Darius & Friends Raises $516K for St. Jude, Bringing Total to Over $3 Million

DARIUS RUCKER SURPASSES $3 MILLION RAISED FOR ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL WITH 13TH ANNUAL “DARIUS & FRIENDS”

Sold-Out Ryman Auditorium and At-Home Live Stream Audiences Combine With Golf Tournament Participants to Raise Record-Setting $516,000 in 2022

All-Female Guest Lineup Featured Sheryl Crow, Lindsay Ell, Sara Evans, Caylee Hammack and Rachel Wammack

Nearly 15 years after first visiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® where he was immediately inspired to pledge his support, three-time GRAMMY Award winner Darius Rucker continues to give back, surpassing the $3 million mark in his fundraising efforts with this year’s 13th annual “Darius & Friends” benefit concert on Monday night, June 6, which was followed by his corresponding golf tournament and silent auction on Tuesday, June 7. This year’s event alone raised an all-time high of $516,000, bringing together a sold-out audience at the historic Ryman Auditorium with at-home fans watching via live stream.

Reflecting on his first visit to the hospital in 2008, Rucker explained to the sold-out crowd, “I’m talking to one administrator and she said, ‘when you bring your kid to St. Jude, we fly you in, we put you up, we feed you and we never send you a bill.’ I started talking to people there and it’s true. That day I said, I want to do something to help. I’m doing this for St. Jude – thank you guys for coming out!”

Now, more than a decade later, that effort has become an annual tradition. The benefit concert, which serves as an unofficial kickoff to CMA Fest as fans descend on Music City each summer, is famous for its surprise lineup of stars and this year was no different. “Tonight is ladies’ night!” Rucker declared when kicking off the evening, setting the stage for a night full of 30 hit songs and beloved covers by Rucker and his friends: Sheryl Crow, Lindsay Ell, Sara Evans, Caylee Hammack and Rachel Wammack.

After a live auction and donation round which added thousands to the fundraising tally, the evening’s true purpose was on display as Addie, a St. Jude cancer survivor who was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 15 years old and has been in remission for five years, earned a standing ovation with her acapella rendition of “Never Be Enough” from “The Greatest Showman.”

Rucker kicked off the main event with a trio of hits – his Platinum-certified No. 1s “This” and “For the First Time” followed by his latest release, the timely “Same Beer Different Problem” – before introducing the first friend of the evening as ACM and CMA Award-winner Sara Evans took the stage to perform her enduring chart-topping hits “Suds in the Bucket” and “A Little Bit Stronger” before rounding out her set with a cover of Yvonne Ellman’s “If I Can’t Have You.”

Rucker then returned to the stage, thrilling the crowd with his Double Platinum-certified No. 1 “Alright” and Platinum-certified chart topper “Come Back Song” before introducing rising star and Muscle Shoals native Rachel Wammack, who performed her own “Bless Your Little Heart” and “Like Me” before thrilling the at-capacity crowd with a rousing rendition of Miranda Lambert’s Gold-certified “Little Red Wagon.”

The evening’s host continued the show with his hits “Homegrown Honey” and “If I Told You” as well as Hootie & the Blowfish classic “Hold My Hand” before introducing his recent Darius Rucker Live theater tourmate Caylee Hammack, who performed her debut single “Family Tree” and recent release “Forged in the Fire” before bringing the crowd to their feet with her rocking version of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues.” Rucker then returned to the stage, joining Hammack for a duet of his unreleased song “Never Been Over,” written with Brothers Osborne’s John Osborne and previewing what’s to come on his forthcoming album currently in the works.

Rucker kept the Hootie & the Blowfish nostalgia coming as he performed “Let Her Cry” accompanied by the chorus of a sold out Mother Church audience, before continuing the singalong with his latest No. 1 hit, “Beers And Sunshine.”

The Ryman audience then erupted with joy as Sheryl Crow took the stage, performing her Platinum-certified chart topper “If It Makes You Happy” and “Everyday Is A Winding Road” as well as being joined by Rucker for a poignant duet of “The First Cut is the Deepest,” with Rucker calling the “Darius & Friends” veteran “a true legend.”

Donning a white tuxedo jacket, he then performed a jazz section featuring Frank Sinatra’s “Summer Wind” and “Fly Away” backed by a brass quartet and his all-star band. He then introduced the final guest of the evening, with ACM and CMA nominated songstress Lindsay Ell bringing the crowd to their feet for an extended guitar solo during her performance of her latest single “Right On Time” plus “I Don’t Love You” as well as a remarkable cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition.”

Rucker closed out the memorable evening with a rousing cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” as the show then ended according to tradition, with Rucker joined by the sold-out Ryman crowd for a “Wagon Wheel” singalong, the feel-good energy throughout the auditorium symbolic of the night as a whole.

This year’s milestone fundraising event adds yet another successful page to the decade-plus history of “Darius & Friends.” Prior guests have included Lauren Alaina, Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Brothers Osborne, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, John Daly, Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum, Ashley McBryde, A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys, Brad Paisley, Kenny Rogers and Tommy Thayer of KISS, among many others.

The annual fundraising event, made possible with support from generous sponsors AMD, Hendrix Enterprises, CDW, Intel, Fanatics, Hewlett-Packard, CAA and Arrow Electronics, helps ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – so they can focus on helping their child live.

Hank Williams Jr. Releases "Fireman Ring The Bell" from Upcoming 'Rich White Honky Blues' 6/17

As Hank Williams Jr. readies fans for Rich White Honky Blues, set for next Friday, June 17 via Easy Eye Sound, the Country Music Hall of Famer debuts his take on R.L. Burnside’s “Fireman Ring the Bell,” a high-tempo blues burner, driven by punchy slide guitar punctuated by the longtime legendary country outlaw’s dynamic vocals.

A 12-song collection reprising classics from Robert Johnson, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Burnside, Muddy Waters, Big Joe Turner and a few from Bocephus himself, captured live over the course of just three days by GRAMMY-winning producer Dan Auerbach, Rich White Honky Blues finds Williams making good on his legacy with a turpentine and rough wood take on the hill country blues that informed his father’s raw-boned style.

Today’s release follows “Jesus, Won’t You Come By Here,” which premiered exclusively with CMT and CMT.com. With Kenny Brown’s electric guitar, Auerbach on dobro and Bobbie Wood’s churchy piano and organ, the Country Music Hall of Famer sings with a robust conviction that suggests the larger than life amongst us transcend mortal limitations.

With another cover from blues legend Burnside, Williams’ “Georgia Women” premiered with Tennessean, sharing “Bocephus achieves tapping into the spirit of his father's iconic teacher Rufus ‘Tee Tot’ Payne, and a century of other blues legends.”

Released alongside the announcement of Rich White Honky Blues, album opener “.44 Special Blues” (Williams’ take on Robert Johnson’s “32-20 Blues”) was dubbed by Rolling Stone as “a lonesome, acoustic blues number,” while Consequence shared “the spry solo track digs into the County Music Hall of Famer’s bluesy roots, with its vintage-style refrain, ‘Baby where’d you stay last night,’ pairing perfectly to his well-worn wail.”

“You bring who you are,” Williams says. “All that... all... of... that... is where my music comes from. When we got into the studio, the more we played, the deeper we got – and the deeper we got, the harder I wanted to go.”

“It’s that rawness, and how real it is,” shares producer Auerbach. “I was always searching for the rawness, the darkest stuff. Once we were in it, as soon as we started playing, Hank was invested. That lifted everybody else up, to really push each other.”

About Hank Williams Jr.
Hank Williams Jr.’s extremely impressive resume has spawned 70 million albums sold worldwide, six PLATINUM albums, 20 GOLD albums, 13 No. 1 albums and 10 No. 1 singles. Marking 58 years since his first album in 1964, Williams Jr. is preparing to release his 57th studio album Rich White Honky Blues on June 17 via Easy Eye Sound, featuring 12 songs recorded over a three-day period by GRAMMY-winning producer Dan Auerbach. 2016’s It’s About Time (Nash Icon Records) included the history-making “Are You Ready for the Country,” as well as tunes “Dress Like an Icon,” “Just Call Me Hank,” “It’s About Time” and “The Party’s On” in addition to re-recorded versions of classics “Mental Revenge” and “Born to Boogie” with Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore and Brad Paisley on guitar. Following It’s About Time, Williams Jr. has released several compilations, including All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over: Great Tailgating Songs, A Country Boy Can Survive (Box Set), Hank Jr. Sings Hank Sr. and 35 Biggest Hits. He continues to add accolades to an extremely impressive resume, which includes ACM Entertainer of the Year, CMA Entertainer of the Year and BMI Icon, in addition to a GRAMMY win and coveted inductions into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and Country Music Hall of Fame.

A-Z Announce Self-Titled Debut Album - Out August 12th!

Featuring Ray Alder & Mark Zonder of Fates Warning!

Watch The Video for the First Single "The Machine Gunner"

In early 2020, famed former drummer for Fates Warning and WarlordMark Zonder, began working on new material with the vision of beginning a new, full-time band that would offer something different from his current catalog. The mission was to deliver straightforward, no-frills hard rock that speaks to a broader audience. The end result, which sees Zonder reunite with Fates Warning lead vocalist Ray Alder, along with bassist Philip Bynoe (Steve Vai, Warlord), guitarist Joop Wolters, and keyboardist Vivien Lalu, is A-Z! Today, the band is thrilled to announce their self-titled debut album will see an August 12, 2022 release via Metal Blade Records.

A-Z is pleased to share a new music video for the album's first single, titled "The Machine Gunner", below.

Speaking about the band's debut album, Zonder (drums) comments:

"It has been a long time coming, but we are all very excited to share A-Z with the world and get the show on the road!! With an exceptional-sounding album and brilliant artwork from Hugh Syme, let the games begin!"

PRE-ORDER HERE!

About A-Z:

When Mark Zonder, famed former Fates Warning and Warlord drummer, started working on material in early 2020 he had a very clear vision for the band he wanted to put together. “I was thinking beer commercials, car commercials, and Cobra Kai. I wanted to have a very accessible band that would appeal to the masses and would lead to the ability to tour larger venues and build a second and third record off the success of the first. I did not want to hear things like, ‘I don’t hear a single, it is too proggy, I just don’t get it, let me listen to it a few more times’. I knew from myself and the others that I would recruit, it would have some sophisticated music parts but the big hook was the main priority.” The result was A-Z, and while Zonder is adamant it is not a supergroup that is doing a ‘one and done’ record it has a stellar lineup, reuniting him with Fates Warning vocalist Ray Alder, Warlord/Steve Vai/Ring of Fire bassist Philip Bynoe, guitarist Joop Wolters and keyboardist Vivien Lalu, the combination of these players stirring up a very specific kind of magic that could not be replicated.

Things came together smoothly from the start, Zonder sending drum patterns and grooves to first recruit Lalu, and he would write songs using guitar sounds so between the two of them they had basic song structures pretty quickly. Zonder knew Bynoe would jump on board as they have a long history and mutual respect and Lalu had worked with Wolters for years, recruiting him for the band. Both Wolters and Lalu brought in great musical ideas that were turned into songs. The goal was always the same: shorter songs and getting right to the chorus, no twelve-minute songs, and everyone found it easy working to this remit. With everything else coming together nicely, finding the right singer was the hardest aspect of the whole process.

“I had sent out a basic song to over 20 different singers, some popular named singers and some unknown, but completely struck out,” says Zonder. “Then I just decided to call Ray as I was not sure what he was up to. I figured it could not hurt to get in touch. I do remember speaking with him back in the day and him talking about how he loved this kind of music. I sent him a track or two and he just killed it.” Adds Alder, “I found this a chance to do something completely different than what I am used to, being in a prog metal band for 30 years. I find the blend of the 80s, 90s and a touch of 70s style of music very cool, and it is great to work with Mark after all of these years.” Thrilled to have him on board, Zonder did not have a list of demands. “My only words to him were ‘do whatever you want.’ I was not going to tell him what to do. Same for all of the others guys. Yes, there has to be some editing and making decisions, but when it came to the music I just wanted everyone to do what they do best.” The results are undeniable, from the high octane stomper “The Machine Gunner”, to the gorgeous sway of “Rise Again” or the towering “Stranded”, every track an anthem that sounds like only the biggest venues could contain them.

The band’s name came courtesy of Alder - A-Z = Alder thru Zonder - and it fit straight away. “What I liked is that it did not limit what someone would think of the band. If we named the band Scary Serpent it would give a certain direction and I did not want people to prejudge the band and record,” Zonder says. Likewise, self-titling the record made sense. “I did not want to give a direction idea to the audience. If we named the album Far Side of the Horizon, people would probably think ‘prog band’. But if you named it The Machine Gunner, it would give a totally different direction for thought.” For artwork, wanting to again get the best possible contributor, they turned to the famed Hugh Syme (Rush, Fates Warning), who delivered the vivid image of a zebra eating an apple, encompassing the band name in a sly way. “Again, hire the best people you can find and just let them do what they do. The artwork is absolutely fantastic and really fits the whole concept. He is truly the best. Just a great guy to work with.”

SATYRICON Releases New Album, Satyricon & Munch | You Can Stream and Download it NOW!

You Can Stream and Download it NOW!

Physical Pre-Order Starts Now

Get Your Copy HERE!

In a unique collaboration with the world famous MUNCH museum in Oslo, Norway, SATYRICON have created a musical composition in album format, entitled Satyricon & Munch, now available on all digital platforms! The album is also now available to be pre-ordered in physical formats.

The new music, created by SATYRICON mastermind Satyr, is written in the shape of a so-called musical work, it is 56 minutes long and transcends any genre barriers. Although the music was written for the art exhibition, it clearly has the emotional depth to take on any environment outside the exhibition room. The new, astonishing and critically acclaimed art exhibition of the same title is on display at the MUNCH museum in Oslo until August 28, 2022.

Pre-Order your physical copy of Satyricon & Munch HERE:

Satyr on Satyricon & Munch:

“In the musical work Satyricon & Munch, you will find my musical response to the emotions that the works of Edvard Munch instilled in me when working on the art exhibition. One could therefore say that the album release is not only a consequence of the making of an exhibition, but also a reflection of my studies of Edvard Munch’s life and philosophy on the making of art  –  and my eagerness to push myself as an artist. I deeply appreciate his emphasis on feeling over technique, his will to experiment and his determination to walk his own way. Of course these are also core values to SATYRICON, which in this particular case becomes even more important.

To make this into what it is, it became clear early on that we needed to reverse the roles in the instrumentation: What has been complimentary in the past must now perhaps take more of a lead role, what is given in a regular song is perhaps not needed at all for this project. These types of reflections. To create the layers of emotion and atmospheres that we aspired to, the instrumentation needed to be rich in diversity. That is why we have a wide range of old school analog synthesizers, electric guitar, baritone guitar, bass guitar, drums, theremin, cello, viola, bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet, jouhikko, Hardanger fiddle, grand piano to name some. Some of these instruments are particularly receptive to the personal input of the musician and very suitable for creating the depth of layers that was necessary for this project. It has been important to us to break away from formatted approaches and focus strictly on what this project needs.

Black metal’s true nature is being limitless and while the format is unlike anything you’ve heard from SATYRICON before, the tonality and personal signature is highly recognizable to those who know their SATYRICON. We encourage everyone to refrain from trying to label the music and just accept that there is no need to. It is certainly not film music, it is not ambient and it is not something you have to make up a word for. It is SATYRICON.”

Satyricon & Munch is now available for pre-order in the following formats:

·      Deluxe Box

·      2LP Gatefold PICTURE LP – limited to 500 worldwide

·      2LP Gatefold MONOLITHIC GREY – limited to 300 worldwide

·      2LP Gatefold TRANSPARENT – limited to 300 worldwide

·      2LP Gatefold BLACK

·      1CD Mediabook

Founded back in 1991, SATYRICON is a true legend in the black metal scene, which they heavily influenced from the early 1990’s until today. Early works, such as Dark Medieval Times and The Shadowthrone, are genre classics, while later works break free from traditional black metal. The band never strayed away from other musical influences and implemented them in their music, which led to multiple awards, gold records and #1 albums, as well as huge headline tours and festivals all over the world. With Satyricon & Munch, the band sets new standards in contemporary music in a monumental, yet intimate experience.

MUNCH museum in Oslo is one of the most famous museums in the world, dedicated to the works of famous Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. The museum holds paintings such as The Scream, Madonna and Anxiety. It re-opened in October 2021 with an impressive building in the heart of Oslo, that gained even more attention worldwide. The collaboration between one of the world’s most well-known black metal bands and the museum is unique on a worldwide scale.

WHO ON EARTH Release New Single & Video for "On The Brink"

New Jersey hard rock quintet WHO ON EARTH are back with another hard-hitting single and video from their forthcoming debut album, 'Blame', due out this fall. The new track, titled "On The Brink", delivers a potent combination of earth moving vocals, guitar virtuosity, powerful bass, and thunderous drums that have seemingly been lost in the modern-day shuffle!

Speaking about the lyrical themes behind "On The Brink", bassist Pete Rizzi says:

“It is sung from the perspective of anybody who is in the middle to lower class. It’s the 99% of the population who are constantly bombarded with fake news, manipulated media, misleading advertising, and inflation. Trying to make ends meet is becoming more difficult and depressing. We do the best we can, despite all of these factors working against us, while reminding ourselves that friends and family are what matter the most.”

Inspired by the NWOBH and classic rock acts of the past, Who On Earth is comprised of Coosh (vocals), Pete Rizzi (bass), Joe D' Aqui (drums), Steve Eagle (guitar), and Rob Damms (guitar), with the band slated to release their debut LP, 'Blame', later this year. The album was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by guitar virtuoso Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob) at his Sonic Stomp Studio in NY. Orlando also contributed his incredible skills as a guest guitarist on the record.

For more WHO ON EARTH, the band is playing at Orange Loop Rock Festival in Atlantic City, NJ (June 11). For more details, visit orangelooprockfest.com.

About WHO ON EARTH

Somebody needed to pick up the torch for hard rock and heavy metal with real grit and gusto and without a gimmick. Enter Who On Earth. The New Jersey quintet— Coosh [vocals], Pete Rizzi [bass], Joe D’Aqui [drums], Steve Eagle [guitar], and Rob Dams [guitar]—deliver a one-two punch of hard-hitting hooks and airtight instrumentation bolted down by pummeling grooves and piercing riffs. With virtuoso guitarist and producer Mike Orlando [Adrenaline Mob, Noturnall] in their corner, the musicians pay homage to rock’s past as they usher in its future on their independent full-length debut, Blame.

It all gestated from a question…

“We wanted to fill in the blank of ‘Who On Earth is going to bring back good rock and metal?’,” explains Pete. “We grew up on the new wave of British heavy metal and classic rock. We went through grunge and other great genres of metal. We wanted to resurrect the melodies, hooks, and guitar solos. We went back to our roots, yet upgraded everything with modern production.”

The group made their bones through countless gigs across the Tristate area in every dive bar and concert hall with a stage. Along the way, Coosh and Pete tore up venues as part of MadHaus, performing marathon covers. In 2021, the longtime friends chose to forego covers, hunker down, and compose an original album. Pete invited Joe D’Aqui—the ever-versatile drummer of his thrash band PIERCED—to join the fold. In order to bring the record to life, the band hit the studio with none other than Mike Orlando. Over the course of the next year, the guys endured numerous COVID delays as they recorded with Orlando behind the board as producer, engineer, and “stunt” guitarist. Nodding to everyone from Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Metallica to Rush, Alice In Chains, and Tool, they placed storytelling in the spotlight.

“Most of our songs are complete stories from start to finish,” notes Coosh. “We’re talking about our lives.”

In the end, Who On Earth fills a void for rock ‘n’ roll.

“We just tried to write good songs,” Pete leaves off. “We’ve gone back to what we grew up on. It’s still valuable and relevant. It can’t die.”

WHO ON EARTH Lineup:

Coosh - vocals

Pete Rizzi - bass

Joe D' Aqui - drums

Steve Eagle - guitar

Rob Damms - guitar

ABOUT KREATOR

Decades into their game-changing career, German metal legends KREATOR find themselves more successful and influential than ever. They’ve stuck to their guns, weathered the trends and outlasted their peers – never once wavering from the ferocious noise that excited them as teens. If anything, that thirst for sonic warfare is just as strong, if not stronger, today. Where others have suffered from creative malnourishment and artistic uncertainty, something which even metal’s biggest and best are prone to, KREATOR have always charged full steam ahead – thanks to the red-eyed conviction and fearless determination of founding singer and guitarist Miland ‘Mille’ Petrozza. On 1985 debut Endless Pain, the Essen innovators created the template for extreme noise to come, fusing elements of thrash and black metal in ways that had never been heard before. Their sophomore album of the following year, Pleasure To Kill, became one of the landmark albums of 1986 – making metal history alongside key releases from Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth. And onwards they marched, bringing hellish anthems to the masses in every album that followed, with a track record few could ever rival.

The last decade has been a particularly exciting time for the group, with 2012’s Phantom Antichrist proving how they could embrace modern production techniques and move with the times without forsaking the underground spirit and defiance which made them a household name in the first place. Its successor, 2017’s Gods Of Violence, saw them topping the German charts for the very first time in their career, a feat virtually unheard for a band of such thunderous intensity. Returning this year with fifteenth opus Hate Über Alles – which marks their first studio album with Frédéric Leclercq (ex-Dragonforce, Sinsaenum) on bass, joining Mille, guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö and drummer Jürgen ‘Ventor’ Reil – the metal titans are once again channeling an unholy heaviness strong enough to tilt the earth off-axis.

Conquering and destroying in the way only KREATOR can, Hate Über Alles will undoubtedly sit proudly amongst the finest metal releases of this year. And so onwards they march once more…

Sleep Signals Release Haunting New Music Video for Single "The Return"

WATCH "The Return" below:

Stream/Download "The Return" here:

https://music.sleepsignals.net/thereturn

"We are so very excited to finally share this music video with you! This is the first thing we've released since the bus accident and it's ironic that even though we filmed this early last year, the single is appropriately named 'The Return.' It marks our comeback and speaks to the adversity that we've pushed through on what has now become several unfortunate occasions, so we are very proud of it. We worked so hard on this video and it is the most impressive thing we've done to date. We can't wait until you see it!" says the band's frontman Robert Cosgrove.

Sleep Signals have garnered a dedicated following through relentless touring, their explosive live performances, and their ability to blend catchy hooks with their high-energy songwriting style.

In 2021 the band released a new EP, Ethereal, featuring the single, "Fireproof,"which garnered the band's first commercial radio success. The single was featured on Sirius XM's Octane and received spins on 80+ US FM radio stations, spending 11 weeks on the Billboard Active Rock radio chart.

Unfortunately, 2021 also saw the band experience a severe bus accident on tour with POD, From Ashes To New, and All Good Things that left several members in the hospital and rehabbing injuries for months. The band released the music video for "The Return" to commemorate their comeback from the accident and look to get back to the touring circuit as soon as late 2022.

Founded in 2014, the band hit the road in early 2015 and has since played over 500 shows in 45 states. Prior to the accident, the band was coming off of major full US tours with heavy hitters Hellyeah and Nonpoint, as well as Atreyu, Memphis May Fire, Ice Nine Kills, All That Remains, Attila, Escape the Fate, and Like A Storm.

“Sleep Signals embodies the same DIY hustling ethic that Ice Nine Kills has used since the beginning. Great songs, and a work ethic that is quickly making this band stand out" says Spencer Charnas of (Ice Nine Kills).

Alex Varkatzas (Ex-Atreyu) adds, “Seeing Sleep Signals' tireless work ethic and energetic live shows nightly, it’s only a matter of time before this band is a household name."

Whiskey Myers Release "The Wolf" Ahead of 7/29 Album TORNILLO

Check Out People’s Exclusive Photo Gallery from the Band’s Sold-Out Red Rocks Amphitheatre Debut HERE

Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival Debut Set for Next Friday, June 17 as the Tornillo Tour Continues Selling Out Venues 10,000 Strong

Riding high from the news earlier this week that four of their songs have earned new RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications, genre-bending band Whiskey Myers continues to share new music with today’s release of “The Wolf” off their forthcoming album Tornillo, set for release July 29 via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records with distribution by Thirty Tigers. Pre-order / pre-save the album HERE.

The song is the latest in a string of recent releases previewing the album, including lead single “John Wayne,”currently climbing the Top 5 on the Texas Regional Radio Report chart, and is emblematic of the sound Esquirecelebrates as “straight-up, booze-swilling, highway-driving, heart-on-your-sleeve, blood-on-your-knuckles country music.” Written solo by lead singer Cody Cannon, the lyrics are a battle cry from the independent band achieving massive mainstream success:

I’ve done rattled through a tempest, I’ve done rocked through the storm
These scars that I bear are hard earned and battle worn
They’re from crawling and scratching the whole damn way
Everything that you see is uncut and self-made

So who in the hell you think you're playing with now?
You done fucked around and let the wolf out
And I’ll be prowling while you sleep
You're playing for fun, I’m playing to eat

The five-and-a-half-minute rocker is driven by Tornillo’s signature horns section and a blazing guitar riff, with American Songwriter recently proclaiming, “Whiskey Myers [is] in a league of their own with their signature hard-rocking sound on full display… Saddle up and settle in because Whiskey Myers is ready to take listeners on a country, rock, and blues-infused wild ride.”

Fans also got a sneak peek at the new song during the band’s sold-out Red Rocks debut earlier this week, where the six-piece thrilled the nearly 10,000 fans in attendance with two-plus hours of nonstop music and proved what Classic Rock Magazine declares of Whiskey Myers: “Authenticity: you can’t buy it, you can’t bluff it. And you can’t beat it when it comes to delivering dirty, down-home, electric guitar music from the American south.”

The Tornillo Tour continues through the summer with numerous already-sold-out stops, plus Whiskey Myers will make their debut at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival next Friday, June 17, and will host the return of their personally curated Firewater Music Festival Sept. 29 – Oct. 1 outside Kansas City.

Boston Heavy Rockers MAMMOTHOR Drop a Brand New Single “BURY THE MOTIVE"

Mammothor has not let the pandemic stop their musical output. With a busy show schedule
taking shape for 2022, including shows with Drowning Pool, Ill Nino, Hed(PE) and Sumo Cyco, the band has been busy producing new material and playing around the Northeast. Mammothorentered The Halo Studio in Windham, ME to record with Kevin Billingslea (Lamb of God) and Chillhouse Studios in Charlestown, MA with Will Holland (Fall Out Boy) for recording and tapped Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall), at Planet Z in Hadley, MA to mix and master.

"BURY THE MOTIVE" is the eighth track of their latest album. Written by Josh Johnson (guitar) and Travis Lowell (vocals), the single launched worldwide on May 27th, on all major streaming platforms, and now, the music video is ready for the fans. The song reflects on the state of gun violence and school shootings that has been plaguing our society for decades now. In an ironic twist, on the day of the single release, another school shooting took place. The video reflects on the issue by way of an android who, after becoming sentient, witnesses the senseless violence that humans commit on one another, rejecting the notion that “being human” is anything to be proud of, and rebelling against its maker.

BURY THE MOTIVE

We lost the war today / The headline's the same /She'll never make the grade / Bullet in her brain /

Forgotten, buried in an early grave / A face she couldn't recognize /A stranger's hand would take

her life

Bury the motive / Let no one out alive / Unhinged, and devoted to the marks within the sights

Our fingers point with blame / Though we can't explain / He tried to save the day

Now he's gone away / Just a number, left without a name / A face he couldn't recognize /A

stranger's hand would take his life

Liars, our leaders leave the people blind / Ready, armed, and focused on exploiting the loss of life

Clenched fists / Closed eyes / Coloring an open canvas /Mind blank, mesmerized / Bodies fall /

Hear their cries/ One more trip around the sun /Farewell, so long, goodbye / We, The People, blind

PHARMACOSE Laments with Fresh New Soundscapes on Third Track, "If I Were Better," from 'Ascension's Constraint'!

Jacksonville, FL Alternative Rock project PHARMACOSE has released the third single, "If I Were Better," and second literary part, from their ongoing musical and literary project, Ascension's Constraint. Infused with an eclectic combination of electronic pop ala Depeche Mode and Duran Duran as well as soaring, near falsetto vocals and energetic, pop-punk and classic rock instrumentation, this newest imagining from the multi-talented, experimental, and perfectionist front-man, WESLEY JONES, defies neat categorization, evoking a wholly new auditory experience for music fans across genres. Not only does the newest track reject aural expectations, it adds a deeper layer of intrigue with a nuanced story, reminiscent of such music storytellers as Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, underpinned by poignant lyrics and a relatable experience that holds listeners' attention as they lose themselves in the composition.

Says WES JONES in discussing the new single and written section:

“'If I Were Better' is the next track off Ascension’s Constraint, to be paired with part 2 of the novel of the same name. In a nutshell, it’s about seeing how things are and feeling powerless to change them. In a way, it’s a lamentation. At this point in the novel, Alex, our protagonist, sees that he is being reeled into a plot, whether he wants to be in it or not. He’s not yet accepted his role. He’s still figuring things out, and he may even be in denial.

I didn’t mean it to be entirely defeatist. I think it represents how we sort of envision things playing out when we feel hopeless. It’s like we just want it to be over, even if the outcome is bad. A lot of times things don’t play out nearly as bad as we envision them, especially if we trust ourselves and not look to our “leaders” to help us out. I think the biggest thing we can do in such situations is accept the situation for what it is. Denial never really helps.

As far as production goes, this is a song I produced, recorded, and mixed on my own. I’ll be doing that more and more. I’m not perfect yet, and I never will be, but I think by the end of this record I’ll be a lot closer to where I want to be as an artist and producer. Things are starting to move out of the big studios, and while some purists lament this, I embrace it. The music industry has been gatekeeping long enough. Why should a bunch of suits get to decide if I’m given a chance to be heard? I think music is moving into an entirely new era, and some people just don’t want to accept it, and instead of trying to evolve they are actively trying to prevent things from going in that direction. It’s sort of a microcosm of the times we’re living in.

I love the idea of being able to do songs in my project studio. Doing a song from start to finish on my own time has been difficult but also one of the most fun things I’ve ever done. It allows me to keep my vision intact. Don’t get me wrong, collaboration with other people is great. I love working with Lu and am excited to keep doing so. But, over the years, I’ve learned that the more people you add in, the more your vision can get watered down. It’s awesome when something comes together from a jam, but a lot of times that doesn’t happen. So, by the end of this project, hopefully I’ll be able to push the envelope of what someone can do on their own, so long as they work hard and never settle."

Pharmacose is a collaborative alternative rock project hailing from Jacksonville, FL, that combines steadfast analog sounds with cutting edge flair. The project– a portmanteau of “pharmaceutical” and “comatose” –began as a collaborative effort between Jones and producer and bassist Lucio Rubino. Frequent collaborators include drummer Albert Cruz and guitarist Kevin Horne, who also round out their live act. They have previously released material under the name Digital Array.

Jones, a Memphis native, formed Pharmacose in 2017 with producer Lu Rubino shortly after moving to Jacksonville to pursue new career opportunities. Rubino, a veteran producer and bassist, has worked with Paramore, Storyside B, and The Showdown, among many others. Their creative process was chiefly inspired by Jones, a medical doctor, and his past struggles with mental illness.

Drawing on such themes as reintegration to life in the wake of acute mental health episodes and the side effects of psychiatric medication, Pharmacose wields their brand of rock to let those suffering from mental illness to know that they are not alone. The result is a powerful, explosive lyrical journey into the depths of existence that would appeal to fans of Queens of the Stone Age, Porcupine Tree, Starset, Chevelle, The Mars Volta, and beyond.

By confronting anger, shame, and ultimately galvanizing hope, Pharmacose advocates for the awareness of mental health. Through vibrant soundscapes suffused with riveting synth. The group hopes to empower people to seek help, push through, and move from isolation toward connection.

Pharmacose released Prescription Fiction, Part 1, in 2020. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were gearing up to play live shows in anticipation of the release of part 2. With the subsequent lockdowns canceling those shows, Jones decided to begin working on new material and used the time to explore new sounds and assume a greater role in production. The result is several new songs, which ultimately completed Prescription Fiction as an entire album, rather than a separate chapter.

DOWNSET Releases Powerful Socio-Political Album, "Maintain"!

Los Angeles' groundbreaking rap/hardcore pioneers, DOWNSET., have released their first album in 8 years, "Maintain," today with Nuclear Blast. Featuring stand out cuts like "The Place To Be," the band's long-awaited 6th album draws inspiration from their early hardcore and hiphop roots while reigniting their passion for the streets and fury for the current societal and political injustices.

Guitarist Rogelio Lozano states:

“2 Years ago, if Someone would have asked me my thoughts on releasing an album on June 10th, 2022 with Nuclear Blast Records, I would have said not in a million years...All I can say is that God blessed us with this opportunity and chance of a lifetime for all this to come about. Two years in the making, we sincerely are happy to present the 'Maintain' Album. With Nick Jet Producing, the outcome of the recorded material exceeded our expectations. For those who have been patiently waiting 8 years for a new downset. release, thank you so much for all the support “

Following their recent signing with Nuclear Blast, DOWNSET. reissued their controversial demos that helped ignite a street led movement around the world, "Anger/Ritual" 7" and "About Ta Blast" 7", which were initially released 30 years ago.

Additionally, DOWNSET debuted a music video for the bonus demo track "Breed The Killer," that features vintage live footage of them performing the song. Watch the video below.

The word "maintain" is defined as "a condition or state of affairs; to provide with the necessities for life or existence." To have the ability to maintain is to be able to hold fast to the unpredictable balance that is life, and to find a way to prosper through the most fluctuating of circumstances. LA hardcore natives DOWNSET are no stranger to this concept, going on to use life’s checks and balances as the inspiration for their first new album in almost 8 years: "Maintain."

Recently signed to world renowned heavy metal label Nuclear Blast Records, and having recently released reissued throwbacks of their original demos, DOWNSET have reawakened the passion of old-school hardcore within themselves, and have tapped back into the energy that fueled them from the beginning: life, death, love, hate, injustice… and the streets.

From the beginning I’ve had concerns about the problematic nature of society,” explains founder and vocalist Rey Oropeza. “I reflect on the experiences of my life. There are concepts that should be challenged and thought about. Everyone is going to come to their own conclusions on how they feel about inequality, misogyny, political topics, etc. but all of these things have kept me critically focused on my activism over the years. My abilities as a vocalist revolve a lot around what I’m feeling, going through, or witnessing at the time; pretty practical.”

During pre-production, "Maintain" was the first song that we plucked out of the air,” describes founder and guitarist Rogelio “Roy” Lozano. “Going through hard times you’ve got to hang in there, hang on, MAINTAIN and hold it down. During the first wave of the pandemic, we had a lot of fear. Everyone was getting sick, people were dying like our manager Scott Koenig (RIP). It was amazing that we were able to pull all the work off that we did for this album through lockdown.”

With Lozano producing and working in a variety of recording studios alongside the likes of successful engineers and artists (Jerry Finn, Greg Fiddlemin; Cypress Hill, Powerflo, etc.) for many years, it was only natural for him to take the helm of the recording process for Maintain." “I was lucky to have full responsibility for this album. It was kind of like a graduation; I was finally able to produce my own album in a big studio. I was really happy and confident and with the help of Nick Jett from TERROR we had the perfect combination for DOWNSET and for the sound of this album. Jett made it really easy for us to go through pre-production and the writing process.” The album was then mastered to perfection by Howie Weinberg in Los Angeles, California.

Breathing life back into something that’s not only old school, but that actually stands for something is meaningful work, and meaningful art: “We had a good time and we’re really happy with the way this record turned out,” says Lozano. “I’m happy with the tones, and with the maturity we show in our writing and recording this time around. Regardless of what kind of responses we get, we genuinely love the album, and that’s what really matters for us. Just like Rey’s lyrics to the final song on the album, READY FOR IT, I’m ready for it, bring it on.

DOWNSET Lineup:
Rey Oropeza | Vocals
Rogelio Lozano | Guitar
Phillip Gonzales | Bass
Bobby Blood | Drums

San Francisco soulful rock outfit SEAL PARTY release 'Maison', previewing debut album 'MMXXII'

"A dynamic duo where their soul music talents can shine when given the opportunity to create for themselves. Their style can be compared to greats of the genre, such as Sly and the Family Stone, Dexys Midnight Runners, and The Isley Brothers" ~ Vents Magazine

"Fun improvised sense of music collectivism... Soulful, optimistic and uplifting, Seal Party's music packs a powerful mix of rock, soul and R&B, created and performed with taste, along with a good sense of groove" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"The uplifting lyrics combined with the sweet harmonies are smooth and calming... a three-minute escape from stressful realities to reflect on life’s silver linings and appreciate every minute despite ups and downs" ~ Music-News.com

Soulful art-rock outfit Seal Party has released their new single 'Maison', a rich and captivating taster of their forthcoming debut album 'MMXXII', which will be released this summer. An appearance by R&B organ wizard Chris Rob (Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Anita Baker, Talib Kweli) brings 'Maison' to a soulful, timeless place.

Filled with improvisation, fury, and lyrical beauty, 'MMXXII' evokes ‘70s soul, rock and R&B while maintaining a raw and exploratory approach. This eclectic work meshes unusual songwriting and musicianship with a style that is at once playful and rebellious.

As a songwriting-production duo, Chris McGrew (drums/production) and Kevin Seal (keyboards/vocals) formed Seal Party after many years of helping other artists realize their visions. On their debut record, these studio veterans let their own voices come to the fore, revealing their fury and beauty, both rock and groove. Epic melodies soar over tasty chords to tell their stories.

Surprising sounds come when sidemen step into the spotlight. Habitually session musicians, quarantine culture gave McGrew and Seal access to an empty recording studio -- namely Studio C of Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco (AKA Wally’s HydeOut), in the room of the former Wally Heider Studios, where artists ranging from the Dead Kennedys to the Grateful Dead to Herbie Hancock recorded some of their most legendary sides.

Recorded by Liam Wesley Craddock and Chris McGrew, the 'MMXXII' album was mixed by McGrew and Jaimeson Durr (Sammy Haggar, Joe Satriani, Hope Sandoval).

Seizing the moment, they invited world-class horn players, violinists, organists and vocalists, each equipped with hand sanitizer and throwing their best ideas into the mix. 'MMXXII' features an all-star cast of 22 collaborators, including blues and RnB royalty like Isaiah Sharkey (D’Angelo, John Mayer, Patti LaBelle) and Keyon Harrold (D’Angelo, Maxwell), punk icon Larry Boothroyd (Jello Biafra & the Guantanamo School of Medicine, Victims Family), bassist Uriah Duffy (Whitesnake, Fantastic Negrito), Ben Misterka (Collectivity), saxophonist Kenneth Whalum (Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Maxwell, Justin Timberlake), trumpeter Rich Armstrong (Spoon, Boz Scaggs, Tony! Toni! Tone!, Thomas Dolby), guitarist Jonnie Axtell (Psychefunkapus, Dee Snider, Tone Loc) and saxophonist Daniel Casares (Atta Kid, Jazz Mafia, the New Mastersounds).

The result is 'MMXXII' - a continuous, expansive, engrossing album that is eclectic and beautiful. Decades of studio magic seep into the tracks, like the casks flavoring the Scotch. Stretching across genre boundaries, jazz luminaries and punk stalwarts join together to create a series of unique songs.

As of June 10, the 'Maison' single is available everywhere digitally, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where the full 'MMXXII' album can also be pre-ordered. On August 5, the digital version will be released via New Age Distribution and the CD released by X Racer Productions. The album release party will take place on June 30 at San Francisco's Rickshaw Stop. Tickets can be obtained at https://bit.ly/3PHCUML.

CARNATION's latest album 'Where Death Lies' was released on September 18, 2020 and can be heard in full HERE! The cover artwork and further album details can be found below.

Embrace the new death metal overlords and their second full length ‘Where Death Lies’! CARNATION equals blistering and crushing death metal madness and, with this new chapter, return with relentless destruction and greater punishment than ever before.

Early 2013, guitar player Jonathan Verstrepen created the band to show his appreciation for the old school death metal legends from the ‘80s & early ‘90s. Vocalist Simon Duson, bass player Yarne Heylen, guitar player Bert Vervoort, and drummer Vincent Verstrepen were summoned to complete the band, and it didn’t take long until the chemistry between this quintet hit critical mass.

The Belgian’s first EP offering, entitled ‘Cemetery of the Insane’, was released upon the masses in 2015 . Tracks such as “Explosive Cadavers” or “The Rituals of Flesh” take you back in time to the better days of shredding riffs, neck-breaking drums, and skull-crushing guttural vocals.

The live rituals that followed were executed with stone cold merciless aggression. CARNATION delivered their bloodbath at select festivals across Europe during 2015 and 2016. Their next journey led them to distant Asia for their first tour across mainland Japan. This resulted in the infamous ‘Live at Asakusa Deathfest’ album, which saw the light in (2017).

These releases, combined with their reputation as a notoriously impressive live act, drew the attention of fans worldwide and provided CARNATION with the opportunity to perform at several European festivals and saw the band touring alongside PESTILENCE during their special Brazilian tour in April 2018. After signing with Season of Mist in 2018, CARNATION welcomed new and loyal audiences to death’s domain and invited them to witness them rise to their throne!

CARNATION rage on in 2019 with more spectacular live shows at 70.000 Tons of Metal, Alcatraz (BE) and Damnation Festival (UK), as part of their touring rampage throughout Japan and Europe (with PUNGENT STENCH and DESERTED FEAR), before entering the studio for the recordings of a brand new album. The mastering for the new offering was done by the mighty Jens Bogren (SEPULTURA, ENSLAVED, ARCH ENEMY) at the Fascination Street Studios in Örebro (SE).

With ‘Where Death Lies’ a new chapter of abhorrence now begins and opens up a hellish path to resurrection, reincarnation, and immortality. You wanted death? CARNATION is here with a superior appearance performing new rituals in service of ancient deities. All hail the new death metal overlords!

SAINT ASONIA SHARE "BETTER LATE THAN NEVER"

Hard rock juggernaut Saint Asonia, featuring former Three Days Grace frontman Adam Gontier and Staind guitarist/founding member Mike Mushok, have shared the new song "Better Late Than Never" from their upcoming Introvert EP. The EP arrives on July 1 via Spinefarm. Pre-order it here.

The new track finds frontman Gontier laying his cards face-up on the table. Listen below.

"This is a song I wrote about growth," says Gontier. "I've battled drug and alcohol addiction for years and years. I've been in and out of rehab, trying to change and trying to become a better person. I finally hit a point in my life back in 2017, where I was just done. All of that back and forth with addiction just took its toll. I was tired — and motivated. I got clean and have stayed that way since. It took a long time to become the person I wanted to be. As they say, better late than never..."

The EP also features the band's well-received cover of The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights," which arrived last year. Additionally, the single "Above It All" is currently ascending the rock radio charts.

The quartet — rounded out by Cale Gontier [bass] and Cody Watkins [drums]— have perfected a fusion of gut-punching grooves, intricate fretwork, airtight songwriting, and soaring choruses. For as much as Gontier and Mushok had achieved in multiplatinum rock acts Three Days Grace and Staind, respectively, the musicians also architected the framework for a singular legacy together in Saint Asonia. 2015's self-titled Saint Asonia kicked open the door as Loudwire crowned them "Best New Artist" at the Loudwire Music Awards. The 2019 follow-up, Flawed Design, only ingratiated a growing fan base. Lead single "The Hunted," featuring Sully Erna of Godsmack, racked up 13 million Spotify streams, bringing their cumulative streams near the 100 million mark. New Noise awarded it 4.5-out-of-5 stars and urged, "Any fan of hard rock (whether they've listened in recently or not) should give Saint Asonia a spin." Meanwhile, Loudwire named it among "The 50 Best Rock Albums of the Year." Along the way, they hit the road with the likes of Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Alter Bridge, and Mötley Crüe.

ATREYU SHARE "BAPTIZE" REMIX BY SULLIVAN KING

So-Cal rock warriors Atreyu have partnered with Sullivan King to remix their smash single "Baptize," which is the title track off their latest album.

Check out the remix, on which Sullivan King truly put his own unique spin, here.

"When it comes to remixes, we're always aiming for someone to truly recreate the song," the band explains. "Sullivan King has such an energy to his music and his personal vibe. He was the perfect fit. This is a whole new 'Baptize.'"

It was a fitting collaboration, since Sullivan King is a producer, guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter who fuses dubstep and rock, creating his own space in the electronic and alternative scenes. Sullivan King’s unique live show finds the artist shredding on guitar, singing, DJing, and jumping into the pit. He has previously worked with Excision, Aaron Gillespie (Underoath), Papa Roach, Jason Aalon (Fever 333), Ice Nine Kills, Kayzo, and more.

Atreyu are currently on tour with Nothing More. All remaining dates are below.

SATOR Release New Single "Get Out Of My Way"

New Album 'Return of The Barbie-Q-Killers' Out July 29

The second single from Sator’s long-awaited new album Return of The Barbie-Q-Killersis here!

Chips Kiesbye from the band comments:

"['Get Out Of My Way'] was written by John Hodgson and originally performed by UK punk legends Blitzkrieg Bop. It was never recorded in a studio by the band, so we did it. It was one of the first tracks we recorded for The Return of The Barbie-Q-Killers album, and it really sums up the whole idea of the album. To find songs that should have been hits and give them the ”Sator treatment”. Maybe they will be hits now?

In 1994, Sator released the cover album 'Barbie-Q-Killers', where the band made their own versions of "obscure" punk songs! The album quickly became a favorite among the band's fans and the desire/demand for a sequel has haunted them ever since. After 20 years of waiting, it's finally here. Sator - Return of The Barbie-Q-Killers!

LATVIA'S BLOODY HEELS NEW ALBUM "ROTTEN ROMANCE" OUT NOW

Latvian hard rockers Bloody Heels have released their latest studio album, "Rotten Romance" today!

Additionally the band has dropped a video for the song 'Distant Memory.' Watch it below.

Order/Stream "Rotten Romance" HEREhttps://orcd.co/rottenromance

Check out videos from the album below:

'The Velvet' https://youtu.be/Kv2oYrqf8gg

“Rotten Romance”, their third album overall, follows their Frontiers debut, "Ignite The Sky" (2020). While the band still shows nods to the great ‘80s hard rock scene in their sound, the new album presents a stylistic leap from the band that is delightfully unexpected and welcome. Not content to be stagnant in their musical approach, Bloody Heels have pushed their sound forward, proving that innovation within the confines of a genre is always possible when the will to push through barriers exists.
