Back with a vengeance and hell-bent on destruction, Norwegian death metallers, CADAVER, are back in business and ready to reign. Edder & Bile, the first full length from this band’s new incarnation of Anders Odden’s original, extreme metal vision, was unleashed unto the world in November of 2020 via Nuclear Blast Records. Today, the band releases the music video for "Years Of Nothing" which can be viewed below.

Anders Odden comments, "The release of ‘Years of Nothing’ symbolizes the 2 years we have gone through just now with the most boring end of the world ever. It is also the last Covid-19 styled video we will make. When the world closed down musicians started to jam across the continents and do these split-screen videos from their studio. It’s exactly how we did this. Writing this comment on tour with sold-out shows with MAYHEM right now feels great. May the pandemic be behind us.”

Edder & Bile was produced by the band as well as Adair Daufembach who also handled the engineering. The album was recorded and mixed at Northwood Sound Studios in Hollywood, CA. The album features vocal cameos from death metal icons Kam Lee (MASSACRE) and Jeff Becerra (POSSESSED) ensuring that this crushing rebirth has underground credentials to spare. The photo for the artwork was taken by Hannah Verbeuren and the layout was created by Justin Bartlett.

SYLOSIS - Display Insurmountable Force With New Single "Immovable Stone"

Premiere thrash outfit Sylosis have released a video for their brand new single "Immovable Stone". Another prime example of the quartet's uniquely exhilarating take on modern metal, "Immovable Stone" is the band's first release since the furious "Worship Decay" last December.

Sylosis founder Josh Middleton comments "'Immovable Stone' is the second song released from a recording session we did last year which includes 'Worship Decay' (released December 2020) and one other song which will remain unreleased due to it accidentally being wiped from existence on a broken hard drive. Another slightly different sounding song to anything on Cycle of Suffering. A nice way to tie off 2021 and keep things moving forwards ahead of a new SYLOSIS record in 2022."

FEUERSCHWANZ are set to release their new album Memento Mori on December 31, 2021. The new album will continue the success story of the medieval rockers from Germany / Franconia! On Memento Mori, FEUERSCHWANZ finally take a step away from the simpler humor of earlier days to become one of the most important bands in German folk rock.

With chanting violin playing, Memento Mori starts its heroic journey with its eponymous opener. The song turns out to be a melodic rock anthem with a well-known medieval character, a blazing guitar riff and life-affirming lyrics. On "Untot im Drachenboot", the squad around Captain Feuerschwanz sets off for new musical shores in a Viking ship full of undead warriors. "Rausch der Barberei", on the other hand delivers a violent, raw voice and driving drumming that send its listeners into unbridled frenzy. On "Krampus", FEUERSCHWANZsing in a canon of vocals and instruments about the ancient legend of the demonic companion of St. Nicholas, who is dressed in fur and a horned mask. Baltimore tech-metal outfit WAIT (We Are In Transit) have released a new single from their upcoming debut album. The new track, titled "I Climb Downhill", is out today and accompanied by a visualizer.

WAIT first took shape when guitarist Charlie Eron partnered with Max Phelps (of Cynic and Defeated Sanity fame). The band released their self-titled EP in 2019, with bassistAlex Weber and drummer Anup Sastry rounding out the lineup at this point.

“Grand Mistakes is, along with 'Under a Georgia Sky,' one of the first songs I wrote on piano,” says singer-songwriter Rob. “I am excited to see what Nomadic fans think of it! It is probably a little different to the singles we have put out so far. And I hope it moves and inspires people in different ways. It is really a song that captures the essence of the fact that we learn and grow from our greatest mistakes. And also, if we choose to, we can stop family trauma and repeat mistakes from continuing in a vicious cycle."

He adds, "This is a song that addresses the theme of conflict, reconciliation and learning from mistakes. for most of my professional life, I have worked in situations of conflict, including Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, and Israel and Palestine. I have often paused to reflect on the damage such conflict does, not only on those who directly participate, but the trauma that gets passed on, to families from generation to generation. That is, more or less, the theme of Grand Mistakes!"

Australian guitarist and singer/songwriter Robert Gaylard brings a unique perspective and vision when it comes to creating music. His inspiration and passion for starting The Nomadic began early on as a child after traveling to many countries like Myanmar (formerly Burma), Singapore and the Solomon Islands. His “nomadic” lifestyle continued on into his adulthood when he began to work for the United Nations in various countries such as: Kenya, Somalia, the Sudan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Israel and Palestine. His travels eventually brought him to New York in September of 2012 and motivated him to pursue his songwriting by establishing an indie rock band.

In the year 2019, Rob took a one-year leave of absence from the UN to follow his musical passion and focus specifically on songwriting and live performance. The Nomadic released its debut single "Drifting" in September of 2019, "Waiting" was released in April of 2020; "Beyond Blue" and "Manhattan View" in June; "Walk the Streets" in October; and "Jeannie" in January 2021. These were followed up by "Skaterpark," in February 2021 and "Under a Georgia Sky" in June 2021. “Grand Mistakes”released December 3, 2021, and the single "My Mind is Racing" will be released on 28 January 2022, accompanied by the album of the same name.

Influenced by artists like Oasis, Radiohead, The Verve, Bruce Springsteen, Phosphorescent, The War on Drugs, Arizona and The 1975, The Nomadic produces a sound genre like no other as alternative rock meets blues with hints of Americana and pop.

BELPHEGOR was founded in 1993 and spread like a virus within the underground. Meanwhile, their Bloodbath In Paradise demo has become legendary and paved the baleful path into the souls of thousands of listeners. Anti-religious with nihilistic tendencies as well as provocative topics, BELPHEGOR moved on. The debut album The Last Supper (1995) let the community of followers and opponents grow. Inexorably, the band pushes their destructive ways forward in the following years. BELPHEGOR become louder, more obsessed, and more dynamic, and their albums now have cult status. To think about the scene doesn't work without thinking of BELPHEGOR. In 2008, the band sent their followers to the edge of hell with Bondage Goat Zombie and sparked an all-consuming death metal fire with blasting black metal influences. This masterpiece, inspired by the Marquis de Sade, is one of the most demanding works the genre has offered to this day. BELPHEGOR showed themselves equally brutal and baleful on the successors Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn (2009) and Blood Magick Necromance (2011). The band received a lot of great feedback for their intense live performances as well and reached out to a big and loyal fan base. Their obscure rituals full of diabolical magick have haunted the world several times – next to extensive tours through Asia and Europe, BELPHEGOR has also completed eleven tours through North America and hundreds of open airs.

The Story of September's Monsters:

September Mourning is a human-reaper hybrid, who feels the need to give good human souls a second chance at life, sparking an epic battle between the living and the dead.

Fate, the world's creator and ruler of Mortem (the land of the dead), has sent it's reapers after September to stop her. Stitch is one of those reapers. He is also the master of space and time, which he uses to fight her by fragmenting the existing timeline into 6000 separate timelines... each with it's own unique looking September. September wakes up in each timeline within the Monster Rehab with the monsters looking down at her, angry and hungry for her soul. Fate has taken all of theirs and told them to destroy her.

The Details

SEPTEMBER'S MONSTERS is a collaboration between The Monster Rehab and September Mourning. These worlds combine in a 6000 piece NFT drop. "I see my life in terms of music”

A powerful quote by the renowned genius Albert Einstein. This holds true for 14 year old Drummer and Progressive Rock songwriter Thomas Thunder. Barely in his teens, this young musician from Southern New England is here to prove that children can not only perform as a musician, but be a successful songwriter as well. With his intricate Progressive Rock songs that include odd time signatures and unique instrumentation he has captured the attention of fans as well as professional musicians.

Thomas began his journey as a musician when he started drum lessons at age five. He started playing in a performance band by age eight at School of Rock, and it was there that Thomas was inspired to start songwriting himself. At age 10 years old, Thomas released his first single, and he was awarded a prize in the Eventide Theater Songwriting competition. Thomas has also been featured on the British Prog Rock blog, participated in radio and Podcast interviews, and landed the cover of American Pride Magazine. He also has achieved three Number One hits on the independent music chart The Fabchart.

His love of Progressive Rock bands like Sons of Apollo, Dream Theater and Tool permeate his songwriting. In fact, Thomas grabbed the attention of the ‘King of Keyboards’ Derek Sherinian (Sons of Apollo member; ex Dream Theater; Alice Cooper, etc) with his songs. Thomas has written several songs that feature one of his musical idols Derek Sherinian on keyboards. Not only has Derek contributed to Thomas’ songs but has produced them as well.

This superstar collaboration has solidified for Thomas to continue on the path as a musician and songwriter. Becoming a professional musician, performing live, and Prog Rock songwriting are his musical goals. Since age 12, his original music is published on all streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple and Amazon. Thomas also is a member of the high IQ society Mensa.

THE OLD DEAD TREE's latest album 'The End' was released in 2020 via Season of Mist.

This new EP was already written in 1999, a few days before the tragic loss of drummer Frédéric Guillemot and demonstrates the true doom roots of THE OLD DEAD TREE.

Since its inception in 1997 by Manuel Munoz (vocals, guitars) and Nicolas Chevrollier (guitars), THE OLD DEAD TREE always stood apart in the current European metal scene thanks to its unique musical identity: a style which combines extreme metal and dark rock / pop with exceptional vocals, gliding from one style to the next.

By 1999, this was already clearly evident, when Frédéric Guillemot (drums) and Vincent Danhier (bass) decided to join and secure the line-up. The press and fans enthusiastically praised and welcomed the band’s first self-release: the demo EP "The Blossom".

This promising debut took a sudden tragic turn, when Frédéric Guillemot committed suicide just a few months later. The band members were inspired to exorcise the dramatic loss of their close friend by expressing the darkest feelings and frustration this trauma provoked in a new concept album. The result was “The Nameless Disease”, produced by Andy Classen (LEGION OF THE DAMNED, DEW SCENTED, DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER, DISBELIEF, GRAVEWORM…) and mastered by Goran Finberg (IN FLAMES, OPETH, DIMMU BORGIR…), an album which carried a powerful, aggressive and modern sound. In 2002, the band signed a deal with Season of Mist which finally gave Frédéric’s epic eulogy a proper release. THE OLD DEAD TREE performed several shows and toured at various festivals for the record, with the likes of OPETH, KATATONIA and PARADISE LOST.

Franck Métayer, on the drums since 1999, decided to leave in 2004 in order to devote himself to his personal life. He was replaced by Foued Moukid whose debut performance with the THE OLD DEAD TREE appeared on the 2005 album, “The Perpetual Motion”. The band played at several high profile festivals over the summer of 2005 to promote the album’s release, including Summer Darkness (NL) and Fury Fest (FR) alongside SLAYER, ANTHRAX, MEGADETH, LACUNA COIL, NEUROSIS and SOILWORK.

Sophomore album “The Perpetual Motion” was fully produced by Andy Classen at the Stage One Studio (Germany) and the collaboration proved to be particularly successful. The album received raving reviews late summer 2005. Throughout the fall and winter of that year, THE OLD DEAD TREE hit the road with Dutch gothic metallers EPICA for a full European tour, and performed several shows as headliners in France and the Benelux.

After several more shows, the band members started working on their third album early 2007. The recording sessions and the whole mixing and mastering process took place in June at the Stage One Studio, once again with irreplaceable producer Andy Classen. THE OLD DEAD TREE gave birth to their new album “The Water Fields”. Short after the release, Foued Moukid left the band to devote himself full-time to his other band ARKAN. He was replaced by Raphael Anthaume (PENUMBRA).

By the end of 2008, as THE OLD DEAD TREE was starting to work on a fourth album, some disagreements started to grow within the band, regarding commitment and musical direction. Those differences of opinions soon turned out to be a dead-end problem and led Manuel Munoz to make the decision of ending the band's activities...
In 2013, in order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of “The Nameless Disease”, Manuel, Nicolas, Gilles and Raphael reunited performing the album in its entirety on a series of live shows, including Hellfest.

With this final chapter, the band is closing their career by paying one last tribute to their long-lost friend, who disappeared 20 years ago. The End…Again.

Scottish dream-music icon ROBIN GUTHRIE presents new 'Riviera' EP, ending 2021 with 3 new releases

Following the October release of his 'Mockingbird Love' EP and the November release of his full-length album 'Pearldiving' (his first album in nine years) comes another unique release by legendary Scottish music sculptor Robin Guthrie - the 4-track 'Riviera' EP, a collection completed earlier this year..

The 'Riviera' EP is available on limited-edition CD and as a digital download via Soleil Après Minuit with distribution in North America via Darla and in Europe by Cargo.

'Riviera' stands on its own as a release, apart from the album, featuring Guthrie’s ever present signature sound and atmosphere, displaying a refinement and maturity only found in the work of an artist working largely unfettered from the constraints of the music industry.

His approach to music is perhaps more akin to that of a painter or a photographer. The adept use of light and shade, melody and counter melody, the carefully and precisely arranged instrumentation, musical textures and colorings gives his music a depth and level of detail which marks a master craftsman.

“I made this collection earlier this year while taking a break from recording 'Pearldiving'. I found a common thread among several unfinished tunes, that curiously, they had all been written on the southern shore of some landmass or other in the northern hemisphere. I was pleasantly surprised when they all fell into place together and retained this atmosphere in my head,” says Guthrie.

Earlier, he shared, “After 'Another Flower', released just a few days before the untimely passing of my friend and co-conspirator Harold Budd, I felt the need to break my studio down and build it up again afresh to clear my head."

40 years on from founding Cocteau Twins, Robin Guthrie has certainly been its most prolific member, offering a steady and stellar stream of material over the years. His film scores include Gregg Araki's ‘Mysterious Skin’ and ‘White Bird in a Blizzard’, co-written with longtime collaborator Harold Budd. His many other collaborators include John Foxx, Mark Gardener, Telefon Tel-Aviv, Eraldo Bernocchi and Jay Jay Johanson.

Guthrie’s more recent credits as a producer and remixer include Resplandor, Ummagma, Fawns of Love, Hatchie, Jack Colwell, Tamaryn and Heligoland, whose new Guthrie-produced single 'Don't Fall In Love With Me' has also just released.

As of December 10th, 'Riviera' will be available on CD, as well as digitally on all major platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, where it can already be obtained directly from Guthrie himself.

Palisades Release New Music Video "My Consequences" via Rise Records

New Jersey rock powerhouse Palisades are back with a vengeance and has today released their new single and music video "My Consequences" (via Rise Records). After weathering life's storms of losing loved ones and band lineup changes, "My Consequences" is the first track with their new singer (formerly bassist) Brandon Elgar. Often lost in the past two years of the coronavirus pandemic are the nuances that “normal” life brings. Trials, traumas, loves, and losses were all still present, even if ignored.

This is something that New Jersey rock outfit Palisades are all too familiar with, the band – vocalist/bassist Brandon Elgar, guitarists Xavier Adames and Matthew Marshall, and drummer Aaron Rosa – having been forced to contend with everything from line-up changes to the death of loved ones. The change in the band’s lineup saw frontman Lou Miceli exit and vocalist/bassist Brandon Elgar step up on sole vocals. The move has allowed Palisades to hone in on the passion, swagger, and raw talent of their new frontman, whose cathartic presence is the perfect muse for their emotive songs.

“Scarred” is an emotional journey into the depths of addiction, how it affects relationships and how it can become an unhealthy relationship in its own right. It features a guitar solo by Justus Hajas, a 17 year-old Tik Tok sensation. With movie samples, a pulsating, irresistible beat and a prog influence, ‘Scarred’ blends Polychuck's eclectic influences into one scintillating performance.

An optimistic ode to resilience and perseverance, “Lay a Claim” expands the scope of Polychuck's never-ending creativity. When asked how the new material on the EP differs from his previously released material, Polychuck replied, “Those were the 2 songs that originally didn’t make the cut because of their darker, more aggressive sound. These are the heavier tracks that were written and recorded at the same time as the other ones on the EP.”

And concerning what made him decide to issue an EP rather than waiting to include the material on a full-length, he explained, “I needed to close the chapter about ‘Shadows Exposed’ - songs about mental health, introspection and self-inquiry. This whole episode has been a lot of self-discovery especially the music writing aspect.”

What about Polychuck’s future plans? “Now that I’ve explored many facets of songwriting, I’m consolidating my identity as a composer and I am working on a full length ‘concept rock’ album.”

KUOLEMANLAAKSO Announce New Album 'Kuusumu' - Release First Single/Video "Katkeruuden malja"

The Finnish death-doom spearhead Kuolemanlaakso, starring vocalist Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow the Sun), are about to release their first album in eight years. The band’s third full-length, 'Kuusumu', was co-produced, mixed, mastered, and engineered by Triptykonand Dark Fortress guitarist V. Santura, with whom the band has worked on all of their releases. Kuusumu will be released in 2022 via Svart Records.

“The recording break stretched unforgivably long, but in doom, there’s no rush. It was great to get back to business with the guys and have the opportunity to invite a couple of old friends to help us out, too. Kuusumu’s keyboards were produced and co-arranged by Aleksi Munter (Swallow the Sun, Insomnium, Ghost Brigade), and Lotta Ruutiainen(Luna Kills) did some amazing singing on a couple of tracks. In my humble opinion we took many steps forward on 'Kuusumu'”, says guitarist-songwriter Laakso.

On Kuusumu, Kuolemanlaakso stretch their artistic boundaries even further. The album contains the trademark Kuolemanlaakso heaviness, but also more bombastic, fast, and meticulously arranged material. The first single, "Katkeruuden malja" (featuring Lotta Ruutiainen), represents the catchier and lighter side of the album.

“'Katkeruuden malja' draws its inspiration from grief and misery. Musically it’s almost tripping in the landscapes of recent day Tribulation, but with melancholic and Kalevala-infused melodic influences, that sound very Finnish to me. The music video sort of mixes and matches the frost theme of the album with the color palette of the cover artwork.” states Laakso.

Kuusumu will be released in 2022 and can be pre-ordered via the Svart Records webstore. The first digital single, "Katkeruuden malja", is out now via all digital/streaming platforms.

Kuusumu's texts are loosely based on the sudden global cooling that began in 535, leading to a 10-year long winter, loss of crops, famine, and mass deaths of cattle and other animals. The climate change was most likely caused by massive volcanic eruptions, the fog of which darkened the sun for 1,5 years, causing loss of light and intolerable coldness. Moreover, the bubonic plague that began in the Byzantine Empire in 541 swept across Europe, killing tens of millions of people during the climate crisis.

“I see our previous releases as autumn albums, so this time we decided to make a winter album. I came across some literature about the catastrophic events by chance, and got immensely inspired by them – especially the contemporary writings of the 530–540 era. It didn’t take long for me to write the album after that. It’s spine-chilling to ponder that a deadly climate change and a pandemic raged also 1,500 years ago when medical knowledge, information flow, and living conditions were in their infancy. And there was no electricity, of course. People thought that they have angered the gods and the darkness will last forever,” says Laakso.

Swedish-Australian indie pop outfit Tiny Fighter presents their new album 'Rewind', following the release of the lead single 'Rewind' with its relaxed sun-brazing video, was created by filmmaker Christian Rutegård, together with frontwoman Therese Karlsson.

For this album, Tiny Fighter worked with multi-Grammy award winning producer Thomas “Plec” Johansson (Opeth, Soilwork, Degrade), recording int at The Panic Room Studio in Skövde and Stockholm, Sweden.

Formed in 2017, Tiny Fighter grew from a collaboration between Therese Karlsson(a truck driver from Kalmar in the deep south of Sweden) and Tim Spelman (a doctor from the deep south of Australia), into a full band. They have released a string of singles and EPs, a live album, a remix collection and the full-length debut album 'Going Home'.

"Our new album is a more acoustic take on our songs that already exist, with the exception of one cover and a Swedish version of one of our songs. It has been fun looking into our own rearview mirror and now bringing some of our songs to light once more with an acoustic touch. So for this album, we are Rewinding time and, at the same time, we look forward to seeing what lies ahead of us," says Therese Karlsson.

"Usually I receive the music from Tim, so first I get particular feelings from the music and that feeling turns into words and, in the end, it becomes a story. The lyrics are inspired by other people, their life stories or my own inner feelings or observations about society. This 'Rewind' album sees a mix of all of that."

After racking up 1 million views on YouTube, over 700,000 Spotify streams and successful tours through the US, Canada and Europe, Sweden’s Tiny Fighter were poised for a small but significant slice of world domination. Then came COVID, effectively putting the brakes on the whole machine. Faced with an extended period of no touring, a fan-campaign led by a collection of locked-down Tiny Fighter supporters began to follow-up the band’s celebrated 'Loft Sessions (Live in New York)' album. The problem – there was no live music, much less any touring. The solution – record a completely new record combining brand new songs with re-interpretations of some of their fan-favourites. Thus, the 'Rewind' album was born.

Different times call for different methods. The 'Rewind' recording sessions saw the band bring in an absolute sack full of new instruments, including mandolins, dobro, trumpets, flugelhorns, pedal steel and drum machines. In perhaps what is their most Scandinavian moment to date, Tiny Fighter recorded vocals in the studio sauna (arguably on account of the excellent sound-proofing and bonus warmth.

Tim Spelman comments, "This record represents somewhat of a departure from our previous pop-rock based releases, with a heavier reliance on acoustic instruments and bringing in new layers including brass, mandolins, pedal steel and drum machines. The pop is still there, but it’s more intimate and stripped back – that’s why we recorded the vocals in our sauna".

On December 3, the 'Rewind' album will be released via Bay Terrace Records and will be available everywhere, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

Shedding light on the incredible lives of gang chiefs and shady personalities of the criminal underworld, the podcast deals with the dark side of humanity - and HANGMAN'S CHAIR managed to artfully portray this dark atmosphere and put this into music.

HANGMAN'S CHAIR, formed in 2005 in Paris, is one of the most unique sounding Doom Rock bands currently active. Through the years, they have found and fine-tuned their own sonic brand, somewhere at the crossroads between Type O Negative, Life Of Agony, and Sisters of Mercy, to name a few, mixed with certain street credibility connected to the group’s roots in hardcore. Each album takes its strength and essence from the band members’ life experiences, which they portrait with unflinching honesty. Ahead of releasing their 'New Future' album, NYC-based funk art collective Loud Apartment release their new single 'Rebellion' featuring alternative music-turned-dancehall icon Garrison Hawk, perhaps best known as a long-term collaborator of Tricky and Sly & Robbie, among other notable artists. In November, Loud Apartment released the lead track 'Technology'.

Their unique NYC fusion of funk, soul and rock with Latin, reggae, dub and hip hop influences is inspired by growing up on the old upper west side. Influenced by such artists as Parliament-Funkadelic, Miles Davis, Santana, Gil Scott Heron, Mongo Santamaria and Ray Barretto, their sound embodies the intersection of culture that is New York City, loose enough to give room for improvisation and extended grooves.

'New Future' is the band's third long-player, produced by legendary bassist / producer Bill Laswell at Orange Music in West Orange, New Jersey, following their aptly titled 'System Breakdown' LP, also produced by Laswell.

Created by musician and technologist Nevaris A.C. (voice, percussion, keyboards), the band's current lineup also includes Bill Laswell on bass, turntablist DJ Logic, multi-instrumentalist Peter Apfelbaum (flute/sax), guitarist Will Bernard and drummer Lockatron.

"The album looks to the future with hope but not in a naive way. There’s a lot of trouble in the world right now especially with regards to the environment and human rights. It’s an urgent plea for radical change and a different world. A new future," says Nevaris A.C.

'New Future' is an album that presents the sound of New York Fusion - a blend of sounds that have Funk as a core ingredient. Largely influenced by music from the '70s and early '80s, this is actually a modern sound that pays respect to the music of New York. For this release, Bill Laswell created three Dub mixes from the tracks, which were designed as the second side of the vinyl pressing. These mixes create a sonic landscape reflecting on the themes of 'Technology', 'Rebellion' and 'Rhythm and Rhyme'.

This new release follows the band's aptly titled 'System Breakdown' LP, also produced by Bill Laswell and created at Orange Music in West Orange, New Jersey.

The band debuted in 2012 with their 'Get Up Get Down' LP, mixed by Bill Laswell and featuring Bernie Worrell (P-Funk, Talking Heads), who also appeared with them for several live performances in NYC. In 2019, Nevaris approached Bill Laswell about working with him and drummer Lockatron. From the first time playing together in the studio the new project took off.

As of December 2, 'Technology' will be available via Bandcamp and is also being offered as an instant grat download upon ordering the full 'New Future' album. On December 10, this long-player will be released digitally across platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
