Driven by Max Cavalera's unrelenting energy, unmistakable growl, and instantly recognizable riffage, the earthy tones and motivational rhythmic bounce of Soulfly maintain a gritty spiritual heart while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in metal. Nowhere is that more apparent than on the four triumphant, redemptive, and crucial eclectic offerings presented in this brand new box set, celebrating the first six years of the band career.

Soulfly (1998) was a riotously heavy escalation of the innovation established on Max's final album with Sepultura, launching a brand-new era. Primitive (2000) and 3 (2002) stomp with tribal groove; Prophecy (2004) is as unsettling but evocative as the tombs of the martyrs across Europe. Max introduced metalheads to the berimbau. He popularized varieties of camouflage and brought football chants to metal shows, while attacking his guitar on the bridge and unleashing classic after classic with Sepultura, Nailbomb, Soulfly, and Cavalera Conspiracy. His music is brutal yet unapologetically transcendent punk-infused extremity. To commune with the burning muse of metal's shamanistic tribal leader is to envelop oneself inside a post-modern sonic sweat lodge. Brutal riffs, trippy esoteric ritual, unrelenting percussion, primal screams; no matter what Cavalera hammers out on his four-string guitar, it always sets souls free.

No one doubts Max Cavalera's commitment to the subculture cause. He sold millions of albums yet walks freely amongst the crustiest of gutter punks with unquestionable credibility. He is one part renegade spiritual guide to the metal community, stretching from the roughest slums of South America to the coldest confines of Siberia, and all-parts old-school headbanger. Max is also a growling savage, cultural revolutionary, unpretentious innovator, American and Brazilian football fanatic, caffeinated soda guzzler, lyrical terrorizer, devoted husband, family man, riff-master, black metal loving, God-fearing, beloved spirit animal to all metal fans.

‘The Soul Remains Insane’ is a deluxe collection of the first four studio albums by Soulfly and also contains a bonus album of singles, b-sides, rare cuts and a couple of previously unreleased songs. Also included is a book telling the story of these seminal records through new interviews with Max Cavalera which contains many previously unseen photos from the era. The box set will be available as a 5 album, 8LP vinyl box and 5CD box.
The Soul Remains Insane – The Studio Albums 1998 To 2004 contains :

  • Soulfly

  • Primitive

  • 3

  • Prophecy

  • Soulfire (Bonus LP)

Gilbert O’SullivanOne of the most revered singer-songwriters of his generation announces details of his new album: Driven

Produced by Andy Wright (Simply Red, Massive Attack, Simple Minds) and recorded with a live band at the legendary RAK studios,
featuring guests KT Tunstall and Mick Hucknall.

Watch the video to the first single, ‘Take Love’ – a duet with KT Tunstall: below.

“Alone Again (Naturally) and Nothing Rhymed are two of my favourite songs.
Great lyrics, great tunes.” – Paul Weller

“The ever brilliant…” – Tim Burgess (The Charlatans / Listening Party)

“Thank YOU for your beautiful music.” – Kim Wilde

“I am a massive fan.” – Chris Difford (Squeeze)

“If we’ve got to live by the charts alone, then let’s have Gilbert O’Sullivan in them.” – John Peel

“Songs [that] are artfully constructed, lyrically original with a fine sense of filigree detail.”
- Lenny Kaye

Today BMG release Take Love, the first single to be taken from Gilbert O’Sullivan’s twentieth studio album, Driven, out July 22nd. Take Love finds Gilbert and guest vocalist, Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall trading lines over a sizzlingly energetic R&B arrangement.

Incredibly, fifty years have elapsed since Gilbert O’Sullivan found himself celebrating a six-week run at the top of the U.S. Billboard Chart with Alone Again Naturally – the song which prompted America to commence an improbable love affair with this Irish-born, yet most British of singer-songwriters. The song has been covered live by artists including Neil Diamond, Nina Simone, Pet Shop Boys and Elton John. It’s perhaps no surprise that ensuing generations of acclaimed artists – including Paul Weller, Squeeze and The Lemon Twigs – proudly count themselves as Gilbert O’Sullivan fans. Other notable admirers include Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), who personally invited him to host two of his legendary Twitter Listening Parties.

Gilbert’s new album Driven follows his acclaimed Ethan Johns-produced, self-titled 2018 album which was awarded 4-stars in MOJO magazine. The thirteen songs that comprise Driven reveal a songwriter whose ability to sniff out hitherto undiscovered sources of low-hanging melodic fruit is keener than ever. Produced by Andy Wright and recorded with a live band at the legendary RAK studios, the unexpected velocity at which the songs came together bears testament to the instant chemistry generated between O’Sullivan, Wright and a house band featuring Pat Murdoch (Beyonce, Simply Red, Chrissie Hynde), Rich Milner (Morcheeba, James Morrison) and Geoff Holdroyde (Take That, Big Linda).

This chemistry is present on album opener Love Casualty which features something close to JJ Cale in the interplay between Gilbert and Pat Murdoch’s supple guitar ornamentations. In addition to Gilbert’s duet with KT Tunstall, the album features another guest turn from big fan and Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall. Mick brings his sublime timbre to Let Bygones Be Bygones, a song which offers a timely corrective to the increasingly polarised thinking that characterises discourse in a social media age.

Gilbert’s extraordinary ability for exploring the human condition is exemplified on Hey Man, which offers snapshots of decisive moments in the lives of four separate characters, who all have in common that things may never be the same again beyond these frozen moments in time.

On With Body and Mind, we’re presented an adhesively catchy audit of blessings which takes the form of an internal dialogue about its protagonist’s lifetime lover. More topical issues are explored in You and Me Babe, where Gilbert juxtaposes the things that make our lives meaningful against the turbulence of the world at large, with a subtle reference to climate change. Whilst, framed by an exquisitely tender string arrangement, If Only Love Had Ears is, by any metric, one of the most beautiful songs to bear O’Sullivan’s name.

Reflective songs come in the form of Let Me Know – and another instantly memorable standout on Driven – Blue Anchor Bay. The former recalls the first decade of Gilbert’s career, in which he resisted serious relationships for fear that it might have an effect on his songwriting. The latter, finds him reflecting upon simpler times, retreating to his teenage years in Swindon and the regular school trips which would see him and his friends head out to the Somerset beach immortalised in the song’s title. The result is the sort of sepia jazz standard one might sooner expect to find on an album by Leon Redbone or Mose Allison.

At its core, Driven is an album that offers a nuanced portrait man reaffirming his own values and sense of self in an increasingly chaotic world. Never a conventional songwriter, he perhaps conforms to the description of a British chansonnier, praised by none other than Lenny Kaye – rock scholar and guitarist with the Patti Smith Group – for “songs [that] are artfully constructed, lyrically original with a fine sense of filigree detail.” As with Paul McCartney and the young Harry Nilsson – two songwriters for whom he retains a huge fondness – Gilbert O’Sullivan’s reach extends beyond the parameters of rock’n’roll.
Driven will be available on:

Black LP

Tape Cassette (D2C only)
Digital: SD, HD, UHD and immersive formats (Dolby Atmos and Sony 360)

Ville Valo to Release New Single "Loveletting" + Announces Debut Solo Album "Neon Noir"

Finnish Love Metal pioneer, Ville Valo, will release a new single, "Loveletting," on April 8 under the VV banner. "Loveletting" is taken from VV's forthcoming debut album Neon Noir.

He explains, "As fun as the funeral rites for HIM were, it took me more than a few moons to lick my wounds in the shadow of the Heartagram and come up with an excuse to strum and hum again. Eventually, I decided to put a leash on my beloved black dog and we started howling together instead of barking at each other. That's how 'Loveletting' was born."

"Loveletting" will be made available across all digital platforms from midnight (local time) tonight.

The official video clip out now.

VV's debut album Neon Noir is scheduled for release in early 2023; belonging to the same forlorn world of woe and whimsy once conceived and governed by Valo in HIM, VV arrives with additional nuanced notes of a fine aged Cabernet.

Valo adds, "Artistically speaking, the main difference between HIM and VV is the extra line in the Heartagram, but what an exquisite line it is! It's the Mamas and the Papas dressed up as Metallica on their way to a Halloween bash at the Studio 54, and now who wouldn't want to witness that?"

Further details around Neon Noir will be released in due course. In the meantime, fans are invited to any number of VV's headline tour dates taking place next year across Europe, the UK, and North America. Naturally starting in Helsinki, Finland, the 2023 extensive run reaches the UK in March, before heading to America come April.

U.S. tickets will be available for purchase from Friday, April 15 at 10am local time.

ABOUT VILLE VALO:

In the annals of 21st century alternative rock history, there are few artists who cast a longer or more peculiar shadow than Finnish Love Metal pioneer Ville Valo. After all, his band HIM was easily among the most iconic and idiosyncratic groups of the millennium. Zealously revered, gleefully reviled, but impossible to ignore, their music left an indelible mark on a worldwide legion of fans. The scarlet letters stood for His Infernal Majesty. Their founder stood for something delightedly out of step with the status quo. "We only hoped to temporarily redirect hard rock's blood flow from the nether regions towards the heart," reminisces Ville Valo, the singer, songwriter and primus motor of HIM. Judging by the monolithic presence of the Heartagram in any account of music this side of the millennium it’s apparent that he succeeded. Inspired by everyone from Poe to Bukowski, and tinged by a penchant for perfumed Sabbathian gloom, Valo's creative lovechild would produce eight era-defining studio releases and over 10 million record sales, not forgetting a Grammy nomination, countless magazine covers, critical acclaim, and the veneration of a generation. Thus it came as no surprise that the news of a farewell tour in 2017 was greeted with shock and disbelief among devotees and endless speculation as to what or who was to take up the velvet mantle.

KALEO Return to Music City: Back-to-Back Nights at Ryman Auditorium and The Grand Ole Opry

GRAMMY-Nominated Icelandic Rock Band Make Opry Debut
After Performing to a Sold-Out Mother Church Crowd

Fight Or Flight Tour Continues Tonight in St. Louis, Mo. at The Pageant; Tickets for All Dates Available at
OfficialKALEO.com

Following a series of sold-out shows on the North American leg of their Fight Or Flight Tour, GRAMMY-nominated Elektra/Atlantic band KALEO make their triumphant return to Nashville – where much of their 2021 sophomore release Surface Sounds was recorded – with back-to-back performances at two of Music City’s staples: Ryman Auditorium and The Grand Ole Opry.

With vast influences including rock, blues and folk at the core, KALEO stepped into the circle at the Opry, already creating history by being the first Icelandic artists to take the stage, while making their Opry debut with a stripped-back, slowed-tempo version of their GRAMMY-nominated song “No Good,” featuring Þorleifur Gaukur Davíðsson (Thor) with a spell-binding harmonica solo.

Taking a moment to step back and look out from the stage, front man JJ Julius Son addressed the crowd, sharing “It’s an honor to be here, thank you for having us.

“Actually, yesterday, a little boy came up to me and asked if I was a real cowboy. And I said, ‘No, I’m from Iceland,’” Julius Son said with a smile, drawing a laugh from the audience. “Being the first Icelandic cowboys here is an honor. And I felt it was fitting to premiere this song.”

Julius Son then played the opening chords to “Lonely Cowboy,” marking the track’s world premiere before ending their set with the two-time RIAA-Platinum certified “Way Down We Go.”

Known for their electrifying live performances, KALEO took the stage at Ryman Auditorium Monday night, performing to a sold-out crowd where even industry insiders could not purchase a ticket day-of-show.

KALEO opened their set with “Break My Baby,” one of two lead singles from Surface Sounds, which made an immediate impact at Triple A radio as the No. 1 most-added song after its first week, later climbing to the Top 6.

The band immediately followed with “Alter Ego,” the perfect song to showcase Julius Son’s raspy vocal turned falsetto, effectively gearing up the crowd for the kind of showmanship and musical prowess the band would continue to reveal throughout the night.

Preferring to let the music do the talking, Julius Son addressed the crowd after the third song: “This is the best place for a musician to be. Thank you so much for having us,” before sliding into the balladry of the only song they perform in their native tongue: “Vor í Vaglaskógi” from RIAA Gold-certified major label debut A/B.

Backlit with a golden luminescence, the crowd flew into cheers as Julius Son began whistling the tune to “Automobile” before he began strumming the acoustic intro followed by “Backbone,” with atmospheric background vocals provided by Jessica Jolia and April Rucker on full display before building into its pleading chorus, “Where’s your backbone, brother?”

Turning things back up to 10, the room erupted with “Hey Gringo,” (easily one of the grooviest songs of the night, mixing soul, blues and even a hint of disco in their live arrangement, bringing fans to their feet to dance along in the pews) followed by “Broken Bones,” with pared-back percussion featuring only kickdrum and tambourine before Thor stepped to the front of the stage to deliver a powerhouse harmonica solo.

Following A/B’s rocking “Hot Blood,” drummer David Antonsson plowed through an extensive drum solo, before Julius Son reappeared behind a piano to perform Surface Sounds opener “Brother Run Fast,” a satisfying ballad with a building sense of urgency and immediately launching into “I Walk on Water,” praised earlier this tour by The Spokesman-Review that it “brings to mind the blue-eyed soul of Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers, but offers listeners a triumphant, uplifting conclusion.”

Speaking with contempt to the societal and cultural issues and expectations surrounding women in the public eye, KALEO gave a cathartic performance of “Skinny,” a dynamic and emphatic outcry, with Julius Son underlining the lyrics of the chorus:

You’ve got to stay skinny, don’t you, girl?
You’ve got to stay pretty while you can
You’ve got to stay hungry for the fans
Or they’ll try to burn you all out

Nearing the end of their set, the crowd roared and climbed to their feet as they heard the opening lines to No. 1 hit “Way Down We Go,” which was used in over two dozen television shows from “Grey’s Anatomy” to “Riverdale,” and landing at the top of The Hollywood Reporter’s TV Songs chart.

The sold-out crowd continued their applause, encouraging KALEO to return for one final song, the GRAMMY-nominated “No Good,” its opening riff flooding the Ryman with their signature fast-paced blues-rock that’s gained the Icelandic band notoriety across the globe, proving them to be a worldwide phenomenon.

KALEO’s Fight Or Flight Tour continues tonight, April 6 at The Pageant in St. Louis, with nearly 30 more stops across North America, including a sold-out return to iconic Red Rocks, before embarking on the European leg this summer. Tickets are available for all dates at OfficialKALEO.com.

Cleveland, Ohio industrial/electronic rock band GHOSTATIC has released a brand new single "Still Haunt My Dreams" to all major platforms via Imagen Records. The band released the official music video for it today!

"After releasing my debut EP on Imagine Records, which was more electronic and bass heavy, I decided to stick to my roots and lean more on the heavy rock/metal style that grabbed my ears when I was an angsty teen. 'Still Haunt My Dreams' is a hit-you-in-the-face roller coaster, conveying the fear, damage, and emotional drain of never being able to escape your past," says Adamo Fiscella, the band's vocalist/guitarist.

From hobby to obsession, raw to mega production, here and the afterlife, Ghostatic is an ominous, all-encompassing presentation of sounds and experiences written, performed, and produced by Adamo Fiscella.

The band released the official music video for "The New Revelation" late last year. The video can be seen here: https://youtu.be/q-6QMosplM4

About SUMO CYCO and Initiation:

Over the course of the past several years, Ontario, Canada’s SUMO CYCO featuring teen pop-superstar/songwriter turned rock goddess Skye “Sever” Sweetnam as well as producer/guitarist Matt “MD13” Drake and bassist Oscar Anesetti – have proven themselves as one of the hardest working DIY-to-overnight sensation stories in heavy music, boasting an undeniable following of fans with their impressive mixture of metal, pop and everything in between. Even after garnering early viral acclaim and signing to Napalm Records in 2020, the band's seasoned DIY attitude and self-starting viral savvy continues to propel their creativity at every step, converting audiences all around to their infectious world of sound!

Initiation invites a mass of new followers into SUMO CYCO's warped, dystopian-like world of “Cyco City”! As with their prior full-length albums Lost In Cyco City (2014) and Opus Mar (2017), and countless singles, Initiation is based in the imaginative conceptual location of the same name. Last fall, SUMO CYCO took the album a step further and dropped the official Digital Deluxe Edition of Initiation, featuring peppy new single "Sun Eater", plus additional limited edition tracks "New Jive", "We Are The Nation" and "Awakened".

KENNY CHESNEY ADDS NEW SONGS, MORE MUSIC
Here And Now 2022 Tour Rehearsals Are Full Tilt + Rockin’
“This band is like something I’ve never had. Can’t wait for people to hear them!”

After all of the scheduling, rescheduling, routing, debating, waiting and wanting to make sure No Shoes Nation could come together in the spirit that defines them, Kenny Chesney has been merging all the layers of his Here And Now 2022 Tour together in an industrial complex outside of Nashville for the last week. With his usual eye to technological advancements a given, what’s really inspiring the eight-time Entertainer of the Year is the power of this year’s band.

“It’s leaner, but more muscular,” he says. “There’s a real sense of power when they play, engagement in the way they listen to each other – and really push how we deliver these songs. It’s crazy. It’s always been a rocking band. But this year, this group of people, the chemistry and energy they have together, I was shocked to see how much more these songs could be; every day, it’s another surprise, and it’s awesome.”

With some classics coming off the set list, Chesney’s worked up several songs to possibly rotate in. Having not been on the road since releasing Here And Now in early 2020, the East Tennessee songwriter/superstar is looking forward to playing some of those songs and introducing them to No Shoes Nation.

“We’ve worked up a pretty cool version of ‘Knowing You’,” he offers. “As much as this show is built on high energy, rock hard, have fun vibes, there’s a feeling to ‘Knowing You’ that’s going to make every football stadium in America feel like that place you go with your most special memories, wherever that is.

“It means ‘You And Tequila’ and ‘Wild Child’ may not be in the stadiums this year. But I think No Shoes Nation is going to respond to this the same way they did ‘Anything But Mine.’”

Weighing in at 26 songs, with several options waiting in the wings, the man the Wall Street Journal called “The King of the Road” has a created the perfect playlist for making the most of a summer night. Hits from the last several years, a few classics and a couple new ones, with every single song about lifting the fans up, empowering them to love life and celebrate their lives right where they are in the moment.

“I don’t think I’ve ever thought about what these songs taken as a whole are made of,” Chesney explains. “But playing to them with this new band, I realized: the songs I’ve always gravitated to are the ones about living life the way you want to, loving the experiences you have and the people you meet along the way. Maybe you can’t set out with that as a mission statement, but if you’re making music true to your own soul and life, I now realize you truly can show people who you are in the music.

“Maybe that’s why No Shoes Nation is unlike any other group of fans I’ve ever encountered. They share that same compass, too. So, when they hear these songs, they recognize a real truth in them, too.

“And it’s very much the music. Harmoni’s bass playing is so solid and melodic, but when you put it with Nick Buda’s drums, it’s just this wave that sweeps you up and takes you places. It’s given the guitarists so much room to really go places, too. And you can feel it from almost the first note. I can’t wait to get to Tampa and let everybody hear what I’m hearing right now.”

As April 23 at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium draws near, the Here And Now 2022 Tour presented by Blue Chair Bay Rum and fueled by MARATHON is gearing up for a summer of stadiums, amphitheaters and a whole lot of music. With reigning Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist Carly Pearce, five-time ACM and four-time CMA Group of the Year Old Dominion and four-time GRAMMY Country Duo/Group Performance winners Dan + Shay, the Here And Now 2022 Tour promises to be what summer memories are made of.

SOCIETY 1 Releases Official Music Video for New Single, "I Never Saw You”! DV "Dirt" Karloff Documentary

LA Based Industrial Metal band SOCIETY 1 has released the official music video for their new single, "I Never Saw You." Written by Matt Zane, "I Never Saw You" is off of the band's final album with the late bassist, Black Level Six, out NOW

"The album is in memory of DV 'Dirt' Karloff. It is the last album we wrote and recorded together before his passing. The corresponding movie is entitled The Altered Noise. The album Black Level Six is the official movie soundtrack, which includes interviews with Dave NavarroRaymond HerreraMatt Zaneand more.

Black Level Six is an experimental album. The idea was to ask the question, "What would a Society 1 album sound like if we recorded it in 1994 in a similar way that Nirvana recorded In Utero?" We heard they recorded the album in 6 days with Steve Albini and, of course, this was before Pro Tools. So some rules were set up for us such as 'no vocal tune' and 'no copying and pasting vocals.'

The music was recorded in 4 days and guitar solos performed by Justin Manning were an additional day. Mixing took 5 days and was done by punk legend Greg Hetson of The Circle Jerks and Bad Religion." - MATT ZANE

The Matt Zane directed The Altered Noise follows Karloff through various phases of his career and also touches upon his incredibly successful profession as a tattoo artist that saw him inking up celebrities such as Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, and Steve-O.

"His life really was interesting, regardless if you're a fan or not. He was
this young guy from the cornfields of Indiana that came out to Hollywood and
within eight months he's touring the world and that was just the
beginning of the story," says Zane.

ORIGIN's Paul Ryan comments, "Chaosmos... 25 years in the making. I'm personally super excited to present this album to our fanbase and I hope that they are excited to experience it as well! I personally tried to combine elements of every era stylistically of each album in this release and with the continuation of the same lineup for the last few albums I hope our fan base connects to the music that we have created! Over the years, so many bands have used and imitated our musical approach but the most important elements of Origin's music are songwriting, composition, and structure dynamics, not just technicality and flare - and that can never be replicated. Thank you for taking the time to listen to our newest album to date .... Chaosmos."

ORIGIN re-tapped Kansas City-based studio guru Rob Rebeck (UNMERCIFUL, VÄNLADE) to engineer, produce and mix Chaosmos. The production team holed up in GFM Recording Studios in Blue Springs, Missouri, and Chapter 2 Recording in Lenexa, Kansas, over 14 days. Robeck worked the mix over four days, while Colin Maarten at Menegroth, The Thousand Caves in Queens, New York, mastered Chaosmos in two. The cover artwork was created by Santiago Jaramillo, Triple Seis Design..

Chaosmos will be available in the following formats from Nuclear Blast:

"The founding fathers of American goth rock, Christian Death took a relentlessly confrontational stand against organized religion and conventional morality, with an appetite for provocation that made Marilyn Manson look like Stryper. Regardless of who was leading or performing in the group, Christian Death set themselves up to shock, both in their cover art and their lyrics, which wallowed in blasphemy, morbidity, drug use, and sexual perversity. Their self-consciously controversial tactics set them apart from the British goth scene, having more to do with L.A. punk and heavy metal, and thus the band dubbed its sound ‘death rock’ instead; however, their sensibility was ultimately similar enough that the ‘goth’ designation stuck in the end. Their music also relied on slow, doomy, effects-laden guitar riffs and ambient horror-soundtrack synths, and their theatrical performances were strongly influenced by British glam rockers like David Bowie and Roxy Music, as well as industrial provocateurs Throbbing Gristle. The latter was especially true of the band's first incarnation, led by vocalist and founder Rozz Williams, - When Williams left in 1985, guitarist Valor Kand took over leadership and sent the group in a more intellectual, political, and metal-oriented direction. A subsequent dispute over ownership of the Christian Death name lead many of their fans to take sides. Christian Death had an enormous influence on the American goth scene, shaping the sensibility of countless goth, metal, and even industrial acts that followed. Sadly, the Kand-Williams dispute ended in tragedy in 1998, when a heroin-addicted Williams took his own life.” ~ Steve Hue VH1, ROLLING STONE

There has been a ridiculously huge revolving door of membership in the Los Angeles band known as Christian Death. In the beginning, not long after the local California release of the first album, ‘Only Theatre of Pain,’ the band irrevocably and formally broke up. This left Rozz Williams at home with his overtly religious parents in Pomona, CA to contemplate his insufferable boredom, his only relief being found on the pages of his lyrics. After being invited to the record release party for Pompeii 99, a band already enjoying success in L.A., Rozz met band leader, singer and guitarist Valor Kand. Before long they were inseparable friends and Rozz was invited to join Pompeii 99. Together as Pompeii 99, while rehearsing for a planned European tour, the head of a French record label that Valor had been negotiating with, proposed the notion of renaming his band Christian Death. Neither Valor nor Rozz wanted to entertain this, however, the incentives proposed by the label eventually prevailed and thus Pompeii 99 was reborn as Christian Death. The second Christian Death album, ‘Catastrophe Ballet,’ which resulted from this deal, was recorded in Wales (UK) (a place where several future Christian Death albums were also to be born). A month before the release of Catastrophe Ballet, the French label head released a compilation which he called ‘Deathwish,’ comprised of previously recorded, unreleased outtakes and single tracks he had licensed.

Recording the second album was followed by the very first Christian Death tour which began in Paris and on to most European countries. The emotional stress of this first tour was hard on Rozz causing him to return to Los Angeles months before the other members, who remained in Europe. Upon Valor’s return to Los Angeles, work began immediately on the third album, ‘Ashes.’ Meanwhile, the release of a live album called ‘The Decomposition of Violets’ recorded in Hollywood was also released.

After the release of ‘Ashes,’ plans were underway for the second European tour when Rozz, just weeks before the first scheduled date in Italy, announced his plans to quit the band. With no intention of cancelling the tour, Valor returned to lead vocals, the bass player became the guitarist, and the guitar tech became the bass player; the tour proceeded as planned, but without Rozz.

Now fronted by Valor, the band relocated from California and settled in London, which they used as a base to tour Europe relentlessly in the midst of controversy, riots, bomb threats and protests by extremist Christian groups. Many concerts were canceled as a result of direct pressure by influential religious organizations.

From England, the band release nine more studio albums and four live albums in the territories of England, Germany, Italy, France, Japan and USA, with each release in each territory having different artwork, configurations and bonus tracks. Among these releases was the critically acclaimed album ‘Sex and Drugs and Jesus Christ,’ which depicted a controversial image of Jesus shooting heroin. The single ‘Church Of No Return,” which went to No.12 in the UK charts and ultimately landed the band numerous spots on MTV, VH1, Super Channel, BBC and countless other Euro television and radio shows. Meanwhile in the USA, Christian organizations began burning their albums in public and on Christian Television networks.

In 1994, Valor relocated Christian Death back to the USA, with the lineup centering around himself and Maitri on bass and vocals. “He returned with 1994's ‘Sexy Death God,’ which many longtime fans greeted as his best and tightest effort in quite some time.”~ Steve Hue VH1

Once again based in the USA, for the first time, it was possible to do full North American tours, of which there were many, which also included Mexico where the live album “Amen” was recoded at the first ever show in Mexico City for Century Media. Later to be followed by the studio album: ‘Pornographic Messiah,’ which was also recorded in Mexico, then mixed in Holland.

“In 2000, they added drummer Will "Was" Sarginson (ex-Cradle of Filth and Blood Divine) and toured Europe alongside Britain's Cradle of Filth, one of the more popular black metal bands of their time. The two groups got along well enough for several Cradle members to guest on Christian Death's 2001 album ‘Born Again Anti Christian,’ helping it become one of the most metallic records in their catalog.

“The following year, vocalist and bassist Maitri, by then the second most continuous member of Christian Death, issued her black metal-influenced solo album, ‘Lover of Sin’ (confusingly labeled on the cover as ‘Christian Death Presents...’). In 2003, Cradle of Filth guitarist Gian Pyres officially joined Christian Death for their European tour.” ~ Steve Hue, VH1

In response to the post 9/11 period, the album ‘American Inquisition,’ was recorded and released with Season of Mist. The tours for this album included new territories for the band: Brazil, Chile, Peru, Ecuador. Australia, and New Zealand. Around this time, Christian Death released multitrack versions of several songs for the “Rock Band” video game series as well at that time bootleg figurines of both Rozz and Valor began to appear.

In 2012, Maitri released the second Lover of Sin album, ‘Horny Beast,’ which featured members of Nile, Morbid Angel and other popular death metal bands.

The following year, the band kicked off a full tour of The Americas that extended into 2014, with a full back catalogue digital global release. The year culminated with the band’s performance at Hellfest Open Air Festival, in which they supported Kiss, Rob Zombie, and Limp Bizkit.

With the 2015 release of 'The Root of All Evilution,’ the band hit the roas again that autumn in Europe, which continued into North America in 2016. The band again returned to Europe and drew the final curtain in Israel.

The song “Between youth” was re-released in 2017 and featured in the Vice TV series on HBO, ‘Balls Deep.’ Later, in Autumn 2017, Christian Death completed the longest North America Tour to date. The tour package included Lords of Acid, Combichrist, En Esch, and Night Club.

From 2018 onward, the band continued to dominate the world and perform throughout Europe and the United States, which included and appearance at the Cloak and Dagger festival in Los Angeles, CA as well as pulling off a mini-tour in 2021 despite a global pandemic. That same year, the band formed their union with Season of Mist and started to roll out the vinyl and CD reissues of all 16 studio albums, which included all new special editions and certain bonus features.

Now, the band is gearing up to release a brand new offering via Season of Mist, ‘Evil Becomes Rule.’ With the release of their 17th studio album, CHRISTIAN DEATH shows no signs of faltering or slowing down. The godfathers of death rock have simultaneously perfected and redefined their signature sound, which has served as a core inspiration for many bands of both the past and present, such as DANZIG, CELTIC FROST, and TYPE O NEGATIVE, to name just a few. ‘Evil Becomes Rule’ isn’t merely a musical endeavor, but an artistic expression that blends elements of gothic rock, post-punk, and dark pop, cultivating a poetic aesthetic that is certain to continue to influence the next wave of gothic rock.

Ahead of the release of her self-produced project, High, arriving this Friday, April 8, Monument Records’ powerhouse vocalist Caitlyn Smith is second-most added at Country radio this week with 50 first week adds for the lead single celebrated by Billboard for its “ebullient” energy, “Downtown Baby.”

“Thank you Country radio! I can’t believe ‘Downtown Baby’ is finally hitting the airwaves,” exclaims Smith. “I am blown away by the support and am so excited to watch this song grow!”

Produced by Smith and written alongside Gordie Sampson, Thomas Tawgs Salter and Simon Wilcox, the sonically jovial song spotlights both the songwriting and vocal prowess of Smith, whom Billboard goes on to note is “one of Nashville’s most versatile creatives.”

A recent nominee for ACM New Female Artist of the Year, Smith will perform the project’s title-track, “High,” on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” tomorrow, Wednesday, April 6 at 12:35 a.m. ET / 11:35 p.m. CT. MusicRow declares that the song, which originally appeared on Miley Cyrus’ Plastic Hearts, “confirms the widely admired songwriter’s status as a first-rate record maker” while The Boot concludes that the song which was released by Smith herself in January is “as rich as it is vulnerable.”

The Minnesota-native will also perform “High” on the 2022 CMT Awards, airing live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT on April 11 and available to stream on-demand via Parmount+. Smith is a nominee at Monday’s Awards ceremony for the emotive music video accompanying her previous single, “I Can’t” featuring Platinum-selling band Old Dominion, in the CMT Breakthrough Video of the Year category.

The video, which premiered last April and starred both Smith and Old Dominion, portrays the desperate conditions many live music venues have faced throughout the pandemic. Using music for good, the video fostered financial aid in real time for beloved venues by encouraging viewers to support the National Independent Venue Association by donating to NIVA’s Emergency Relief Fund.

Smith is returning to such beloved venues with her 13-city headlining High & Low Tour 2022, which kicked off in her hometown of Minneapolis, Minn. last Friday, April 1 and follows several high-profile performances from the Pollstar “Hotstar” who has played stadiums with George Strait, arenas with Reba, theaters with Little Big Townand amphitheaters with Old Dominion, as well as C2C in London last month. LENNE Releases New EP 'A Sympathetic Antipathy' via Imagen Records on April 8, 2022!

https://ffm.to/qb95ekb

LENNE will release their debut EP A Sympathetic Antipathy via Imagen Records on April 8, 2022.

A Sympathetic Antipathy is the culmination of a few years of musical collaboration. The project was produced & co-written by Morgan Rose along with Leonard Cerzosie Jr., Corey Lowery, and Jim Taylor. In its various stages of recording, engineering talents include Jose Urquiza, James "Fluff" Harley, and Mike Ferretti. The initial inspiration for the EP was the passing of Lenny's mother after years of battling ALS. Tracks like "Miracle" were written about that struggle. Rose & Cerzosie have a history of writing & recording together and included a remastered version of a song they wrote with The Infinite Staircase in 2013 called "No Amends". Other musicians featured on the EP include Chris Caffrey of Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Justin Taylor of Alborn.

Lenne has plans to play in support of their new EP throughout 2022. The current band line up consists of heavy hitting, Maryland musicians Mike Slaski, Rob Landon, and Stephen Hybdzinski; alongside Evan Crider ,Taylor from PA and Cerzosie from NY.

"This was originally supposed to just be a session in Atlanta with Morgan & Corey. The plan was to do a song in honor of my mom. We ended up having such cool, sometimes borderline morbid chemistry. Funny fact? The original song that started this whole thing didn't even make the EP. We went along this darker, heavier path while still maintaining all the melodies we initially created" says Leonard Cerzosie Jr.

Back in the early 2000's, Leonard Cerzosie Jr. started a band with his brother called The Infinite Staircase that did very well as an independent band. the band worked with artists like Earl Slick from David Bowie's band, Candlebox, Sevendust, and even Zakk Wylde. In 2009, they scored a slot on tour with Black Label Society, Sevendust, and Dope that sealed a lot of friendships they still have to this day.

"In 2010, the love of my life passed away suddenly. Pill overdose. It was a devastating time. She was only 27. Morgan Rose and I wrote and recorded the EP, No Amends that was a dedication to my love" says Leonard Cerzosie Jr.

He continues, "Over the years, I've had my hand in multiple projects. I formed "Le Projet" around 2013 that featured members of Candlebox, Sevendust, and The Infinite Staircase. I also joined the Baltimore band "The Mayan Factor" a few years ago and have toured with them in Mexico City and the states. During all this, my mother was diagnosed with ALS. One day- after performing a friend insisted on introducing me to someone. He was confident we needed to meet. That was the day I met Jim Taylor. We did get along immediately and have since been composing all sorts of music together."

"When my mother passed away, Morgan got very involved with what was going on with me and my dad. He invited us out to his place in Atlanta multiple times. We started recording songs with Corey Lowery that would ultimately become "LeNNe". We spent much time digging deep for the right lyrics and tones. There were multiple artists involved over the course of a few years, but the official line up is me and Jim led by Morgan" he adds.

"Letting You Down" was the first single to be released from the EP. The song features Leonard Cerzosie Jr.Morgan RoseJim Taylor, and Corey Lowery. The video can be seen below.

Darius Rucker Brings 13th Annual "Darius and Friends" to Ryman Auditorium on June 6

13TH ANNUAL “DARIUS AND FRIENDS” BENEFIT CONCERT RETURNS TO NASHVILLE’S RYMAN AUDITORIUM MONDAY, JUNE 6

Tickets On Sale Starting Friday, April 8 via
AXS.com

Multi-Platinum superstar Darius Rucker will return to the historic Ryman Auditorium on Monday, June 6 for his 13th Annual Darius and Friends concert benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. The event, which unofficially kicks off the week of CMA Fest in downtown Nashville and has raised more than $2.5 million to date, will feature an all-star roster of friends to be announced in the coming weeks.

“I can’t wait to be back at the Ryman with all of our friends from St. Jude,” shares the three-time GRAMMY Award winner. “This show is always a highlight of the year for me, because it not only raises funds for a very important cause, but it also allows me to bring together some of my best friends in Nashville for a fun night of incredible music.”

Rucker, who has always prioritized philanthropic work, made a commitment to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital nearly 15 years ago after taking an inspiring tour of the hospital. Through this meaningful experience, Rucker learned how St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Reflecting on his 2008 visit to the hospital to the Tennessean ahead of last year’s show, Rucker noted, “You see these kids who are sick, and they’re so happy to be there, because their caregivers are so loving and giving to them. And then you find out that nobody ever gets a bill. That blew me away. I was just like, ‘We’ll figure out some way to help you guys as much as I can.’”

Now, more than a decade later, that effort has become an annual tradition. Friends performing with Rucker in past years have included Lauren Alaina, Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Brothers Osborne, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Sheryl Crow, John Daly, Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum, Ashley McBryde, A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys, Brad Paisley, Kenny Rogers and Tommy Thayer of KISS, among many others. The lineup for this year’s event will be announced soon.

Tickets to the 13th Annual Darius & Friends benefit concert start at $50 with VIP options up to $150, available via AXS.com. Pre-sale access begins tomorrow, April 6 at 10 a.m. CT, with tickets on sale to the general public this Friday, April 8 at 10 a.m. CT.

The event is made possible with support from generous sponsors AMD, Hendrix Enterprises, CDW, Intel, Fanatics, Hewlett-Packard, CAA and Arrow Electronics.

Thrash Metal Legends DESTRUCTION Reveal Raging New Single “Repent Your Sins”

This Friday, April 8, the world finally gets to celebrate DESTRUCTION’s 40th anniversary with their hard-hitting full-length, Diabolical! On the new single “Repent Your Sins”, the German thrash metal icons sound better than ever, fully displaying their unbeatable craft as the pioneers of thrash metal – never stepping off the gas!

"Furious, vicious, aggressive - a real thrash firework!"

- Metal Hammer

On their 15th studio record, DESTRUCTION brings out heavy artillery full of honest and uncompromising thrash metal, catapulting you straight into the seventh heaven of metallic bliss and causing a massacre of razor-sharp sound no fan of the genre should miss!

DESTRUCTION singer/bassist SCHMIER about the new video:

“The music and the song itself shows the more groovy part of the new record. I love the diminished riff and the way Randy grinds the beat into your head! This will be an awesome LIVE track for sure!“”The lyrics of REPENT are about the history of abuse in the Catholic church! A rather tragic and sad part of human history, that is still covered up by our governments. It seems the laws that count for all of us do not apply for servants of the church. UNREAL INJUSTICE!”

“The video itself tries to show the soul torment of the culprit. To live with your dirty deeds but pray about love and kindness can not be justified and needs to be accused, named, remembered and wiped out!”

Watch the new music video for “Repent your Sins”

Join “Chef Schmier” & “Damir the Brave” in the kitchen for this Cooking Special:

SCHMIER about the Cooking Special and his special Semmelknödel & Goulash recipe:

“Tasty and delicious food is one of my hobbies, so when my label asked me to do a little cooking special, I was into the idea right away! My grandma was half Italian and always said “food is like amore” (love) and it is true, good food can make you a happy man right? We did this VERY traditional Bavarian/German dumpling called ‘Semmelknödel’ (my grandma’s recipe and a hot and spicy Goulash (originally from Hungary) with a DESTRUCTION twist. I hope some of you will try this at home, because it is easy and delicious and it will bring you some German classic into your home… not just German THRASH METAL or beer… hehehe I hope you will enjoy this, we had a blast doing it!”

Delivering the most brutal thrash metal for over 40 years!

After the charging start of opener "Under The Spell", DESTRUCTION shows no mercy on title track "Diabolical", with raging drums, bloodthirsty riffs and hellish vocals that sink deep down into your bones. "No Faith In Humanity" relentlessly rages on with non-stop headbanging action, while DESTRUCTION continues to smash eardrums on "Hope Dies Last" - providing unbeatable brutality with unstoppable speed, destructive verses and screeching voices. "Tormented Soul", on the other hand, is loaded with proper heavy metal and explosive drums. The grand finale of the 47-minute parade of devastation is provided by cover track "City Baby Attacked By Rats", originally by GBH, guaranteeing whiplash by combining rough hardcore punk with brute thrash metal.

DESTRUCTION riffkiller FURIA about the new record:

Diabolical is an album of extremes, everything is more brutal and more technical but at the same time more melodic and to the point. It's a pure and devastating DESTRUCTION album with no gimmicks, full of power and adrenaline. I'm excited for what the future is bringing and can't wait to play the new songs live!”

Diabolical will be available in various formats in different territories, including a digital album and CD (bundled with a t-shirt + an exclusive “Mad Butcher”-bust), 1LP gatefold editions in black, crystal clear, marbled yellow/red!

CLUTCH release new single/video 'Red Alert (Boss Metal Zone)'

Forthright US groove rock masters CLUTCH have released a brand new single and video today, titled 'Red Alert (Boss Metal Zone)'. The track is available digitally from all DSPs here and watch the official video directed by David Brodsky below.

Frontman and lyrical wordsmith Neil Fallon expounds,

"Early in 2021, I learned the Boss Metal Zone pedal schematic was being presented as “proof” that the Covid-19 vaccine had an electronic component to communicate with 5G cellular networks. It was, of course, nonsense. It sounded like a Philip K. Dick premise. I didn’t want to write a song specific to Covid-19 vaccines, so I went with the Philip K. Dick angle (again). “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” came to mind (replicants, in particular, representing what is real and not real, or is there a difference at all?). The video makes no secret that this is an homage to Philip K. Dick and a future where we have distortion coursing through our veins."

Drummer Jean-Paul Gaster adds,

"'Red Alert (Boss Metal Zone)' is one of the faster cuts on our forthcoming album. It kicks in and hits like a freight train. The intensity of the recording reminds me of our live shows. This song cooks and I can’t wait to play it on tour!"

Long time fans of sci-fi icon Philip K. Dick, Clutch have also curated a fun 'inspired by' Sci-Fidelity playlist on Spotify here, to coincide with the release of the single.

Clutch are currently on a 2-leg trek across North America, touring with special guests EyeHateGod and Tiger Cub until April 10th, and then with The Sword and Nate Bergman from April 27th - May 22nd. If you're attending an upcoming date, keep your ears open for the new song, as the band have been dropping it into the set list!

Clutch have an extensive 2022 worldwide touring schedule, including summer festivals, further headline dates, and a return to Europe. For the most up to date list of shows and to buy tickets, please visit https://bnds.us/9eo7yp.

ABOUT CLUTCH

Clutch released their twelfth studio album, Book Of Bad Decisions, through their own Weathermaker Music in 2018. Rolling Stone described the album as “bathed in the grit and liberal fuzz tone that has made their live shows legendary.” The band embarked on a successful co-headlining tour with Dropkick Murphys in 2019, with support from Hatebreed, Amigo The Devil, and Russ Rankin of Good Riddance. Two of the band’s most recent albums, Earth Rocker (2013) and Psychic Warfare (2015), were included in Classic Rock Magazine’s 50 Best Rock Albums of the 2010s.

Stay tuned for more new music from Clutch in 2022.

"End of Existence"

"Chaos Reigns"

ABOUT THE BROWNING + END OF EXISTENCE:

End of Existence was written, performed, recorded, engineered and mixed by The Browning's impresario Jonny McBee. It's 12 tracks of detuned guitars, electronic nuances, and vocal gut punches. McBee has labeled the music "doomy, dystopian, and apocalyptic." He pulls back the curtain a bit about his inspiration sources, saying, "Early on, I knew I was going to write the heaviest Browning body of work there was. I needed a theme to fit the heaviness and darkness of the music though. Since I was really happy in my personal life, it had to have a fictional plot. For me, this was about creating a universe."

The Browning have been inching towards this album and this moment since their inception. The band emerged in 2011 with Burn This World. Following the success of Hypernova [2013] and Isolation [2016], they delivered Geist in 2018. Not only did it rack up over 20 million-plus streams and counting, but it also picked up acclaim from the likes of Guitar World and New Noise Magazine who rated it 5-out-of-5 stars and christened the band a " force to be reckoned with." Along the way, they toured with everyone from Chelsea Grin and We Came As Romans to Fear Factory and Static-X. The global COVID-19 pandemic tabled the band's touring plans so McBee focused on his next creative and personal chapters. He built a tiny house for his wife and newborn daughter and cooked up End of Existence at home. Over the course of the ensuing year, he took advantage of the extra time to perfect it, playing every instrument, and producing. He effectively bottled the band's signature live intensity in the studio and on End of Existence.
