MESSA Release New Single "Rubedo"

Italian Doom metal quartet MESSA have released another new single from their upcoming studio album, 'Close'. The third single off the record, titled "Rubedo", is out today.

Talking about the new song, the band comments:

"'Rubedo' is the song from “Close” that was mostly impacted by Flamenco music.

It’s a track tied with both our previous work and the journey dimension of our new album. The lyrics are about dealing with a sense of guilt. Sometimes we harm the ones we love without realizing it, and all of a sudden we reckon with our faults and wish to heal the person we hurt."

Adding, "Rubedo is a Latin word that translates to ‘redness’. It symbolizes the reunion of opposites and the manifestation of the self in its entirety. The color red has always been connected with hot-blood and sacrifice."

Messa's new album, 'Close', will see a March 11th, 2022 release via Svart Records.

About Messa's new album, 'Close'

'Close' draws us further into Messa’s spellbinding textures and immersive dynamics. Described as “Stevie Nicks fronting Black Sabbath,” singer Sara’s colossal voice omnipotently carries the listener on an emotional rollercoaster ride where the sonic cauldron of Iommi guitars gives way to Arabian Oudh and progressive solos in a masterful style-clash that well befits Messa’s incendiary reputation.

The hushed Fender Rhodes piano intro on opener “Suspended,” picks up where Messa left off on their previous album “Feast For Water” but then collapses gloriously into Jazz guitar and widescreen impassioned crushing riffs, lighting our way for the odyssey ahead. The scene is set magnificently for the journey that “Close” expertly takes the listener on, with Messa’s obvious care and passion for the album as a pilgrimage of sonic experience. Heavyweight tracks like “If You Want Her To Be Taken” or “0=2” are modern Doom Rock classics that expertly upgrade and leave the genre reeling in their wake. “Pilgrim” and “Orphalese” are woven with tapestries of Mediterranean sounds where Oudh and eastern chord phrasings expand Messa’s cinematic palette with a panache that is all their own. Atmospheric and grandiose belters like “Rubedo” and “Dark Horse” build into an almost limitless climax of discord and harmony where blast beats and saxophones descend into a thrilling cacophony that’s a masterclass in artful cutting edge Doom.

Referencing bands like Dead Can Dance, Swans, and Om, Messa have created an album where song, experience, and atmosphere are focused into a crystalline modus where high art flawlessly embraces good old-fashioned riff-worship. Transcending the occult and noir-tinted atmospheres of their past works, “Close” confidently weaves Messa’s multifarious influences into a singular breath-taking sound that leaves the listener enthralled. Perfection or something extremely close, Messa’s “Close” is not just a Metal record, but it’s definitely one of the best things to break out of the confines of Metal in a long time.

MESSA is:

Sara – Vocals

Marco – Guitar, Bass

Alberto – Guitar

Mistyr – Drums

With a show-stopping voice, runway-ready fashion swagger, and an empowering message, the Boston-raised and Los Angeles-based Mexican-Italian-American siren brings new fire to rock and alternative music.

Diamante spent her teenage years cutting her teeth at local gigs on the Sunset Strip to become the powerhouse performer she is today. A disciple of both P!nk and Guns N’ Roses who doesn’t fall into rockstar excess or even sport tattoos, she devoted every waking minute to honing a signature “hard rock sound with a modern alternative edge.” This unique and undeniable approach caught the attention of Better Noise Music who signed her in 2015. She hit the studio with super producer Howard Benson [My Chemical Romance, Halestorm, Kelly Clarkson] to record what would become her full-length debut, 'Coming In Hot'.

Now three years later, and after extensive touring with bands like Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Chevelle, and Shinedown… Diamante is in full force shining brighter than ever before. In 2019, Diamante reunited with Howard Benson along with Neil Sanderson of Judge & Jury as an independent artist to make her sophomore album, 'American Dream'. Diamante capitalized on her newfound ultimate creative freedom and independence by being her own CEO throughout every facet of the album process. On working with Benson and Sanderson, Diamante praises that they were instrumental in “bringing my stories to life and pushing me to embrace my vulnerabilities”. With her most recent music video for "Unlovable", she has also previously shared smash hits such as fan-favorites "Ghost Myself", "Serves You Right", the beautiful reimagination of Goo Goo Dolls classic "Iris" (featuring Breaking Benjamin), and "I Love Myself For Hating You".

'American Dream' shows exponential growth from 'Coming In Hot' sonically and in its raw authenticity, proving now more than ever that Diamante’s fearlessness to bare her soul in her music is what truly sets her apart.

BLACKTOP MOJO Deliver Valentine's Day Offering with Minimal, Harrowing Cover of THE TEMPTATION'S "My Girl"!

Texas Rock Band BLACKTOP MOJO has delivered the ultimate Valentine's card lament with their newest release, an unexpected and yet deeply poignant cover of The TEMPTATION'S 1965 hit single, "My Girl." Celebrating love while acknowledging the potential for loss, front-man MATT JAMES delivers an intensely emotional vocal performance, with the band providing an incredibly modern, bluesy backdrop on the iconic classic.

The single will be available to purchase / stream on February 25, 2022.

We all know this song. It’s a song that comes on the radio or starts playing in the background as you’re in the grocery store and immediately you begin to hum along and have visions of the new girl you’re falling head over heels for, and you feel all the warm fuzzy feelings she gives you, welling up inside. Our version of the song is when you fast forward into that relationship with the same girl that gave you all that warmth and sunshine, but she’s up and left you and taken the ‘Month of May’ with her.” - Matt James

"We love the original tune. Everyone grew up listening to it. There’s definitely something special about Motown and that era of music and there’s a reason why artists like the Temptations have stood the test of time. However when you’re having a bad day, or maybe having it out with your lady, and a song like “My Girl” comes on, while nine times out of ten it’ll cheer you up, sometimes you just don’t want to hear a happy love song. Sometimes you’re in the ‘Lonely Hearts Club’ instead, and that’s where our version comes in." - BLACKTOP MOJO

NIGHTFALL Premieres New Live Video for "Witches"

NIGHTFALL have previously announced new European tour dates together with Draconian in March 2021! A full list of confirmed shows can be found below.

The album artwork for 'At Night We Prey' was created by Travis Smith and can be found below along with the tracklist.

It has been seven long years since the world was last blessed with new music from the melodic blackened death metal stalwarts of NIGHTFALL. While the band has been absent from the scene since the release of 2013’s Cassiopeia, their legacy has not been forgotten. Comprising the holy trinity of Greek metal – along with ROTTING CHRIST and SEPTICFLESH – NIGHTFALL was the first extreme act in the country to sign an international deal, introducing the world to the burgeoning Mediterranean scene in the early 90s. Now, the band is plotting a triumphant return with At Night We Prey, the darkest and latest chapter of NIGHTFALL’s already storied career. Unlike past efforts, the band abandons any gothic aesthetic, traversing more into a melodic assault that calls to the sounds of Gothenburg, displaying an obvious maturation from the band that showcases their most serious, evolved, and tightest effort to date.

During the first decade of NIGHTFALL’s lifespan, the band headlined stages across Europe. Thereafter, went on to dominate international festivals such as Brutal Assault, Sonisphere, and Wacken, the latter of which the band solidified their legacy as the first ever Greek band to earn an envied spot at the renowned festival. The band eventually made the decision to switch to a studio act before they went completely silent. When reflecting upon the sudden disappearance after a steady rise from the underground, vocalist and founding member Efthimis Karadimas explained that it was due to an all too familiar beast – depression. “It's because of depression that kicked in as early as mid-00s. I can write for hours and get into details about stuff gone wrong or mistreated situations, but the basis of all discouragement to move on has been depression and the effort required to get over it.” Despite the dark days, Karadimas did not abandon music entirely, moving on to form THE SLAYERKING, a gothic doom metal band that has released two agonizing full-length records between 2016-2019.

Alas, the abrupt departure of the band was not the final “goodbye” as NIGHTFALL has been reinvigorated with a new lineup and coveted deal with Season of Mist. Karadimas has reunited with original NIGHTFALL guitarist Mike Galiatsos, who helped define the band’s sound during the early years. With the addition of drummer and producer Fotis Benardo (ex-SEPTICFLESH) as well as guitarist Kostas Kyriakopoulos (THE SLAYERKING), the band is finally ready to release the tenth studio album At Night We Prey. In addition to the long-awaited new music, Season of Mist will also be re-issuing the band’s original albums that were produced by Holy Records back in the 90s. This is not the only news the band has to share as NIGHTFALL has also vowed to finally perform again. “We are gonna play these live, including stuff never played live before,” says Karadimas.

At Night We Prey is a very dark and personal effort, tackling the topic of Karadimas’s battle with depression. “A beast I have experienced its teeth deep into my soul, I decided to come out and share that experience with metalheads,” Karadimas laments. “This is the least I can offer now to the big fight against depression. If we do not stop this, it will eat us all alive. Share your pain, speak openly about it. This is the only way to kill the demons in your mind.”

FEUERSCHWANZ Releases Video for “Skaldenmet” – Live from the Tavern

#1 Album, Memento Mori, Marks Seventh Consecutive Week on the Official German Album Charts

Get Your Copy HERE!

Following their massive German chart entry at #1, the new FEUERSCHWANZ album, Memento Mori, has already landed its seventh consecutive week on the official German album charts. Today, the band has released a video for "Skaldenmet", recorded during the livestream for the album release on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2021. It is already the seventh video the German group has released from their successful album.

FEUERSCHWANZ on “Skaldenmet”:

"From our legendary album release livestream for Memento Mori – “Skaldenmet” live from the Tavern! Join us and let Hauptmann Feuerschwanz take you into the epic world of Norse mythology over mead and firelight!"

Watch the Video for FEUERSCHWANZ’s “Skaldenmet

FEUERSCHWANZ on the background of "Skaldenmet" in Norse mythology:

"After the war (Æsir– Vanir Var) between the two peoples of the gods, all the gods spat into a barrel to seal peace. From this saliva an extraordinarily wise being named Kvasir was born. This was murdered by the two black elves Fjallarr and Galarr and its blood was collected in one mighty and two small cauldrons. From the blood, with the addition of honey, they brewed a mead, through the consumption of which anyone could become a poet.

After that, the two dwarves killed the giant Gillingr and his wife, but were caught by the giant's son, Suttungr, and could only save their lives by offering him the mead. Suttungr accepted the offer and kept the Skaldenmet in Mount Hnitbjörg, where his daughter Gunnlöð guarded it.

In order to get the Skaldenmet, Odin slipped into Mount Hnitbjörg in the form of a snake. After spending three nights with the giant daughter Gunnlöð, she gave him three sips of the mead in thanks. Thereupon Odin turned into an eagle and flew to Asgard. There he spewed the mead into the bowls of the Aesir..."

On Memento Mori, FEUERSCHWANZ finally make the step away from the simpler humor of earlier days, to one of the most important bands in German Folk-Rock!

With chanting violin playing, Memento Mori starts its heroic journey with its eponymous opener. The song turns out to be a melodic rock anthem with a well-known medieval character, a blazing guitar riff and life-affirming lyrics. On "Untot im Drachenboot", the squad around Hauptmann Feuerschwanz sets off for new musical shores in a Viking ship full of undead warriors. "Rausch der Barberei", on the other hand delivers a violent, raw voice and driving drumming that send its listeners into unbridled frenzy. On "Krampus", FEUERSCHWANZ sing in a canon of vocals and instruments about the ancient legend of the demonic companion of St. Nicholas, who is dressed in fur and a horned mask. On the ballad "Das Herz eines Drachen" (The Heart of a Dragon), the medieval folk rockers show their sensible side. In a fire lit by burning guitar sounds and flute melodies, a warrior mourns his fallen father with his head held high. "Hannibal" on the other hand embarks on a raging battle of powerful choirs, swirling violin and guitar solos and driving drums, led by army commander Hannibal. The crowning finale of the almost 40-minute adventure is provided by "Skaldenmet" with its proudly advancing bass.

In trademark FEUERSCHWANZ style, Memento Mori is about great adventures, historic battles and outstanding heroic deeds. FEUERSCHWANZ manage to stay true to their trademarks and at the same time venture into new musical realms. Fans of the band can look forward to an extensive deluxe edition of the album, which extends the running time of Memento Mori by almost double! Two additional CDs feature instrumental versions of all eleven tracks as well as the cover CD Die Glorreichen Sieben (The Magnificent Seven), which includes seven epic reissues from Amon Amarth to Die Ärzte and The Weeknd.

FEUERSCHWANZ on the new album:

“You take nothing with you to your grave, except your coffin... Memento Mori is the direct successor to Die Letzte Schlacht! The world of Hauptmann Feuerschwanz is in flames, overrun by the living dead and scourged by religious zealots... All of this sounds frighteningly real, even in Anno Domini 2021, so it's time to defy the storm once again and celebrate life. Let's live here, let's live now - until death sharpens his knife!”

Memento Mori out NOW!

As a special highlight, some versions of Memento Mori will feature a bonus CD with seven cover songs by Manowar, Amon Amarth, but also O-Zone, among others.

FEUERSCHWANZ are:

Hauptmann Feuerschwanz - vocals, guitar

Johanna von der Vögelweide - violin, hurdy-gurdy

Sir Lanzeflott - drums

Jarne Hodinsson - bass

Prinz Hodenherz - flutes, bagpipe, guitars, vocals

Hans der Aufrechte - guitar

It's no secret that these North Florida natives respect their Rock 'N' Roll elders. It's the true feel of the 70's (bell bottoms, mustaches and all) but with a touch of modern flair. Having just formed in 2021, Fortune Child (Christian Powers / vocals, Buddy Crump / lead guitar, Melanie Jo / drums, and Jon Ward/bass) has quickly garnered the support of the Southeast US Rock 'N' Roll scene and will continue to do so with each passing day. These cats know how to rock, and it seems that there's no stopping them once those first notes rip through the air.

For 2022, the band has partnered with legendary rock producer Kevin Elson(JourneyMr. Big, EuropeLynyrd Skynyrd) to produce their full length debut album, Close to the Sun, due in early March. Their first single, "Far", is already well on its way, having found its own rightful spot on Yahoo! Newsand has gathered press coverage in countries as far away as Australia and Russia. It even got a good old-fashioned thumbs up from Billy Gibbons* himself and has turned the heads of some of the industry's heaviest hitters. This sort of thing leads us all to wonder: What could come next for this brand new Rock 'N' Roll freight train?

With each record NECRONOMICON has created in the span of their 31-year career, the band has steadily evolved in both sound and power; 'UNUS' is no exception to this.

Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary grimoire, NECRONOMICON formed in 1988 by founding guitarist and singer Rob "The Witch" in the deep, northern part of Canadian province Quebec, Fjord of Saguenay. Since then, the band have carefully released each full-length without haste, allowing them to perfect every nuance before unleashing their sonic assaults upon the masses. In 2019, NECRONOMICON was presented with a certificate of honor for over 30 years of service via H.S. production/Tommy Tremblay, and the people of Saguenay Lac St Jean, making them the second band after VOIVOD to ever receive this honor.

'UNUS' is a searing cacophony of blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the orchestral prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres. Standout tracks like “Paradise Lost” and “Singularis Dominus” only solidify NECRONOMICON’s ability to continuously produce high quality metal that’s just as dark and brutal as it is elegant.

EARSHOT Releases Two New Singles "YOU + I" and "Tongue Tied (Unplugged) to all major outlets!

"You + I" and "Tongue Tied (Unplugged)" can be streamed/downloaded at:

Earshot released two new singles "You + I" and "Tongue Tied (Unplugged)" to all major platforms!

"You + I" was written by Wil Martin, Andy Stafford, Aaron Fink, John Novak and Michael Sylvia. The song was produced by Wil Martin & Aaron Fink, mixed and mastered by Allen Terry.

"Tongue Tied (Unplugged)" was written, produced and mixed by Wil Martin and mastered by Rob Brill. The song was previously released on their second album TWO.

"When I first heard the guitars in the verse for 'You + I', it instantly conjured up thoughts and feelings that reminded me of the emotional rush and mental obsession that typically happens between 2 people in the beginning of a new relationship, and I just went with it. It all came together very fast and organically," says Wil Martin.

He continues, "'Tongue Tied' has ALWAYS been a personal favorite of mine and for this release, I just felt like it was a fitting duality. Not only do I think that we pulled it off beautifully, but it doesn’t come across to me as a sad 'woe is me' song. Instead, I feel like it comes across as more matter of fact and emotionally resolved."

Aaron Fink adds, "'You + I' was the first song we all started working on when I first joined the band and I knew right away we were on to something very special with this one. I heard the verse guitar parts in my head instantly and the bridge parts too. There was no hesitation, it just all came together really quickly and effortlessly. The song was recorded during Covid so we unfortunately tracked it remotely, however, it FEELS really good when I hear the final mix and it all gels. That's a testament to our potential and to what may come. Everybody in the band played their ass off on 'You & I'. Everyone shines and I love Wil's lyrics for the song. Really well thought out and emotional."

In regards to "Tongue Tied", Fink says "Our acoustic version of 'Tongue Tied' turned out beautifully I think, a really interesting spin on an old song from the catalog. Andy and I played some nice juxtaposing rhythm parts that make for a nice blend when heard together. Wil had a great idea to not sing the last chorus at all and have some kind of lead on the guitar, really take it somewhere else. Love that arrangement and the lift that it creates."

In a sea of melodic clones struggling to break through the surface, Earshot has always had the innate ability to transcend the rigid barrier of genre-defining music with a singular sound that can only be described as their own.

Their signature, driving, hard rock beats coupled with hook-laden harmonies are matched only by their unbridled creativity and willingness to experiment with musical textures and themes – elements that had captivated fans’ attention in the band’s early days and continue to do so now 20 years later.

Formed in 1999 – the genesis of lead vocalists, Wil Martin, with then members (Bassist) Guy Couturier, (Drummer) Dieter Hartman and (Guitarist) Scott Kohler– the Los Angeles-based band quickly shot to success after signing with Warner Bros. Records in 2002. They released their debut album LETTING GO (produced by David Kahne and mixed by Andy Wallace).

Upon its release, the band quickly found themselves on the road touring constantly with such notable rock acts such as Kid Rock, Staind, Shinedown, Hooabstankand Stone Temple Pilots to support the record.

This national exposure, combined with an aggressive radio campaign, pushed their debut single “Get Away” to #4 on the U.S. Active Rock Radio Charts where it stayed in the Top 100 for over 64 weeks. At the same time, Earshot’s hit song “Headstrong”was featured on The Queen of The Damned soundtrack alongside other artists such as Disturbed, Deftones and Marilyn Manson, further cementing their place among rock’s elite.

However, it wasn’t until the band’s sophomore album TWO (produced by Johnny K. and mixed by Rich Costey), released by Warner Bros. Records in 2004, that they would hit mainstream success with their single “Wait.” It not only reached #9 on U.S. Active Rock Radio but was also featured on the Madden NFL 2005 and MX vs. ATV Unleashed video game soundtracks.

After the success of their first two albums, Earshot found themselves at a crossroads with Warner Bros. Records and eventually parted ways in 2005. This led to a brief break for the band before inking a deal with Indegoot/Fontana/Universal Recordings in 2007 to release their 3rd album THE SILVER LINING (produced by Brian Garcia and Wil Martin; mixed by Mike Watts) yielding their fifth-charting radio single “MisSunderstood.”

With three chart-topping albums under their belts and a rigorous seven years of touring and recording, Earshot took a hiatus after the release of THE SILVER LINING. Yet after a nearly decade-long break they emerged producing their long-awaited fourth studio recording AFTERMATH (produced by Wil Martin and mixed by Sam Hughes), a five-song EP featuring an intimate, re-recorded acoustic performance of “Fall Apart,” previously released on the band’s second and most beloved album TWO, as well as the release of the album’s first single "Now That It's Over."

Through the epic highs and lows of the music industry as well as life in general, Earshot once again reactivated in 2019 with four new members: Aaron Fink, the former lead guitarist for Platinum-selling Breaking Benjamin, bassist John Novakfrom the alternative rock band Down To Six, drummer Mike Sylvia and guitarist Andy Stafford.

Regardless of the trends, trials and tribulations, Earshot has always remained true to themselves and continue to produce music that their fans can relate to on a deeper level, beginning with their remake of Alanis Morrisette’s “Uninvited” and their first single of 2021, “Been A Long Time” which was the #2 MOST ADDED on the Billboard (BDS) Mainstream Rock Indicator chart, reaching the Top 20 Billboard Mainstream and Active Rock Charts.

Earshot is:
Wil Martin - vocals / guitar
Aaron Fink - guitars
Andy Stafford - guitars
John Novak - bass
Michael Sylvia - drums

HARDCORE LEGENDS, DOWNSET, JOIN NUCLEAR BLAST &REISSUE GROUNDBREAKING DEBUT 7" DEMOS

Los Angeles' groundbreaking pioneers of the rap/hardcore hybrid and outspoken sociopolitical activists, DOWNSET, have officially joined forces with the heaviest label in the business Nuclear Blast Records and are currently plotting one of the genres greatest comebacks. To mark the occasion, the band has partnered with the label to reissue the controversial demos that helped ignite a street led movement around the world, "Anger/Ritual" 7" and "About Ta Blast" 7", which were initially released 30 years ago.

Stream/Pre-order "Anger/Ritual" 7": https://bfan.link/downset-AngerRitual
Stream/Pre-order "About Ta Blast" 7": https://bfan.link/downset-AboutTaBlast

Commenting on the signing to Nuclear Blast, founding guitarist Rogelio Lozano says:

"Being signed to Nuclear Blast is a big honor for me. It’s a great organization/record label and working with the people there has been nothing but pleasant, professional experience. Nuclear Blast is the #1 heavy metal label in the world with so many great bands and amazing album releases. It gives my band and me the feeling of being a part of something special. We feel right at home, excited and look forward into the re-release of the first two original 7” records as a reissued bundle, as well as our forthcoming 6th album!

Look out for a mix of old school sound and 12 songs featuring the new era of downset in 2022. With our new lineup, Bobby Blood Ponte on drums, Phillip Gonzales on bass, myself on Guitar and OG Rey Oropeza on vocals, we plan on continuing the legacy with future albums to come. WE ARE BACK!!"

Additionally, DOWNSET has revealed a new music video today for the bonus demo track "Breed The Killer," that features vintage live footage of them performing the song. Watch the video here

Monumental progress doesn’t occur overnight. Some of man kind’s most powerful words don’t come from education or privilege, but erupt from the pain and roughness of the streets; they smolder through the cracks in the concrete until eventually grand truths are revealed, and the winds of change slowly emerge. It is with these notions in mind that old school Hardcore Kings DOWNSET began to surface in Los Angeles, California in the early 1980’s.

The genesis of DOWNSET itself was not one of entitlement or handouts, either. Originally formed with a straight edge mentality under the name of SOCIAL JUSTICE, the members of DOWNSET have been fighting against societal injustice for a long time. Founder and vocalist Rey Oropeza began using graffiti as its own language for change in about 1982. “I would hit the streets… and when you hit the streets there’s violence, there’s racial injustice; it’s not just violence in the sense of someone pulling out a gun on someone else, there’s a violence that can happen to anybody, you can be rich, poor, male, female… and these things affect people for the rest of their lives,” he explains. The group eventually released demos and shifted from SOCIAL JUSTICE to DOWNSET. “It has multiple meanings,” explains guitarist and producer Rogelio Lozano (CYPRESS HILL, POWERFLO). “Some people are set up in life, some are down with a set, but it also means to start off underprivileged; to have a life full of disadvantages.” All of these notions and inspirations eventually procured a self-titled studio album that was released in 1994 via Mercury Records.

A musical style that was distinctly hardcore combined with Oropeza’s MC abilities allowed DOWNSET to stand out from other metal acts, while still being able to achieve a variety of tours with some of the most prominent bands of the time. After member rearrangements, and the 1996 release of "Do We Speak A Dead Language," the band went on to join the original “TATTOO THE EARTH” tour in 2000 with the likes of SLAYER, SEPULTURA, MUDVAYNE and more. This all coincided perfectly with the release of "Check Your People," and once again the band was on the hustle.

With more member changes and the release of "Universal" a few years later in 2004, followed up by self-released "One Blood" in 2014, the band continued on hiatus. Now seven years later in 2022, DOWNSET have officially returned to the scene and have signed a record deal with the world’s leading metal label: Nuclear Blast Records. The new year will hold colossal announcements as far as new music, touring, and more. The future of society remains to be seen, but the future of DOWNSET has been carved in the stone of the streets for decades.

Rogelio Lozano | Guitar
Phillip Gonzales | Bass

Esprit D'Air Releases New Album 'Oceans' + New Remastered Music Video "Leviathan 2.0 (Enhanced Edition)"

London-based Japanese electronic metal band Esprit D'Air has today released their latest album, 'Oceans' (out via Starstorm Records) which features appearances by Ben Christo from gothic rock legends The Sisters Of Mercy and remixes by Heavygrinder and Shirobon. In celebration of today's release, Esprit D'Air has unveiled a remastered music video of the "Leviathan" music video, "Leviathan 2.0 (Enhanced Edition)". Prior to today, the band dropped their latest release "The Abyss" featuring Ryo Kinoshita from Crystal Lake. Stream 'Oceans' here, and watch "Leviathan 2.0 (Enhanced Edition)" below.

Reformed in 2016, Esprit D'Air is a Japanese electronic rock/metal solo project led by vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Kai. As featured on Loudwire, HuffPost, BBC Radio, Kerrang! & Louder, their sound is unique and fresh, bringing together hard-hitting aggression with melodic vocals and electronic synthesizers. In 2018, Esprit D'Air won 'Best Metal Album' at The Independent Music Awards in New York, for the release of their debut album, Constellations, judged by an esteemed panel featuring Slayer, Amy Lee (Evanescence), Sepultura & more.

Kai is not seeking a major record label but instead, follows a strong DIY ethos and produces everything himself to be as self-sufficient as possible. Consequently, they record and produce their own releases in their own home recording studio. In late 2020, Esprit D'Air released their single, "Leviathan", receiving support and praise from Loudwire, Kerrang! Radio, as well as members of The Sisters of Mercy, and The Birthday Massacre. Scorpions Share "Shining of Your Soul" — LISTEN▶

19TH ALBUM ROCK BELIEVER OUT FEBRUARY 25, 2022

It's about the moment in a person's life that must be one of the most frequently interpreted emotions, be it in rock, pop or in electronic music: a moment the French call amour fou (the significance of this sudden emotion and its intensity being considered to be almost obsessive).

But what the SCORPIONS primarily wanted to express in their song "Shining of Your Soul" is that breathtaking emotion caused by the sudden realization, as the lyrics' author, SCORPIONS vocalist Klaus Meine, puts it: "When someone enters the room and you sense an aura that makes everything else fade into the background. When the atmosphere changes inexplicably, and one is enveloped in a warm glow. The shining of a soul."

That moment, which the band describes on the new lead single lifted from their current, brilliant album Rock Believer, ("I can't stop believing, it's more than a feeling, and when you come through the door, I see the shining of your soul”), also illustrates one of the unsolved mysteries of our emotional world, those mythical moments in our encounters with other people.

At the same time, "Shining of Your Soul" is one of the very few love songs on Rock Believer.

Kenny's "Knowing You" Turns Gold, So Does HERE & NOW, SONGS FOR THE SAINTS

“KNOWING YOU,” KENNY CHESNEY’S 34TH NO. 1, TURNS GOLD

Certifies 500,000 Sold Alongside Songs for the Saints and Here And Now

“...Knowing you, you’re still wild and free...”

At a time when people debate the enduring power of songs or moments, Kenny Chesneysees “Knowing You,” his record-maintaining 34th No. 1, certified Gold for sales of 500,000. The classic country waltz – which stands in stark contrast to most of what’s on country radio – joins the post-Hurricane Irma and Maria celebration of island spirit Songs for the Saints and his Blue Chair Records/Warner Music Nashville debut Here And Now for RIAA certification.

“I will always believe in the power of a genuinely great song,” Chesney says of “Knowing You” and its success. “Beyond trends or moments, there are real emotions, deep life truths that the best songs carry. When I heard ‘Knowing You,’ I knew it wasn’t what anybody else was probably looking for – but it was a song that had to be heard. So, we went with it; we believed in it, and Kat Higgins and Adam James got their first No. 1s.

“To me, those are the things Nashville was built on. I am proud to carry on those kinds of traditions, to set sparks for young writers and to hear that actual people responded to the song the same way I did. When you hear a song like this is Gold, you know that greatness still touches people in the heart.”

“Knowing You,” a four-minute waltz about celebrating someone lost to time, a break-up or death, is exactly the kind of song to connect beyond surface or mere TikTok momentum. Higgins, James and Brett James were recognized by the Academy of Country Music’s expert panel with a nomination for Song of the Year at the March 7 ACM Awards, live from Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium exclusively on Prime Video.

In addition, Songs for the Saints, written and recorded in the immediate wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and Here And Now, his ninth No. 1 debut on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart, have also been certified Gold for sales in excess of 500,000. Crafted with immense attention to detail and expanding the narratives Chesney began defining with 2005’s Be As You Are (Songs from an Old Blue Chair) and 2002’s No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems, each project takes a deeper dive into both his introspective life on the water and his unique perspective on coming of age and awareness in the flyover.

“I am always pushing myself, along with my producer Buddy Cannon, to move deeper into the heart of No Shoes Nation,” Chesney explains. “The people who live inside these songs, they grow, have life all kinds of experiences, but they keep their spirit, which no matter what they do is a little untamed and free.

“And they’re also people who want to have that physical piece of the music to hold on to. They value what these songs represent, so this reminds me how much music really matters in a world that often feels like it’s just rushing by.”

With his Here And Now 2022 Tour kicking off April 23 in Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium, the only country artist in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Top 25 Live Artists in 25 Years is ready to get back to what he does best: bring the music to the people. With “Everyone She Knows,” another female empowering moment for the women who live in their own terms and defy expectation, hitting country radio now, it’s time to get back to summer as normal out in the No Shoes Nation.

Nashville Celebrates Premiere of LOVE, TOM Documentary with Tom Douglas and Tim McGraw Q&A

NASHVILLE CELEBRATES PREMIERE OF LOVE, TOM DOCUMENTARY

Legendary Songwriter Tom Douglas Joined by Tim McGraw for Q&A Following Film Screening

Love, Tom Premieres Exclusively on Paramount+ Thursday, Feb. 24

On Tuesday, February 15, the Nashville community gathered to celebrate the premiere of Love, Tom – a film from legendary songwriter Tom Douglas. The film premiered at the Regal Green Hills Theater, with Douglas joined by friend and co-writer Tim McGraw for a Q&A after the viewing.

During the Q&A McGraw remarked “There’s been plenty of songs in my career – and most of them you have written – that I don’t really even feel like it’s my song. I feel like I’m just the vessel that it comes through, and the song’s really for everyone else. As a songwriter and a singer, that’s what you try to do. You try to open up a door for people to walk through and express themselves.”

From executive producers Tom Douglas, Tommy Douglas, Austin Fish, Jason Owen and Michael Lennox, Love, Tom is produced in association with Sandbox Productions in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment’s Premium Content Division. The film will release exclusively on Paramount+ on Thursday, Feb. 24.

Over the course of a single night in Nashville, the GRAMMY, Oscar and Golden Globe nominated songwriter Tom Douglas narrates a letter of hope to a desperate world. Unflinchingly honest and personal, Douglas peels back the curtain of the creative process, revealing his own past hardships and the struggle of the creative endeavor, ultimately reminding us that you can never give up on something that you love.

Last night, Douglas expressed what the journey to this film means to him in conversation with McGraw stating, “The thing that attracts me to stories is the brokenness. I want to know how you overcome failure. I want to know what you do in the desperate times. That’s what I wanted to show. You know, the struggle is really evidence that you’re probably on the right path.”

About Tom Douglas
Tom Douglas is an Academy Award, Golden Globe and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter. After enjoying a 13-year career in commercial real estate, Douglas got his first song recorded by Collin Raye at the age of 41. That song, “Little Rock”, reached No. 1, earned a nomination for CMA Song of the Year and achieved the Million-Air award from BMI for receiving one million spins on country radio. Since then, Douglas has written numerous number one hits, including: “I Run to You” (Lady A), “Southern Voice” (Tim McGraw) and “The House That Built Me” (Miranda Lambert). The GRAMMY Award-winning song “The House That Built Me” remained at No. 1 on the Billboard charts for four weeks and earned ACM’s first ever Song of the Decade award.

Douglas has written countless well-received songs for a wide range of artists, including: Keith Urban, P!nk, Luke Bryan, Celine Dion, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Kenny Chesney, Kane Brown, George Strait, Chris Janson and Collin Raye, among others. In 2011 Douglas’ song “Coming Home” received an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song. In 2014, Douglas was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, subsequently receiving a GRAMMY Nomination for his song “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s” recorded by Tim McGraw. Some of Douglas’ recent work includes “Drunk Girl” recorded by Chris Janson, which received the 2018 MusicRow Award for Song of The Year. He also penned the song “Dear Hate” recorded by Maren Morris and Vince Gill, earning the GRAMMY nomination for the 2019 Country Song of the Year. Douglas is currently signed to Sony Music Publishing, and lives in Nashville with his wife, Katie.

For genre-bending band Whiskey Myers, 2019’s self-titled and self-produced album offered a watershed moment. With Rolling Stone raving that the “irresistible” album was “the record the band was poised to make” while declaring them “the new torch bearers for Southern music” in a story titled “How Whiskey Myers Won Over Mick Jagger and Made the Album of Their Career;” Billboard and No Depression naming the album to best-of-the-year lists; 41,000 first week album sales; and the project debuting atop both the Country and Americana album charts (as well as at No. 2 on the Rock charts, behind only a re-release of The Beatles’ Abbey Road), the band celebrated mainstream success a decade in the making.

Now, after spending 21 days isolated at the 2,300-acre Sonic Ranch studio deep in the heart of their native Texas, just miles from the U.S./Mexico border, the Gold-certified renegades have doubled down on what they do best: sharing honest truths with no-holds-barred instrumentation, letting the self-produced music speak for itself. Yet with Tornillo, named for the border town that is home to the pecan orchard-filled recording complex and set for release on July 29 via their own Wiggy Thump Records with distribution by Thirty Tigers, the six-piece band has taken their solid decade-plus foundation and pushed themself to further explore new sonic landscapes.

“It’s going to have a little bit different sound,” lead singer Cody Cannon shared recently with Outsider. “It’s still Whiskey Myers at its core, but it’s kind of fresh… We did a lot of bass and horns on this one, which is something we’ve always wanted to do. Just being fans of all that old music and Motown stuff, and a lot of the stuff coming out of Muscle Shoals, old rock and roll.

“We’re going to bend [genre] even more, I think, with this new record,” he continued. “It’s all over the place. But that’s fun, right? I hate the whole ‘Put it in a box. You gotta be this.’ … That’s not art to me. I love the idea of just doing, really, whatever you feel. It comes out a certain way because that’s just how it comes out. Whiskey Myers never really tried to be a certain way. It’s just how we are. So I think that’s really the whole thing about music, or the beauty about music; it’s just that freedom to create.”

Tornillo as a whole does exactly that, drawing as much inspiration from Nirvana as from Waylon Jennings – even adding the legendary McCrary Sisters’ gospel influence to the project on background vocals. With Cannon leading the way on songwriting, the album also features writes from lead guitarist John Jeffers and fellow bandmembers Jamey Gleaves and Tony Kent, as well as rising singer/songwriter Aaron Raitiere (Anderson East, Oak Ridge Boys, A Star is Born).

The first taste of that new music comes today via lead single “John Wayne” and album intro “Tornillo,” both available everywhere now with the album itself available for pre-order and pre-save HERE.

Fans also have the chance to hear the new music live with today’s announcement of the 41-date Tornillo Tour, launching in April and running through August. The tour builds upon the growing success of the road warriors’ consistently sold-out shows, offering capacities upwards of 5,000 – 10,000 fans in cities including Indianapolis, Oklahoma City and more, plus the band’s debut at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival this fall.

Tickets to all headlining dates are on sale to the general public Thursday, Feb, 23 at 10 a.m. local time via WhiskeyMyers.com, with presale access available for members of the “Official Whiskey Myers Fans” Facebook page beginning Monday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. local time. Additionally, Spotify will give the band’s biggest fans on the platform early access beginning Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. local time.

Their forthcoming self-produced album, Tornillo, set for release July 29, follows their self-produced fifth studio album, WHISKEY MYERS, out now on the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records. WHISKEY MYERS debuted at No. 1 on both the Country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at No. 2 on the Rock chart and No. 6 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart (No. 3 among new releases). Their previous album, Mud, reached No. 1 on the iTunes country chart with single “Stone” hitting Top 10 all genre. In total, Whiskey Myers have sold more than 1.2 million albums and amassed over 1.5 billion streams while earning three RIAA Gold certifications. USA Today describes the band led by frontman Cody Cannon as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” with Rolling Stone noting “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy rock & roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.” The band known for their high-energy live show and unique sound has also earned sync success with features (and an on-screen appearance) in Paramount Network’s Kevin Costner hit show “Yellowstone” as well as the Renée Zellweger-led Netflix series “What/If,” the Angelina Jolie film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and hit CBS series “SEAL Team.”

About Eric Church
Eric Church spent the past year releasing new music at a relentless pace; sharing the results of a marathon session during which he spent nearly a month writing and recording a song per day while sequestered in rural North Carolina – including his latest Gold-certified No. 1 “Hell of a View” and current Top 10-and-climbing single “Heart On Fire.” The resulting critically acclaimed and chart-topping three-part project, Heart & Soul, is available everywhere now.

Just as unique as Church’s approach to recording and releasing music is his tenacity on the road. During 2019’s Double Down Tour, Church played back-to-back nights of two unique shows in each market sans opening act, giving every city’s fans six-plus hours of his iconic music. The tour also featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with more than 56,000 fans in attendance and became the first artist to sell out the venue with a solo lineup. Church also took to the field at Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium in 2021 to perform the National Anthem with R&B star Jazmine Sullivan ahead of Super Bowl LV and has now returned to the road for his 55-city The Gather Again Tour, visiting full-capacity arenas for an in-the-round show in addition to a recent headlining spot alongside George Strait and Metallica during the ATLive festival at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. He will also headline a one-of-a-kind stadium show at Milwaukee’s American Family Field this May.

A seven-time ACM Award winner, four-time CMA Award winner (including the 2020 award for Entertainer of the Year) and 10-time GRAMMY nominee, Church has amassed a passionate fanbase around the globe known as the Church Choir as well as a critically acclaimed catalog of music. His previous project, the Gold-certified Desperate Man, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album (his third nod in the category). Prior releases include the Platinum-certified Sinners Like Me (“How ’Bout You,” “Guys Like Me”), Carolina (“Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most”) and Mr. Misunderstood (“Record Year,” “Round Here Buzz”), the Double-Platinum certified The Outsiders (“Like a Wrecking Ball,” “Talladega”) and the 3x Platinum-certified Chief (“Springsteen,” “Drink In My Hand”), as well as 30 Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certified singles.

About Brothers Osborne
Two sons from a working-class family, John and TJ Osborne grew up in a small, Maryland water town writing and playing songs for friends and family in their father’s shed. John moved to Nashville first to play in other bands and two years later, TJ joined him. It was then they formed Brothers Osborne as a duo that blends equal parts country and rock into one of the freshest, most identifiable sounds to come out of Nashville in recent years.

The singer/songwriter siblings stand as nine-time GRAMMY nominees – and are nominated for Best Country Album (Skeletons) and Best Country Duo/Group Performance (“Younger Me”) at the upcoming 64th GRAMMY Awards. The duo took home their fourth Vocal Duo of the Year trophy at the 55th annual CMA Awards, in addition to being named ACM Duo of the Year twice. Overall Brothers Osborne have collected five CMA and five ACM trophies. Additionally, they received the ASCAP Vanguard Award in 2019 recognizing artists whose innovative work is helping to shape the future of music.

Brothers Osborne recently released the deluxe edition of their third studio album, Skeletons, on January 21. Originally released in October 2020, Skeletons features their current single “I’m Not For Everyone,” as well as their Top 25 hit “All Night.” Included on Skeletons Deluxe, “Younger Me” was released in April as a response to the overwhelming support TJ received after sharing his personal story. John and TJ wrote and produced the track, with Kendell Marvel serving as an additional co-writer.

Brothers Osborne are currently on tour with all dates here. They recently completed their We’re Not For Everyone Tour, hitting over 50 markets including New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Dallas, Atlanta and more. Brothers Osborne has previously toured with Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert and more.

About Parker McCollum
Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Parker McCollum released his major label debut album, Gold Chain Cowboy, with MCA last fall. The album follows his Hollywood Gold EP which was met with widespread critical acclaim and became the top-selling debut Country EP of 2020. McCollum earned his first-ever No. 1 hit with his Platinum-selling premiere single, “Pretty Heart,” and his follow-up single, “To Be Loved By You,” is currently Top 10 at Country radio. “To Be Loved By You” is the latest release off Gold Chain Cowboy – the highest first week debut album of 2021. In November 2021, McCollum made his first late-night TV appearance performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

McCollum has been named an ‘Artist to Watch’ by Rolling Stone, Billboard, SiriusXM, CMT, RIAA and more with American Songwriter noting, “The Texas native teeters on the edge of next-level superstardom.” MusicRowlisted McCollum as their 2021 Breakout Artist of the Year and Apple also included him as one of their all-genre “Up Next Artists” Class of 2021. A dedicated road warrior, McCollum already sells out venues across the country (over 40 sold out shows nationwide in 2021) including record-breaking crowds in Dallas (20,000), The Woodlands (16,500), Austin (7,500+), Lubbock (7,700+), Jackson, Miss. (5,000+), Kearney, Neb. (3,000+), Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and three nights at Fort Worth’s iconic Billy Bob’s Texas.

McCollum earned his first ACM nomination for New Male Artist of the Year in 2021 and also made his debut playing the famed Grand Ole Opry in February 2021.

Dark Metal Quintet AGATHODAIMON Reveals Second Single "Wolf Within" + Lyric Video!

New Full-Length Album, The Seven, out March 18, 2022 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order NOW!

AGATHODAIMON’s comeback, seven years after their release of In Darkness, is one not to miss: The Seven, the seventh studio album of the German frontrunners, will be released on March 18, 2022 via Napalm Records. AGATHODAIMON’s brand new ten track offering stays true to their old-school spirit hits with new vigor, one hard to pigeonhole due to its widespread musical styles, creating gloomy atmospheres with sharp growls and insane clear vocals. Prepare for an exceptional sonic universe!

Let yourself be consumed by AGATHODAIMON’s obscure second single "Wolf Within", released today with a gloomy lyric video. The song is drenched in a sense of pain and nostalgia, and with lyrics such as ‘Taste the sin and cross the horizon, the world goes gently up in flames’, it’s impossible to overlook. An evocative guitar solo will guide to the peak of this doom-filled track and sets the listener free from its spell with one last emotional chorus.

Founder, bandleader and guitarist Sathonys on “Wolf Within”:

“We wanted to show a different side of the album with this song. While the first single sounded primarily aggressive and brute, 'Wolf Within' is just as dark, but a good bit more melodic and thanks to some quiet passages and Ashtrael's clear vocals also quite memorable. Enjoy this pre-taste of the upcoming album, and be sure to check out the lyric video, as it features some of the excellent artwork created to illustrate THE SEVEN.”

Watch the Lyric Video for "Wolf Within"

Formed in 1995 and entering the scene with their debut, Blacken the Angel, in 1998, bandleader Sathonys was temporarily forced to put AGATHODAIMON on hold in 2014 due to private circumstances. But the irrevocable fire of the band and their fans never went out, seeking a reawakening of this sonic, seething beast. The unit's massive new outburst, The Seven, reveals extreme soundscapes amid a captivating concoction of evil, provoking, cutting dark metal and heroic symphonic black metal in the style of bands like Cradle of Filthand Carach Angren, but with their unique and very own multifaceted take. Thematically, as hinted by the album’s title, the full-length is centered around the momentous and symbolically powerful number seven and the seven deadly sins - sloth, greed, lust, gluttony, pride, wrath, envy - on ten tracks total, all addressed with religious themes that contrast with human beings and its original nature.

Sathonys about the album:

“Well, we took our time in creating this album. We had to make sure we (can) work together as a band after all these years, that the chemistry is there, that it feels organic to release another album after such a long break. To cut it short, we’re really looking forward to having The Seven out, as we’re very satisfied with it. More than that, we’re proud of it. Typically, you can point a finger at one or two songs that really stand out from the rest, but here, you’ll feel the effort that was put into every song and every aspect. Not only in terms of songwriting, there’s also the artistic concept and visual artwork/realization delivered by the team of Credo Quia Absurdum, and excellent production under the supervision of our friend Kristian “Kohle” Kohlmannslehner (Powerwolf, Aborted, Benighted etc.). Usually you have to be prepared to make compromises. The Seven is far from that, as it is our most ambitious album to date.”

Pre-order your copy of The Seven NOW!

Diving into this exciting construct with opener “La Haine”, the track lures the listener into the freezing, dark world of AGATHODAIMON, produced by long-time companion Kristian “Kohle” Bonifer (Aborted, Powerwolf, Hämatom amongst others), by building up a dense wall of thunderous sound, accented by a multifaceted vocal interpretation. Songs like raging “Wolf Within” and haunting “In my Dreams” roam between dense soundscapes, crushing instrumentals and intense lyricism. “Kyrie / Gloria” on the other hand stomps more towards heavy doom metal, calling for a black mass with creeping darkness and desperate screams turning into harsh black metal parts, all topped by the guest appearance of Benightedfrontman Julien Truchan. Amid the tracklisting there's another special treat for fans lurking with epochal orchestration that paves the war for the remarkable performance of AGATHODAIMON’s former vocalist, Romanian Vlad Dracul, on “Mother of all Gods”. It’s not only this very first collaboration since 1999, but The Seven as a whole, that showcases that AGATHODAIMON absolutely acing the balancing act of incorporating their past into a bright and exciting future.

The Seven will be available in the following formats:

1 - LP Gatefold Ocean Blue
