the only voice you can trust is your own. Mikey’s forceful delivery and raging beats exude an amped-up confidence that he wants to pass along to his listeners.

Mikey Rotten musically cut his teeth in the hardcore scene, and then as producer and DJ, throwing buckwild bass music parties in a place where few people were hip to forward-thinking electronic. He brings that intensity to his work now as a rapper — at times there’s a hint of wonky or even industrial flavor to his production. Mikey first connected with underground legends like Xavier Wulf and Eddy Baker through the Los Angeles scene, but was inspired less by the actual sound of their music and more so the infamously raucous energy of their shows and the hungry devotion of the followings they’ve built. As an obsessive fan of hardcore punk culture, Mikey found a modern equivalent to the anything-goes antics of GG Allin and Black Flag in the boundary-pushing rap of today.

Whether he’s spinning hard-stomping bass music for house parties, laying down cut-throat rap bars, or diving into the mosh pit, Mikey Rotten is drawn to scenes and musical cultures defined by a relentless do-it-yourself attitude, a fighting spirit that he carries into his own work. As an artist and creator, Mikey is not just a single voice, but a total package, who makes beats, directs his videos, and designs album artwork and merch — and if he’s not the person directly tasked with part of the process, you can be sure he’s had a vital guiding hand in it. Mikey does it all not because he’s controlling, but because he has such a defined vision of who he is and where he wants to be, the kind of self-knowledge you can only acquire through a lifetime of questioning. But even more vitally, Mikey’s determination and self-reliance is evidence to his supporters and listeners that, no matter the obstacles in your way, no matter the box you’re placed into, you can fight your way out. Mikey may have once been written off as a rotten seed, but every attempt to cut him down just makes the roots grow stronger.

CAPITAL THEATRE Unleash A HERO'S JOURNEY Album & July Tour!

New Zealand based alternative rock trio CAPITAL THEATREhas released their electrifying, debut album, A HERO'S JOURNEY, a 10 track LP showcasing why the band has exploded across the world!

Recorded with Grammy Award-winning Mike Clink (Guns N’ Roses, Steve Vai), the phenomenal freshman release has unleashed several already runaway viral videos, including "Fait Accompli"! Produced, directed and edited by Brian Cox, and co-directed by Jena N. Serbu, "Fait Accompli" has stunned fans, with over 3 million views since its June 24th unveiling.

“The hero’s journey is the blueprint for so many great stories of our time, and so we decided to map out the album based on that framework. It begins at the status quo, then moves through coming-of-age and the call to adventure, the trials and tribulations and then finally the moment of triumph over adversity. It was such rich territory to write against, and ended up giving us this amazing template for examining the human experience.” - Adam Stevenson (Front-Man)

OHP Taps Into 90s Pop Madness with #MetalCover of SPICE GIRLS Mega-Hit "Wannabe"!

Israel born and LA based heavy rock artist OHP (OREN HALMUT) has invaded 90s pop nostalgia with his brutal #metalcover of mega-popular girls band SPICE GIRLS hit single, "Wannabe". Originally premiered on METAL INSIDER, is just the newest in the enigmatic artist's YouTube revelations, which fans should explore, like, and follow HERE!

“I chose ‘Wannabe’ because its such an iconic song of the ’90s–it’s such a distinct time piece of that decade–and I really wanted to give it a modern take. I tried to stay true to the original while giving it a completely new tonality, so i kept the original key and bpm of the song, taking out all the bubble gum pop and replacing it with live instruments.

‘Wannabe’ is performed with LA friends and session players Yohai Portal (lead guitar), Nick Diiorio (bass), and Lenergizer (drums), and shot in a warehouse in Los Angeles during Covid as part of a full OHP Live show. I decided to utilize the time when all live music was put on hold, due to the pandemic, to organize a group of musicians, and to take my youtube channel live. Being a single, one stop shop musician, I chose the best people I believe fit the job, and put together this show with a great production company called Dark Bright that provided all the sound and lighting needed. Time to add some metal to this wannabe…” - OHP

CHARLOTTE WESSELS (Ex-DELAIN) Announces New Album, “Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II”, out October 7

Pre-Order Starts NOW!

First Single and Official Video “Against All Odds” Feat. Timo Somers Revealed

CHARLOTTE WESSELS weaves a lavish realm of rock, pop, metal and beyond!

Ruling stages worldwide and delivering her inimitable voice and stunning charisma into the hearts of her devotees, former DELAIN vocalist/composer CHARLOTTE WESSELScontinues her successful solo journey by unveiling the new album, Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II, out October 7, 2022, via Napalm Records. After embarking on this adventurous ride with her enchanting compilation record, Tales From Six Feet Under(2021), the upcoming endeavor marks the next proof of Wessels' multifaceted nature and wide artistic range that is deeply supported by fans and critics alike.

Together with the album announcement, CHARLOTTE WESSELS has released the first single and official video from the new full-length, entitled “Against All Odds”. The gentle ballad comes along with an atmospheric music video and grants a first look at her new piece of art. The song presents Wessels' softer, poetic side within intimate surroundings, featuring calm vocals and an acoustic guitar strummed delicately by Timo Somers (also ex-DELAIN).

The video for “Against All Odds” was recorded on an empty stage at TivoliVredenburg, capturing the calm before the storm as CHARLOTTE WESSELS will bring Tales From Six Feet Under I and II to the stage for the first time on October 23 at this special location.

CHARLOTTE WESSELS on “Against All Odds”:

“'Against All Odds' might seem like an odd choice for a first glimpse of this record - isn’t it the rule to start off with something upbeat and heavy? That rule is broken here - but it embodies the introspection and anticipation of starting over again. While the lyrics can be interpreted for many different scenarios - it was especially meaningful to record a video for the song on the empty stage of TivoliVredenburg, the setting of both the last gig I performed pre-Covid, and the first-ever show with my new material coming up October 23. I am dying to get back out there.”

Watch the official music video for “Against All Odds”

As on the previous album, instruments and vocals were performed/programmed and produced by Wessels herself in her very own Six Feet Under Studio. On the exciting new offering, her styles range from melancholic alt-pop to synth-infused rock and connect atmospheric elements with harder sounds, crossing genre boundaries with ease.

CHARLOTTE WESSELS states:

Since May 2020, I’ve been writing and recording a new song every month down in my basement “Six Feet Under Studio”, fueled by - and released to - my tight-knit Patreon community. This album wouldn’t be there without them. I’m excited to team up with Napalm Records again to release a new collection of these tracks with a wider audience.

With Tales From Six Feet Under, I released my favorite tracks of the first year of this endeavor onto the world in 2021, and Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II is its counterpart, with my favorite tracks from the second year. There are definitely differences between the two, with the second leaning more towards the heavier side, but they do belong together.

Together they represent a time of introspection and solitary songwriting in the basement. A time that has taught me a lot and has been very meaningful to me, but also a time that, as I started this project in the middle of Covid quarantine, has already - thankfully - started changing. Not because I won’t be writing and recording Six Feet Under anymore, but because as the world is opening up again, I too will come out of the basement and out of my shell again with live concerts, and collaborations are on the horizon.”

Pre-Order Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II NOW!

Starting with the captivating synth-flavored track “Venus Rising”, CHARLOTTE WESSELS’ lures the listener into her multifaceted world of sound to be spellbound within the blink of an eye. Following “Human To Ruin” mesmerizes with a sweet melody that breaks into a propelling metal track, where calmer parts alter with powerful break outs. Wessels releases her power on other commanding tracks like “The Phantom Touch” and “Good Dog”, while on “The Final Roadtrip”, she presents the full range of her vocal prowess atop carefully balanced electronic beats and indie soundscapes. “Toxic” comes with an obscure, captivating whispering sound that turns into a strong sonic wall, as the album then fades out with the honest atmospheric gems “I Forget” featuring a cello performance by Elianne Anemaat, and “Utopia”.

This eclectic wealth of songs proves Wessels’ exceptional ability to express the most sincere feelings and emotions within her art and her distinct intuition for the combination of seemingly different genres. Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II is an enchanting portent of CHARLOTTE WESSELS’ further multifaceted endeavors.

Bewitching Tales From Six Feet Under Vol II will be available as 1LP Vinyl GOLD, 1LP Vinyl RECYCLED BLACK, 1LP Vinyl RECYCLED COLOR (Patreon exclusive) as well as on all digital platforms. Moreover, fans will get a combined 2CD Digisleeve that also includes WESSELS's exciting first solo offering Tales From Six Feet Under Vol I, which will be released on CD for the first time now! With this eclectic wealth of songs, she debuts a song in her native language with Dutch rocker “Afkicken”. For this occasion, CHARLOTTE WESSELS recently presented a breathtaking full production, cinematic music video. Re-watch this breathtaking work of art HERE!

Austin Meade Is Checking In to "Red Roof Estates" — WATCH

Austin Meade, a nimble guitar hero and masterful lyricist who meshes humor with a whole lotta heart in his riff-driven compositions, is bringing disco back. No, really!

The singer/guitarist has shared the video for "Red Roof Estates" and it's full of his signature, tongue-in-cheek charm. It's the second in Meade's planned trilogy of song and video releases, and he is pleased with how the track took on a decidedly disco feel.

"'Red Roof Estates' is a look further into the future with some of the same characters from 'Varsity Type,'" he says, referencing the song and video drop from earlier this month. "It's disco time, baby. ABOUT AUSTIN MEADE:

Austin Meade's songs and stories are contradictory yet cohesive. On his Snakefarm Records debut, Black Sheep, his influences — musical and otherwise — are as varied and rich as the small-town Texas soil that nurtured his talent and yielded these 12 stellar songs ranging from multi-layered musicality and storytelling to dark alt-pop to new age and Sabbath-inspired. Thanks to his metal-and-classic-rock loving dad, Meade got to see bands like Judas Priest and worshipped Whitesnake at a young age. In junior high, he related to the intense emo-rock of Paramore and Fall Out Boy, as well as the power of songwriters like John Mayer. Yet, thanks to plainspoken but deep heartland songwriters like Tom Petty, and cutting his teeth touring in the Texas and Oklahoma Red Dirt scene, Meade’s music overflows with wide-open soulfulness. He was a drummer for years, even teaching to pay the bills. Meade eventually found his true voice when he began playing guitar as a teen in his pastor father’s church. Those experiences lend both a gravitas and rebelliousness to Meade's songs and self. He is currently working on his next effort.

GREEN CARNATION Shares Cover of Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle"

Norwegian progressive rock icon GREEN CARNATION is now releasing an acoustic cover of the Jim Croce song, "Time in a Bottle," along with a performance video! The video was recorded live in June 2022 and can now be viewed below.

Vocalist Kjetil Nordhus comments: "We are a band who like to surprise our fans, and sometimes even ourselves. We will include one unique cover song on each date of the tour. This is a nice way to present different shows every day and hopefully our fans will enjoy that. A while ago, we asked our Facebook followers what song they would like to hear in a Green Carnation version, and this one came up. It is a beautiful song, and we do think we have managed to put our own stamp on it! What other cover songs that might be included during The Acoustic Verses Tour 2022, we don't want to reveal yet! It wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if we told people which songs we have chosen. But one of them will a song in a language that I have never sung before...."

The band is celebrating their upcoming 'Acoustic Verses' tour across Europe, for which more info can be found below!

'The Acoustic Verses (remastered)' is out now via Season of Mist and is available in the shop HERE. Listen to the album HERE.

By early 2006, Norway’s GREEN CARNATION had released four studio albums and an EP in five years — including their breakout masterwork, 2001’s Light of Day, Day of Darkness. Albums of such magnitude generally foretell some type of creative cliff is around the bend, but the Norwegians wisely kept updating their sound with more atmospheric and progressive rock elements on the ensuing A Blessing in Disguise (2003) and The Quiet Offspring (2005). This creative direction ensured Light of Day, Day of Darkness would forever stand alone and that GREEN CARNATION was not a band bound to convention.

This brings us to 2006’s The Acoustic Verses, an album — as the title suggests — of completely acoustic originals. Buoyed by the previous year’s The Burden is Mine…Alone EP and the eponymous song bearing its name, The Acoustic Verses found GREEN CARNATION near the peak of their creative powers during their 2000s iteration. Now 15 years removed from its release, TheAcoustic Verses is getting the vinyl reissue treatment from Season of Mist, including new artwork from Polish graphic artist Lukasz Jaszak, an updated tracklisting and three bonus cuts.

According to vocalist Kjetil Nordhus, The Acoustic Verses was born from the band’s never-ending pursuit of something new. Even with regular pleas from fans to recreate the hallowed sounds of Light of Day, Day of DarknessGREEN CARNATION was more interested in the “next step.” Come 2006, that next step was stripped-down music played on acoustic instruments.

“I think [founding member/guitarist] Tchort thought we didn’t know where to go next,” says Nordhus. “We had time to discover all the areas within our creative scope except for the acoustic landscapes. Especially Light of Day, Day of Darkness, which is a ‘more is more’ album. It sounds strange, but it was a natural step for us because it was an area we hadn’t gone into before as a band. We had different band members that were more or less acquainted with the acoustic ideas. But for the band as a whole, it was a new challenge. It was fresh for us. For some strange reason, but I can understand, I think many people found a lot of atmospheres from Light of Day, Day of Darkness in TheAcoustic Verses, even though it’s the most different sounding album when you listen to it at first. The Acoustic Verses is like a stripped-down essence of what GREEN CARNATION is or was at that time.”

At seven songs, The Acoustic Verses features songwriting contributions from nearly every member of GREEN CARNATION. Tchort provided “Sweet Leaf” and “Alone,” while Nordhus chipped in with “Maybe?” Bassist Stein Roger Sordal penned not only “The Burden is Mine…Alone” but also the 15-minute epic “9-29-045.” “Child’s Play Part 3” (a continuation of the “Child’s Play” story from The Quiet Offspring) was written by guest cellist Bernt Andrè Moen, and album closer “High Tide Waves” was a joint effort between guitarist Michael S. Krumins (music) and drummer Tommy Jackson (lyrics).

The wealth and disparity of songwriting ideas proved to be a double-edged sword GREEN CARNATION. While it made The Acoustic Verses an album of remarkable depth and progression, it put the band at a creative crossroads. Then, the following year, Tchort dissolved GREEN CARNATION after a difficult North American tour. It also put his plans for the sequel to Light of Day, Day of DarknessThe Rise and Fall of Mankind (which was the intended second part of his The Chronicles of Doom trilogy) on the backburner.

“It was a challenge for us to fit the new, acoustic sound into what we were doing,” says Nordhus. “I can’t remember too many albums that have nearly all band members as songwriters and lyricists, which made it very much a band concept. But, after The Acoustic Verses, we certainly didn’t know what to do. There wasn’t a natural step for us to take at that point. There’s a lot of reasons why we decided to split up — that was one of them.”

GREEN CARNATION reformed in 2014 and proceeded to rejoin the European and American festival circuit for special appearances, including a full airing of Light of Day, Day of Darkness at the 2016 ProgPower USA festival. In 2020, they released the highly anticipated follow-up to The Acoustic VersesLeaves of Yesteryear, an album that drew immediate praise from fans and critics.

“We knew that people wanted us to come back,” says Nordhus. “That wasn’t something new. But the emotions of it all, during that first concert when we came back, we saw several people crying in the audience, we could see how much it meant to people and we were all a bit surprised. There’s a lot of love for the band out there. We needed to be entirely sure that after so many years that we released an extremely good album. It wouldn’t make sense to do something halfway. We took quite a lot of time, wrote a lot of material and set a high bar for our ideas. We tried to gather all the best things we did previously but adding 15 years of life and musical experience.”

Nordhus hints at some “significantly adventurous” plans for GREEN CARNATION in addition to continuing the promotional push for Leaves of Yesteryear. However, assembling the The Acoustic Verses reissue provided a moment of pause and reflection when GREEN CARNATION was writing, recording and touring at a breakneck pace. A decade-and-a-half after the release of The Acoustic Verses, Nordhus says the band is in a significantly better frame of mind and appreciates what they have in each other.

“Those were some hectic years. It was such a short period of time. You look at what we did and it’s like, ‘Oh, wow!’ We did concert DVDs, singles, full lengths…everything. Because of the experience we all have, it feels much more comfortable to play together. We’re more true to what we want to do. We don’t necessarily have the aim of headlining the Wacken festival. We’re happy with our situation in that we have people all over the world who are interested in what we’re doing, and we mean something to them. Not everyone can say that. We want to do stuff that gives us energy and want to continue playing. Economy and money are not our driving force — it never was in the first place. We’re extremely ambitious when it comes to making music together and our live shows are better than ever. I don’t think we talked about those things 15 years ago.”
