Power Metal Warriors VICTORIUS Reveal Fourth Single “Night Of The Nuclear Ninja” + Lyric Video

New Album, Dinosaur Warfare Pt. 2 – The Great Ninja War, out June 24, 2022 via Napalm Records | Pre Order NOW!

German power metal space warriors VICTORIUS enter the last round with their new single, “Night of the Nuclear Ninja”! The track comes just a few days before this Friday’s release of their new album, Dinosaur Warfare Pt. 2 – The Great Ninja War – the final showdown in their fight to protect mankind against the Sunbladers! “Night of the Nuclear Ninja” features strong vocals, epic tunes and powerful instruments building up a commanding metal anthem. The track comes along with a gloomy and captivating lyric video illustrating the song with nuclear aesthetics.

Dirk (vocals) on “Night Of The Nuclear Ninja”:

“A new foe appears on the horizon! A warrior, glowing in the dark, fueled by atomic hatred and nuclear fury! Enter the night of the nuclear ninja! Enjoy our latest and last single before our brand new album will be released!”

Two adventurous worlds of VICTORIUS collide on power metal apex Dinosaur Warfare Pt. 2 – The Great Ninja War!

Dinosaur Warfare Pt. 2 – The Great Ninja War sets off with a monumental introduction as it flows into “Victorious Dinogods”. The track initiates battle with relentless power metal as the mighty dinogods resurrect to protect mankind against the space ninja attack. Luckily, the dinogods don’t stand alone, as they are proudly joined in battle by the “Mighty Magic Mammoth”, awakened by a fiery comet. But wait, there are more brothers-in-arms (and songs) on their way – like “Jurassic Jetfighters”“Triceps Ceratops” and “Tyrannosaurus Steel”. The three join forces to fight the ninjas and their fearsome dragon, as fabled on smashing track “Dinos and Dragons”, spiced with an intense guitar solo praising the tradition of speed metal with a remarkable virtuosity. A foreshadowing of what’s to come when the ninjas take command is described with “Katana Kingdom Rising”, setting off with stomping drums that lead to an anthemic chorus. Strong symphonic elements are witnessed on “God of Roar” as well as on the powerful track “Night of the Nuclear Ninja”, which tells the story of the space ninjas transforming into even deadlier, nuclear versions of themselves. This is when another grand figure joins the fold: the giant “Powerzord”, a mighty robot lord, who comes to the aid of the dinosaurs in battle with the aim of finally freeing mankind from the space ninja threat. Will the dinos and their brave supporters manage to prevent the nuclear ninja kingdom from rising? Find out on Dinosaur Warfare Pt. 2 – The Great Ninja War – a roaring good time for all!

VICTORIUS on Dinosaur Warfare Pt. 2 – The Great Ninja War:

“Mighty Dinosaurriors! Get ready for the next chapter of our epic quest! Dinosaur Warfare Pt. 2 – The Great Ninja War is nothing more than the most ambitious album we´ve ever made. 12 songs full of speed, melodies, hooks and epic-ness! Together with producer Lars Rettkowitz we’ve created the soundtrack for an intergalactic Power Metal adventure you can´t escape from. The war rages on! Choose your side!”

GREYLOTUS Drop Lyric Video for New Single "Shadow Archetype"

Baltimore progressive tech-death metal quintet GREYLOTUS have released the third and final single from their upcoming debut album. Fans can check out the lyric video for "Shadow Archetype" via the link below. The debut full-length from Greylotus, titled 'Dawnfall', will see a July 8, 2022 release via The Artisan Era.

Speaking about their new album, the band comments:

‘Dawnfall’ serves as a follow-up statement to the ‘Savior’ EP, which dealt with thrusting inner demons borne of trauma and mental health struggles out into the open, and accepting the reality of existing with them.

In the metaphor of the lotus’ life-cycle, ‘Savior’ represented the stage in which the seed is buried under the mud - shelled in, unaware, and unable to budge from what it has known. ‘Dawnfall’ embodies the process of breaking out of the shell and traveling toward the sun’s light, reaching through murky waters and currents, struggling to separate True North from tricks of the refracted light.

‘Dawnfall’ explores the self-doubt that accompanies the realization that healing is a non-linear process. It wanders through the pits of self-judgment and confronts what follows when an individual accepts that the best version of themselves is not constrained by perfection.

About GREYLOTUS:

Greylotus is a progressive technical death metal band from Baltimore, Maryland.

Combining influences from all edges of the modern metal frontier, Greylotus crafts various dynamic walls of sound, ranging from passages of blisteringly technical riffs and artillery-esque blast beats, to emotional and melodic harmonies and choruses, to soundscapes brimming with ambient, orchestral, acoustic, and synth elements. After establishing the foundation of their sound in the 2018 EP, ‘Savior’, they went to work writing for their debut full-length ‘Dawnfall,’ a genre-defying experience highlighting the wide array of influences each member brings to the table.

Greylotus serves to provide a narrative for self-development through metaphor following the lotus flower’s life cycle in their lyrics. They seek to leave memorable emotional postcards that listeners can connect with and reflect upon.

After getting their first taste of the road in 2019 alongside Abiotic, Cognitive, and God of Nothing, and playing the virtual Techabilitation Festival in 2020 amid the pandemic, Greylotus are raring to perform again at United Kingdom Tech-Fest 2022 and tours TBA.

JUDAS PRIEST ANNOUNCE 50 HEAVY METAL YEARS TOUR DATES

One of heavy metal’s all-time greats, Judas Priest, will get the opportunity to celebrate their 50th anniversary again this year with the launch of a new North American fall tour. The 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour will also feature Queensryche as openers and is being fueled by the highest charting album of Priest’s career, ‘Firepower,’ which peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200.

Additionally in 2022, Priest band members Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Ian Hill and Scott Travis will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

“Defending the heavy metal faith for fifty years, the Priest is back!” - Rob Halford

“Time to don the leather and studs and roll out the Priest Machine - celebrating our 50 Heavy Metal Years!!” - Glenn Tipton

“After the horrific last few years of restrictions we’ve all had to endure, what better place to break free, than the land of the free - the USA!” - Ian Hill

Judas Priest originally formed in 1970 in Birmingham, England (an area that many feel birthed heavy metal). The original nucleus of musicians would go on to change the face of heavy metal. Throughout the 70's Priest were responsible for helping trail blaze metal with such classic offerings as ‘Sad Wings of Destiny’ (1976) ‘Sin After Sin’ (1977) and ‘Hell Bent for Leather’ (1978) as well as one of the genre’s top live recordings ‘Unleashed in the East’ (1979) among others.

It was during the 80's that Priest conquered the world, becoming a global arena headliner on the strength of such all-time classics as ‘British Steel’ (1980) and ‘Screaming for Vengeance’ (1982), as well as being one of the first metal bands to be embraced by the then-burgeoning MTV, plus performing at some of the decades biggest concerts (1980’s Monsters of Rock, 1983’s US Festival, and 1985’s Live Aid) and being the first to exclusively wear leather and studs – a look that began during this era and would eventually be embraced by metal heads throughout the world. Priest’s success continued throughout the 90's and beyond with the addition of drummer Scott Travis, as evidenced by such additional stellar offerings as ‘Painkiller’ (1990) ‘Angel of Retribution’ (2005) and ‘A Touch of Evil: Live’ (2009) the latter of which saw Priest win a Grammy Award for a killer rendition of the classic 'Dissident Aggressor'.

In 2011 new guitarist Richie Faulkner came in to replace the previous guitarist who had left in 2010 - the move seemed to have reinvigorated the band, as evidenced by a show-stealing performance on the 'American Idol' TV program that also served as Faulkner's debut performance with the band (also in 2011 was the release of a new compilation 'The Chosen Few' which included Priest classics selected by some of metal's biggest names) and the 'Epitaph' concert DVD in 2013.

Priest’s next studio effort would arrive in 2014 ‘Redeemer of Souls’ which was supported by another strong tour. In 2018, Priest unleashed their latest studio album ‘Firepower’ (produced by Andy Sneap and Tom Allom) which received global success and critical acclaim. In 2020, a fully official and authorized photographic book, ‘Judas Priest: 50 Heavy Metal Years,’ was issued, followed in 2021 by the 42-CD box set, ‘Judas Priest: 50 Heavy Metal Years of Music.’

Few rock or metal acts remain as much of a must-see live attraction as Judas Priest.

MASSACRE rose from the swamps of Southern Florida in the early 80's during a heatwave of groundbreaking death metal that produced some of the genre's most revered forefathers, DEATH, OBITUARY and SIX FEET UNDER. Their legacy was founded with a string of classic demos, "Aggressive Tyrant" (1986), "Chamber of Ages" (1986) and "The Second Coming" (1990), before unleashing their critically praised classic debut album "From Beyond" (1991). In 2021, the band made their long-awaited return with "Resurgence." Invigorated with the same youthful rage that brought them together at inception, long-time members, vocalist Kam Lee (MANTAS, BONE GNAWER, THE GROTESQUERY) and bassist Mike Borders, were joined in the studio by some of death's most prolific and malignant songwriters, guitarist Rogga Johansson (PAGANIZER, MEGASCAVENGER, RIB SPREADER), guitarist Jonny Pettersson (WOMBBATH, NATTRAVNEN, HENRY KANE), guitarist Scott Fairfax (MEMORIAM, AS THE WORLD DIES) and drummer Brynjar Helgetun (CRYPTICUS, THE GROTESQUERY) with additional guest performances by Marc Grewe (INSIDIOUS DISEASE), Dave Ingram (BENEDICTION), Anders Odden (CADAVER), and Pete Slate (DRUID LORD) The record was recorded with producer and death metal icon Dan Swanö (ex-Edge of Sanity, ex-Bloodbath) and Pettersson as engineer/mixer.

Now only a year later, MASSACRE emerges from the swamps again for the brutally devastating EP, "Mythos." Picking up where they left off on "Resurgence," the band lays waste with Lovecraftian inspired lyrics and searing death metal riffs.

SAOR Streams New Album 'Origins' Ahead of Release

Caledonian metal pioneer SAOR is now streaming its upcoming fifth full-length album, 'Origins,' in its entirety ahead of this Friday's release! The album can be heard below.

'Origins' is due on June 24 via Season of Mist, making it SAOR's debut to the label! Inspired by the myths and tales of the Scottish highlands, 'Origins' takes the listener deep into the ancient heartlands while delivering SAOR's signature hybrid of atmospheric black metal and folk.

Pre-orders for 'Origins' are live in the shop HERE. Pre-save the record across all streaming services HERE.

SAOR means free, without obligations, unconstrained. All of these characteristics are intrinsic to the music of SAOR, the musical entity spearheaded by sole member Andy Marshall. As a lone wanderer proudly shouting the tales and myths of his people, his culture and his region from the tops of misty Caledonian mountains for the wind to carry, Andy has carved a solitary, yet strikingly inspiring path with SAOR ever since Roots, his first album laid deep… roots, indeed!, way back in 2013.

A decade about to be completed which is now about to witness the release of a fifth full-length, a decade in which Andy and SAOR have almost single-handedly made us all feel a little bit like Scots at heart, regardless of our own individual origins, such is the passionate and almost visual way that this musician delivers his profoundly atmospheric hybrid of black and folk metal, peculiarly described as Caledonian metal. “I used to play in some local bands, but I never really liked writing music with other people,” Andy recalls of his initial, formative times as a musician, beginnings that already hinted at the future road that would be taken. “There were too many opinions and arguments about the direction of the music. I have always preferred writing music alone.” As such, his musical and conceptual vision could be developed steadily, undiluted and unrestrained. Free, without obligations, unconstrained. “I was really into black metal and folk metal at the time I wrote Roots,” the Scot reveals, somewhat unsurprisingly. The components for his musical edifice are clear – it’s in the personality of their seamless mix, and in the Scottish fog that surrounds it, that the unique magic lies.

“There were plenty of Scandinavian bands singing about their history, culture, roots… but there were no Scottish bands. I thought this was kind of weird because we have such an interesting history, and quite gloomy and epic landscapes, much like the Scandinavians. Since I grew up around traditional Scottish music and was a huge fan of film soundtracks, I used those influences and tried to merge them with atmospheric black metal, folk metal and other sounds. It was quite a natural fit for me. I live very close to mountains, beautiful forests and lochs, and I spend a lot of time on the Isle of Skye, so you can guess where my inspiration comes from. I’ve also been interested in Scottish history from a young age. I’m no expert, but I take inspiration from reading about the past and always feel connected to it.”

Established as a singular voice and presence in the metal and folk underground with Roots (“it might sound corny, but it’s the ‘roots’ of SAOR and the Caledonian metal sound,” Andy jokes. “You can hear some of the typically Scottish melodies on it that would become more prominent in future albums.”), Andy Marshall forged on, and follow-up Aura appeared less than a year later. Though it contains some of the most appreciated hymns in his entire discography, the Scottish musician, ever a perfectionist, has mixed feelings about it. “I was never a huge fan of the production and performances on this one,” he shrugs. “It felt rushed. Funnily enough, it became one of the most popular and well received SAOR albums. People seem to love the somewhat ‘muddied production’ because it gives the album character. We still play songs from this live and they go down really well. ‘Pillars of the Earth’ is one of my favourite SAOR songs.” With apologies to Andy, we do side with the masses on this one – and would even throw the hallowed name of Bathory as an example of how “muddied production” and “character” are two concepts that can indeed go hand in hand, treading a fine but clear line throughout the history of metal.

Perhaps avoiding another rushed effort, Guardians took two years to appear as the third chapter in the ongoing saga that is the SAOR discography. Definitely leaning even more to the side of folk, it’s a work of rare emotional depth within the genres it touches, even if our man is, once more, rather unfazed and focused on the technical aspects of the recording. “I think it’s a natural progression from Aura, but with a slightly improved sound. It focuses more on my folk/Celtic influences. Some would say the folk metal element is more prominent due to the amount of bagpipes, tin whistles and other folk instrumentation used on this album,” he muses. However, not even his author can deny the power of this album’s highest moments. “’Hearth’ is one of the most popular SAOR songs and ‘Tears of a Nation’ always goes down well in a live setting.” Sound considerations aside, it was clear by then, circa 2016, that SAOR was a living, breathing entity, evolving and exploring. Like that recurring metaphor of the lone wanderer that seems so perfect we cannot let go of it. Free, without obligations, unconstrained.

The period between albums ever-lengthening, as if each step into the world of SAOR requires a bigger period of reflection and maturing to take the next one, Forgotten Paths would only appear in 2019. A worthy wait, however, as the evolutionary step was by far the boldest, bravely defying imaginary style constraints and showcasing an atypical and engaging approach to the overall “folk” super-genre. “My most open and accessible album,” Andy admits without hesitation. “There’s definitely a hint of post-metal creeping in on this one and a little less black metal. Neige from Alcest provided guest vocals on the title-track, which was an honour. This is around the time I started using the term Caledonian metal to describe my sound. I think it sums up my music and the themes perfectly.”

As live appearances were beginning to be much more frequent and SAOR a constantly demanded name on more notable events, the world decided to throw us all a pandemic curveball, which halted the victorious march of Andy and his stage cohorts for a while. However, you wouldn’t expect a period of isolation to ever hold back a musician and a project that are, by definition, and even by many of the feelings by them evoked, isolated, would you? And it most certainly did not. “From 2019-early 2020 we had a pretty hectic time touring and playing festivals, so I actually really liked the first few months of lockdown. I got a chance to relax,” Andy says. “But when the government decided to stop us from travelling, even leaving our local area, it was horrible.” Also, the end of 2020 brought an unexpected gift of recognition, as SAOR won the "Best Metal" Category at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMAs). Humble as ever, Andy thanked the band’s manager Joe, his stage comrades and Season of Mist, and added that “it's been a tough year, so this award means a lot.”

Even better than recognition and accolades, from these difficult times, the new album, Origins, appeared. And for their first album in three years, and their premiere for Season of Mist, we wouldn’t expect anything other than… the unexpected. A counter reaction of sorts to the more meandering and even “accessible” direction of the previous records, perhaps inspired by its main theme of the Picts (a group of peoples who lived in what is now northern and eastern Scotland during Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages) and their fierce battles, Origins comes across as a more raging, black metal-infused effort, copiously evocative in its imagery and even melancholic in places, but decisively strong and abrasive at the same time. “This album is a lot more guitar driven,” Andy confirms.

“During the pandemic I listened to a lot of classic heavy metal and I think you’ll hear the influences on the dual lead guitars and solos. I also wanted this to be my heaviest album with emphasis on the riffs. My harsh vocals have changed from deep growls to more of a black metal style. Since the subject of the album is the Picts, I wanted a pagan theme throughout, and so that aspect is a lot more prominent than in the previous albums. I also used instruments such as the Carnyx and tribal drumming to convey that feeling.” One of the strongest songs on offer, the opener in fact, “Call of the Carnyx”, is in fact about the Carnyx itself, the ancient Celtic war horn, and it conveys like never before the feeling that it must have been to hear its resounding bellow, calling the Pictish warriors to battle. A moving homage to the legacy of the Picts, Origins guides us through their gods, their fallen heroes who died protecting their families and land, and what still remains of their identity in the Scottish people of today.

As much as we have food for thought, assured and guaranteed entertainment and inspiration for the months to come as we listen to and explore Origins and its themes, its creator is naturally already moving on. Andy doesn’t need much to create the worlds SAOR albums inhabit, and his most powerful tool is always with him. “I don’t need to be in one particular place to write or be inspired,” he explains. “I do have my own little office/studio in my home where I write music and lyrics, but it’s nothing special. My imagination is the most powerful tool for SAOR.” Not only do we vehemently agree, we would even say that imagination is the most powerful tool, always, for everyone. The one untamed weapon we all possess and can use at all times. Free. Without obligations. Unconstrained.

The opening track is a remix of "Once Upon a Time I Was Handsome" by Pete Gleadall. Pete is a producer, engineer, mix engineer, musician, and synth programmer. Legendary vocalist LISA GERRARD and composer MARCELLO DE FRANCISCI release 'Until We Meet Again', first single from ‘Exaudia' LP

Legendary Dead Can Dance vocalist and highly acclaimed film composer Lisa Gerrard has joined forces with Los Angeles-based composer/ record producer Marcello De Francisci for the stunning new album 'Exaudia', presenting a vivid collection of epic and empowering compositions. The first single ‘Until We Meet Again’, will be released on June 17, when the album also becomes available for pre-order.

Ms. Gerrard and Mr. De Francisci met many years ago through soundtrack work, their collaborative efforts including soundtrack scores and their first album ‘Departum‘. This recording follows Gerrard's 2021 collaborative ‘Burn’ album with Dead Can Dance bandmate Jules Maxwell, produced by James Chapman (MAPS),

‘Exaudia’ is the term used when a monarch grants a citizen of his kingdom an audience and, as a result, consents to a wish. A fitting title considering how regal this recording is. Working alongside a team of other musicians including Bahar Shah, Astrid Williamson, Daniela Arbizzi and Farhad Behroozi, ‘Exaudia’ combines the encompassing and euphoric textures of De Francisci’s production with Gerrard's evocative and haunting vocals. A feminine embodiment of poetic expression, the record plays majestically with this narrative, inviting a rich and vivid texture within each offering.

“I met Marcello while I was composing for a film called 'Kings'. He had wonderful engineering skills and I liked him as a person. After a while, we decided to try composing together and went on to compose some film scores. This work was borne out of a desire to write something together during Covid, there is also the artistic desire to embrace the opportunity to unlock our unfulfilled visions. The album is very physical in its construction and sensibility, it is a deeply sensual work that enjoys a sense of empowered subtlety," says Lisa Gerrard.

Lisa Gerrard has established herself as one of the world’s most highly acclaimed film composers, winning a Golden Globe for her work on the score for ‘Gladiator’ with Hans Zimmer. Her film work also includes ‘Whale Rider’, which received an Academy Award nomination, and ‘Balibo’, which won the Screen Music Award for Best Feature Film Score. In 2018, she received a Grammy nomination for ‘Hiraeth’, alongside David Kuckhermann, and went on to become a featured vocalist on the score for ‘Dune’ before returning to Dead Can Dance to release ‘Dionysus’ and tour in 2022. Gerrard also performs as part of the ‘Gladiator Live’ concerts and ‘The World of Hans Zimmer’ tours.

About 'Until We Meet Again', Marcello De Francisci says, "This piece is very much a story that depicts longing, distance between two people, it is an invitation to heal and a message of hope… We collaborated remotely on 'Exaudia' during the holidays between Melbourne and Los Angeles as I recall, importing Lisa Gerrard’s vocals onto my session, which her engineer Simon Bowley had sent over on the night of New Year 2021. Whatever plans I had to celebrate that evening were completely obliterated upon witnessing the emotional impact Lisa’s performance had on me. The overall track in general, as a result, was instantly addictive and therefore, I proceeded to work alone in the studio until dawn".

De Francisci began his career as a visual artist while attending fine arts at an institution founded by the famed Baroque painter Bartolome Esteban Murillo in Seville, Spain. He furthered his education at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. In 2006, he won the Best Soundtrack of the Year G.A.N.G. Award for his work on Sony Computer Entertainment’s ‘God of War’ game. He soon partnered with Lisa Gerrard, launching their trajectory of collaborating and co-writing motion picture soundtrack scores together.

The full 'Exaudia' album will be released on August 26 via Atlantic Curve, a London-based label subsidiary of Schubert Music Europe GmbH. As of June 17, ‘Until We Meet Again’ will be available everywhere digitally. It can be pre-saved at https://orcd.co/untilwemeetagain

KURT DEIMER PAYS TRIBUTE TO HIS LATE FATHER WITH NEW SINGLE, "MY DAD,"

Kurt Deimer's current single and video, "Hero," was just released last month and is causing a buzz with rock fans as it builds towards a July 4 release at Active Rock radio. Now, to coincide with Father's Day (June 19th), Deimer is unveiling a special song and video to honor his personal hero, "My Dad." The song is a tribute to Kurt's late father and can be heard and viewed – along with “Hero” - via these links:

“MY DAD” - https://ffm.to/mydad

“HERO” - https://ffm.to/kurtdeimerhero

"My father was my hero," explains the singer. "My father taught me to be the kind of human I am now – to have a heart that cares about other people, to always take the high road, always kill people with kindness, and to always give. He was always respected as a person because of the way he treated people. So, all the qualities I have about caring and compassion and peace and kindness and love, they all came from my father.

"My dad passed away on April 6, 2016. He had quit smoking when he was 28, he struggled with his weight and, eventually, it led to congestive heart failure. My sister had passed a few years before in the same hospice my dad passed in, and I was with her when she died - holding her hand. I was able to say my goodbyes. With my father, I said, 'It's okay to go now, dad.’ And I swear to God within two seconds, his heart stopped beating and he died right there. It is crazy - like he knew I was there, and then when I told him it was good, he went… I wrote these lyrics in about 15 minutes on my back porch at two in the morning, talking to my dad. I have not performed it live yet, but I anticipate that it's going to be very emotional."

In addition to his new heartfelt tune and his current single “Hero,” Deimer has been steadily making a name for himself opening for Geoff Tate and Yngwie Malmsteen, working with Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X on his EP ‘Work Hard Rock Hard,’ performing at the Rainbow Bar & Grill 50th Anniversary Party in Los Angeles, and being one of the featured artists on the ShipRocked Cruise, which saw him perform on stage with the likes of Nita Strauss, Bumblefoot, POD’s Sonny Sandoval and Bad Brains’ HR, among others.

His touching video for "My Dad" is sure to connect with a large audience, who may see parallels between the video and their own lives and relationships.

"I said, 'Let's present life and death and his memory.' And then we went to my mother's house and got all the footage - she had saved a bunch of footage from her old cameras, and I just wanted to celebrate his life because if I can celebrate his life and it resonates with others, maybe it'll make them go back and look at their old home videos and not take that stuff for granted. Whether it's a dad or a mom or a sibling that they've lost, go back and revisit the middle and remember the good times and honor their memory. That's where that came from."

SOILWORK Release Second Single "Nous Sommes La Guerre" From Upcoming Album "Övergivenheten"

SOILWORK continue to please their fans by releasing the second single of the upcoming album Övergivenheten. After delivering the title track of their new longplayer already some weeks ago, the Swedes release the next single called 'Nous Sommes La Guerre'. This track represents the next massive piece of their highly anticipated album which is due on August 19th.

SOILWORK about the new single:
"‘Nous Sommes la Guerre’ evolved around a “fight or flight” theme. The song is about internal struggles and confronting your own worst sides. It’s a cry for help in defeating the darkness inside of you and move towards a brighter path."

The extraordinary artwork for the new single is created by Argavilda who has a very own view on the band's latest output. His thoughts about 'Nous Sommes La Guerre' and his interpretation of it:

"The idea is to peel the skin of the narrator to reveal the individual layers and see what makes the individual. All the scarred and murky sides being laid bare the deeper you dig. Crying golden blood because there are no more tears. It is a person soul searching to find answers and exposing themselves to ask for help. My interpretation of the lyrics is intricately connected to being lost and realizing, that you must build yourself up anew and that you cannot do it alone”.

About
SOILWORK's steady consistency in creativity, which they have been delivering for years and also inspiring their fans with, is probably the most appropriate virtue that describes the band. Founded at the end of 1995, SOILWORK released their debut album Steelbath Suicide in 1998, which already received a good response. Between their debut album and album number five there were only five years, which means that by 2005 the band already had a lot of material out and since the switch to Nuclear Blast in 2001 at the latest, they had made the breakthrough. After a three-year album break, also caused by pandemic and difficult working conditions, SOILWORK are standing now in the starting blocks with their twelfth album Övergivenheten which is set to release in August 2022.

Additionally, the band announced that Rasmus Ehrborn has officially joined as new permanent bass player in the beginning of this year, which makes the SOILWORK line-up complete and ready again to capture the stages around the world!

SOILWORK is:
Björn "Speed" Strid - vocals
David Andersson - guitars
Sven Karlsson - keyboards
Sylvain Coudret - guitars
Bastian Thusgaard - drums
Rasmus Ehrnborn - bass

Armed for Apocalypse Share "Full of Phlegm"

ARMED FOR APOCALYPSE TO RELEASE RITUAL VIOLENCE ON CANDLELIGHT RECORDS ON OCTOBER 7

BAND SHARES "FULL OF PHLEGM" Listen below.

Uncompromising sludge juggernaut Armed for Apocalypse have announced that their third album, Ritual Violence, is set for release on October 7 via Candlelight Records.

Serving as a punishingly heavy taster for the new album, the band has released first single "Full of Phlegm," a blistering track that embodies the feeling of guilt and shame brought on by the decisions we make when we are in an intoxicated state.

Pre-save the album here.

"Ritual Violence was written in a time where everything seemed to be hopeless," the band says. "A lot of the songs on the album revolve around an overall theme of being stuck in an inescapable self destructive rabbit hole, and the struggle to break free of those habits."

Ritual Violence, which sees the band at its most aggressive and unrelenting, is both a product and expression of their never-die attitude. It's the album Armed for Apocalypse always wanted to make, with the engineer they wanted to make it with — Kurt Ballou of God City (Converge, High On Fire, Every Time I Die) — and the label they wanted to partner with — Candlelight Records. Featuring guest appearances from Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) on track "Foredoomed" and Trevor Phipps (Unearth) on "Suffer for a Living," it is Armed for Apocalypse refined to its purest form: 0 percent frills, 100 percent heavy riffs.

Forming in California in the aughts, Armed for Apocalypse quickly released 2009's Defeat (Ironclad Recordings). That's where they laid out their mission statement: we are going to tune low, play riffs, and make heavy metal that makes you bang your fucking head. Real amps turned up, real drums hit hard, no bullshit. 2013's The Road Will End (Ironclad) complicated their thesis, the band experimenting with new structures and incorporating a broader sonic palette. But member changes and new life directions led to a challenging five years before their next release, 2018's Palm Reader EP. Now, in 2022, they return more focused than ever with their most potent and unwavering album to date. Ritual Violence is 11 tracks of bludgeoning skullfuckery; a record from a band who are confident in who they are, and what they want to do. And who won’t let anything get in the way of that. Not the years. Not the heartache. Not an industry that devalues its creators. Nothing.

Armed for Apocalypse has never done it the easy way. But on this latest record is a statement and a promise: They will do it their way.

ARMED FOR APOCALYPSE ARE:

Nate Burman — Vocals + Guitar

Cayle Hunter — Guitar

Charlie Fischer — Bass

Nick Harris — Drums

Hank Williams Jr. Releases 'Rich White Honky Blues,' Produced by Dan Auerbach

Larger than life, capable of summoning “all his rowdy friends” with a couple crashing downbeats and a blaring guitar riff, Hank Williams Jr. has been one of country music’s truest outlaws for over half a century. But at his core, the 72-year-old legend is the bluesman, Thunderhead Hawkins. Pure, unqualified and unadulterated, the only son of Hank Williams has the same down low lonesome in his veins as the man Rufus “Tee-Tot” Payne taught to play guitar as a small child growing up in Greenville, Alabama.

With Rich White Honky Blues, available now via Easy Eye Sound, the second-generation Country Music Hall of Famer makes good on his legacy with a turpentine and rough wood take on the hill country blues that informed his father’s raw-boned style of putting his pain out there. GRAMMY-winning Producer of the Year Dan Auerbachrecorded the set live over three days, with a dozen songs, reprising classics from Robert Johnson, Lightnin’ Hopkins, R.L. Burnside, Muddy Waters, Big Joe Turner, and a few from Bocephus himself.

“The blues is where it all comes from,” concedes Williams. “It’s the start of everything musical in my family; everything starts with Tee-Tot and flows from there. I’ve always flirted with this stripped back blues – all the way back to the ‘80s. But I finally made an album that’s just that, and I like it.”

With a wicked core of electric slide guitarist Kenny Brown (claimed as “my adopted son” by Burnside), bassist Eric Deaton (who first toured with Fat Possum’s Juke Joint Caravan, backing up T-Model Ford and Paul “Wine” Jones), plus drummer Kinney Kimbrough (son of North Mississippi blues legend Junior Kimbrough), Williams, Auerbach and the band tapped into the lifeblood of the blues.

“If you wanted to play this kind of music, you couldn’t have better players,” Auerbach explains. “The first time I ever saw Hank Jr. on TV, I was a kid raised on Robert Johnson and Hank Williams, Sr. records, and those things came through so clearly watching him. So, I tried to assemble the right parts to just sit in that piece of who he is.”

From the vocal and gut-string bounce of opening track “.44 Special Blues” (Johnson’s “32-20 Blues”), caught on the fly and viscerally gutting the betrayal and consequence rejoinder to a cheating woman, Williams’ vocals are potent, earthy, brash and lascivious. With Burnside’s “Georgia Women” leaning heavily into Williams’ delta blues influences, featuring an explosive dose of slide guitar magic, along with the high-tempo blues burner “Fireman Ring The Bell,” plus the chicken-scratching burn of Big Joe Turner’s metaphoric “TV Mama,” the delectability is greasy, trenchant, built to slather on a too-hot Saturday night.

And those vintage nuggets set the stage for Williams’ own songs.

“It’s that rawness, and how real it is. I was always searching for the rawness, the darkest stuff,” shares Auerbach. “Once we were in it, as soon as we started playing, Hank was invested. That lifted everybody else up, to really push each other.”

A minor-key tempest with a touch of smoke – recalling The Allman Brothers Band’s debt to the blues, “I Like It When It’s Stormy” faces down the rugged breaks and bad women who show a man his mettle, while the vamping “My Name Is Bocephus” redux “Call Me Thunderhead” throttles poseurs and pretenders to not just his throne but Williams’ famed blues doppelganger Thunderhead Hawkins, slicing into the electric blues that’s as much molten Chicago as North Mississippi’s finest.

“You bring who you are,” Williams says, chuckling. “All that... all... of... that... is where my music comes from. When we got into the studio, the more we played, the deeper we got – and the deeper we got, the harder I wanted to go. Those songs just fit the moment.”

The syncopated title track with its blaring electric guitar and rubber bassline may be the most Bocephus of them all. Making the blues an equal opportunity proposition, not just the outpost for the destitute and downtrodden, “Rich White Honky Blues” twines good sex and being cut off as the howling leveler of men regardless of circumstances, as well as serving as a roll call of the artists who twisted him into the man he is today.

“It is what it is,” Williams adds, still laughing. “You know, that’s the thing. Blues is what it is – and whoever you are, there’s a dose with your name on it. You can let it knock you down, or you can stand up and play the guitar, witness to what happened and throw down hard to get rid of it.”

London's Grace Solero offers first adrenaline-filled taster of 'Metamorphosis' LP

‘Bitter-sweet Jeff Buckley-esque’ ~ Time Out London

‘Simplistic allure, rhythmically succulent and vocally brazen’ ~ Powerplay Magazine

‘Raw, intense, evocative’ ~ Noddy Holder, Slade

"Top-notch performance, passion, talent and energy... Grace Solero has a distinguished style and stage presence that demands your attention, with some seriously bad-ass songwriting and song-structures" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

‘Bewitching’ ~ Ginger Broderick, New York TV Show

London-based alternative rock artist Grace Solero presents 'Metamorphosis', the lead track from the forthcoming album by the same name. Raw, grungy, dreamy and atmospheric rock, this follows earlier singles 'Orange Sky', 'Awake' and 'Lucid Dream' with the latter recently played on BBC 6 Music.

This 9-track offering was mixed by Chris Brown (Radiohead, Muse, Ride, INXS, Gary Moore, The Waterboys) and mastered by Andy 'Hippy' Baldwin (The Who, Interpol, Oasis, Blur, UB40, Stormzy) at London's Metropolis Studio.

Recorded and engineered by Jon Clayton (The Monochrome Set, Vic Godard And Subway Sect) at One Cat Studio in London, these songs were arranged and produced by the band members themselves.

"The album's title track 'Metamorphosis' was initially a guitar riff played by our drummer and multi-instrumentalist Dave. The whole band joined in and I added melody and lyrics. The verses are more introspective with the choruses turning into anthem-like explosive energy. It's about being bold in order to move forward," says Grace Solero.

"Metamorphosis break free... For it's easy not to see... You gotta run run run run run... Burn the bridges of despair... Now it's time to dare"

Between their previous albums ‘New Moon’ (2009), ‘Hundred Years Apart’ (2013) and 'Awake’ (2018), the band has received BBC Radio 6, XFM and BBC London support and has been featured in magazines such as Classic Rock, Guitar Techniques, Powerplay Magazine, Sonic Shocks, as well as in Sonic Cathedral Webzine.

High energy and high on dynamism, Solero is a one-of-a-kind artist. With a mercurial voice of astounding range, her powerful stage presence points to dance, acting and gymnastics training. Conveying deep emotions, darkness and light combined, she shies away from the ordinary in her songwriting.

Solero's talent is matched by that of Californian lead guitarist / singer/songwriter Dan Beaulaurier, whose style displays a rare mix of technical mastery and real soul. Innovative Swedish bassist Bjorn Zetterlund and Welsh multi-instrumentalist Dave Guy on drums and percussion round out the band.

Solero's performances are highly dynamic and energetic, both sonically and visually. They've performed everywhere from intimate clubs to large stages in Europe, USA and Canada, supporting the likes of Motorhead's Phil Campbell, Alan Merrill (famed songwriter of the Joan Jett hit ‘I Love Rock ’n’ Roll’) , Bernie Torme and Arthur Brown.

Grace is currently collaborating on The Twilight Zone, a new project with Dan Beaulaurier and legendary pedal steel player BJ Cole (Elton John, Cat Stevens, Bjork, R.E.M). She also co-writes and performs with The Vibrators’ Knox and Mariangela Demurtas (Tristania), and has performed alongside Slade’s Noddy Holder, co-starring at London’s Union Chapel in a musical production of Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’.

On June 17, the 'Metamorphosis' single will be available everywhere, including Spotify and Apple Music. The full ‘Metamorphosis’ album will be released on July 15 and can be pre-ordered from the artist's store or through Bandcamp. Grace Solero will celebrate this release with a show on July 13 at The Dublin Castle in Camden, London. Tickets are limited and can be ordered at https://bit.ly/3aa5RAH

MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT Celebrate 'SEXPLOSION' 30th Anniversary!

MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT has built a legacy of experimentalism and glorification of pop-culture trash, and their 1991 WAX TRAX! RECORDS released SEXPLOSION encapsulates all of that gawdy, industrial madness, with the hit single "Sex on Wheelz" characterized as a "compressed and propulsive a celebration of fornication and driving as anything else America has ever come up with." (Ned Raggett, Allmusic). Often described as the Gothic-Disco legends' best work, both critically and commercially, SEXPLOSION celebrates 30 years of manic debauchery with a remastered reissue on limited edition vinyl On June 17 via Wax Trax!, featuring the never before heard track "Any Way Ya Wanna" from the original studio session,

“When Sexplosion! came out, I think some fans were put off by the disco style of the album, even though we had been using disco samples and beats in our previous two albums, just not so blatantly. Or maybe they didn’t like the fact we switched out the Satanic references for pin-up girls and sex. Whatever the case, it was time for us to mix things up, move on and explore new avenues. Besides, we had WAY too much fun writing it, and even more fun performing it live, which was really the whole point. And here we are 30 years later, revisiting this crazy album. It’s a bit surreal. At the time, I don’t think any of us thought we’d even live this long! I was really happy we found a forgotten track and some unreleased remixes to spice things up and add some more sex appeal to the Wax Trax! reissue.” - Buzz McCoy

“'Any Way ya Wanna' is a killer kool lost disko track found in the molten vaults of TKK, full of sex, escorted by flash” - Groovie Mann

Hailing from Chicago’s renowned Wax Trax! Records stable of recording artists, MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT have been conjuring up sonic tales of sex, blasphemy and kitschy horror since 1987. Along with label mates such as Front 242, KMFDM and Ministry, TKK (as often abbreviated), helped develop the industrial music genre, but they themselves continued to evolve, creating one of the most diverse repertoires in modern day music. Their sound can be described as electronic rock, heavily influenced by both disco and funk. One of their most distinctive characteristics is the use of spoken-word samples lifted from B-movies laced throughout their songs. Since debuting, they have released 13 studio albums, and their music has been featured in a variety of films, television/cable shows and soundtracks, all the while making a reputation for themselves as one of the most notorious and controversial cult bands of their generation.

Artist Franke Nardiello and musician Marston Daley, two Chicago neighbors who enjoyed late night burritos while watching foreign horror movies on VHS rented from the corner store, began conspiring to make a trashy B movie (in the style of Russ Meyer and John Waters) to be called “My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult”. While the film itself never came to fruition, they also wrote some music to be the accompanying soundtrack. Both worked at Wax Trax! Records in Chicago, and when the label heard the tracks, they were intrigued and eager to release it.

The duo took the title of the film as the name for their band, and decided to focus on the musical group full time. Taking the stage names Groovie Mann(Nardiello) and Buzz McCoy (Daley), they worked on creating an occult-biker meets disco-rock influence look for the project, which included a bevy of voluptuous back-up singers and dancers known as the BOMB GANG GIRLZ. The New York Times wrote, “Sex, blasphemy, big beats and go-go dancing; they’re all in a day’s work for My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult ”. This attracted the attention of indie fans and the ire of religious groups in practically equal measure. They released their first album I See Good Spirits And I See Bad Spirits in 1988 followed up by the hard-hitting dance floor classics "Kooler Than Jesus" and "A Girl Doesn’t Get Killed By A Make-Believe Lover Cuz It’s Hot," which featured no-wave chanteuse Lydia Lunch on vocals. By the time they released their second album, Confessions Of A Knife (1990), they were far and away one of the biggest selling acts on the label.

In 1991, the band embarked on the decadent “Sexplosion! Tour”, titled after their third album. Alternative Press reviewed the show as “Sin-sational!”. The tour was a success and the record sold so well that they signed a deal with Interscope Records shortly afterwards, and the single “Sex On Wheelz” became a sizeable radio hit.

Hollywood also embraced the group, recognizing the unique cinematic aspect of their sound. The band's music has appeared in a slew of films and tv/cable shows including, director Ralph Bakshi’s "Cool World”, Paul Verhoven’ssaucy “Showgirls”, MTV's "Beavis And Butthead", and the cult film classic “The Crow”, in which the ensemble make a cameo appearance performing their song “After The Flesh”. More recently the KULT was written into the story line of the 2014 film “Sexy Evil Genius” starring Seth Green.

THRILL KILL KULT continue to release new material via their own SleazeBox Records label (sleazebox.com) and tour extensively with a rotating cast of musicians and dubious characters, however the core of the project has always been Nardiello and Daley, both on record and in the live act. Their performances sizzle with sleaze and infectious grooves, as Melody Maker once described, "A red hot cabaret from Hell".

They begin their 4th decade this year with the release of a new album, In The House Of Strange Affairs on February 14th, and a North American tour commencing May 5th in Las Vegas. The current line-up is Groovie Mann (vocals), Buzz McCoy (keys), Mimi Star (bass), Justin Thyme (drums), Arena Rock (Bomb Gang Girl).

German Symphonic Metal shooting stars BEYOND THE BLACK look back on a stratospheric success story. Already their 2015 debut album hit like a bomb in their home country. Songs Of Love And Death besieged the German Top 15 for weeks and lead up to the band being awarded the Metal Hammer Award 2015 for “Best Debut”. Its successor Lost In Forever (2016) entered the German charts at #4 right away and paved the way for a huge tour from Germany over countries like the UK, Russia, and Japan. Since the band’s live debut in 2014, they have played the world’s biggest metal festival Wacken Open Air several times and toured as a support act for heavyweights such as AEROSMITH, KORN, SCORPIONS, SAXON, or WITHIN TEMPTATION. In the course of album release number three Heart Of The Hurricane BEYOND THE BLACK absolved their first own European headline tour in fall 2019 consisting of over 20 shows in 10 countries–most of them sold out. But even before finishing their touring cycle BEYOND THE BLACK got back to the studio to write record number four. The highly anticipated Horizons was finally released in June 2020, entered the German album charts at #3 (CH #6, AT #16, BE #53), and marks the band’s most successful album release to date.

ONI Drop Music Video For New Track "Against My Sins"; New Album 'Loathing Light' Out Now

Progressive metalcore project ONI, have released their new album 'Loathing Light' today via Ironshore Records. The album release is highlighted by a music video for brand new track "Against My Sins". Watch the new video below and stream "Against My Sins" along with the rest of the brand new album HERE.

ONI's creative force, Jake Oni tells us,

“The songs are very much written from the first person, with a lot of ‘I’ and ‘me’ in the lyrics as opposed to ‘us’ or ‘you'. The music encompasses many different vibes, both light, and dark. I really challenged myself to address difficult things I’ve gone through over the years.”

Prior to today's album release, ONI dropped singles "The Lie", "War Ender" featuring NYC trap metal outfit, City Morgue, "Heart To Stone" and "Secrets", featuring guest vocals from punk icon Iggy Pop and Lamb of God frontman, Randy Blythe. The track picked up numerous spins at rock radio across the globe, including the prestigious BBC Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter.

With 'Loathing Light', ONI have delivered a body of work that boasts an even bigger sound than their debut. The collection arrives with conviction, passion and depth, swaying wildly back and forth between vast, uplifting anthems and dark, raw confessions. It will go down as a mission statement for the young band, created by singer/lyricist Jake Oni, together with his closest allies, producer Josh Wilbur (Megadeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Gojira) and Lamb Of God guitarist, Mark Morton.

The result is 10 tracks spanning an emotional gamut, from all-out brutality to introspective desperation. Songs like 'Against My Sins' and 'Heart To Stone' wouldn’t sound totally out of place in a playlist alongside Of Mice & Men or Linkin Park. Yet the bludgeoning technicality - which earned ONI fans while touring with technical heavyweights Gojira - remains, making 'Loathing Light' a diverse and definitive album.

Jake and Mark had previously collaborated on Morton's debut solo album, 'Anesthetic', with Jake executive producing and co-writing the collection's #6 Active Rock radio hit, 'Cross Off' with Morton, Wilbur and the late Chester Bennington.

Jake continues, “Music is such a gift. If you can make music, and people respond to it? I've learned not to take that for granted. Count your blessings because the opportunity to make music is such a great one. We should always be grateful. Because it's the coolest job anyone could do.”

ABOUT ONI:

In modern times, the demonic ONI figure of Japanese Folklore transformed into a personification of protection, often adorning rooftops or leading festive parades to ward off evil. In this same spirit, the crushing aggressive music of ONI, the band, acts as an empowering weapon. ONI casts out the cruel demons of self-hatred, addiction, and whatever destructive obstacles one might face.

The band Metal Injection described as “key figures in paving the way for a new wave of progressive metalcore,” is led by frontman Jake Oni, who summons cathartic anthems from personal pain. In 2014, Jake first conceived of ONI as “the band I never got to see,” recruiting different players with technical skills to make music that shook the foundations of the scene. Comparisons to genre heavyweights like Meshuggah, Between The Buried And Me, and Protest The Hero came swiftly.

ONI released Ironshore on Metal Blade Records in 2016, heralded by No Clean Singing as “maybe the most impressive debut I’ve heard this year.” Songs like 'The Only Cure,' 'Barn Burner,' and 'Eternal Recurrence' whipped audiences into a frenzy as ONI traveled the globe. The band shared club and festival stages with Gojira, Turnstile, Code Orange, and Rob Zombie, among others.

ONI’s 2019 single 'Alone' racked up over 1.3M spins on Spotify alone.
