Reveal Postponed Tour Dates

"Acoustic Adventures - Volume One"
for 2022

Finnish melodic metal titans SONATA ARCTICA are a band with a unique sound, driven by different emotions and a touch of melancholy. Today, the band announces the new release date of their first acoustic album, perfectly entitled "Acoustic Adventures - Volume One", to be released on January, 21st 2022. Also the panned acoustic tour had to be postponed into next year and will start in October 2022.

“Despite the circumstances slowly getting better, we will, unfortunately, have to postpone our 'Acoustic Adventures European Tour' that was supposed to happen this fall. This is not a light decision by any means but right now we cannot go forward with the tour as planned. However we will be back in 2022, postponed doesn’t mean canceled. Our 'Acoustic Adventures Vol. One' album will also be released a few months later than originally planned but rest assured, it will be worth the wait. We’re really looking forward to getting out there again and play for you all, rather sooner than later. Meanwhile, take care", says keyboard player Henrik “Henkka” Klingenberg.

"This acoustic form of SONATA ARCTICA has been slowly brewing for years", comments vocalist Tony Kakko and explains: "The first manifestation of it, besides the few acoustic versions of songs released throughout the years, was the 'Acoustic Adventures Tour' in 2019, which proved to be a great success, sparking an idea to get these songs also recorded and out on an album. Or two albums, at least for starters. Our songs have always been based on beautiful melodies, which makes it very easy to transform and rearrange them perfectly into the acoustic form as well. I should mention that many of the songs work so well dressed in acoustic garments."

Acoustic Adventures - Volume One will be the first part, followed by a second acoustic record, to be released in October 2022. "I hope you love these albums as much as we do. There are many, many songs we had to leave out of these 'Volume One' and 'Volume Two' albums, so nothing would please me more than adding few more volumes in the future", says vocalist Tony Kakko.

The postponed tour is going to happen in autumn 2022 now, entitled the "Acoustic Adventures MMXXII" tour. To promote both Acoustic Adventures releases, the band will embark on a journey through 17 European countries! Support will be provided by Swedish hopefuls ELEINE, who will also be presenting an acoustic set.

Employed To Serve Release "The Mistake"

NEW ALBUM CONQUERING OUT SEPTEMBER 17 VIA SPINEFARM

Employed To Serve have released the brand new song "The Mistake." Listen here.

"The Mistake" is the third single from the forthcoming album Conquering, out September 17 via Spinefarm.

Guitarist/vocalist Sammy Urwin says, "'The Mistake' is about letting other people's opinions of you seep into your subconscious and filling you with self-doubt. In life, you can't always win over everyone. But don't let the haters stifle your true potential and stand in between you and your goals."

Drawing influence from the music of their youth and a new perspective on how to nurture the positive aspects of humanity and individual growth, Conquering is a celebration and acknowledgement of triumph in the face of a world that can be relentlessly adversarial.

Employed to Serve began recording Conquering in the "unforgiving winter" of 2020. It was produced and mixed by Lewis Johns at The Ranch, Southampton and mastered by Grant Berry at Fader Mastering. ETS took the time thrown at them by a world stopped still to write their most visceral material to date.

Pre-orders are live with an instant download of "Exist," "Mark Of The Grave," and "The Mistake" — plus special bundle options including t-shirts, hoodies, shorts, skateboards, and limited color variant vinyl.

ABOUT EMPLOYED TO SERVE:

Employe to Serve's origins are essentially humble, with the core duo of Justine Jones (vocals) and Sammy Urwin (guitar/vocals) initially starting the band as a two-piece grindcore project backed by a drum machine. Early experiences on the UK festival scene expanded their horizons and perceptions of what weightier music could be. Seeing heavy-hitters such as Converge, Meshuggah, and Glassjaw alongside smaller but no less important acts like Rolo Tomassi, Veils, and The Chariot inspired the duo to develop their vision. 2014's Change Nothing Regret Everything EP operated as a stepping stone into full band territory, before 2015's critically acclaimed debut album, Greyer Than You Remember, became their calling card, followed up two years later by The Warmth of a Dying Sun, then their 2019 Spinefarm debut Eternal Forward Motion.

Employed to Serve have already proved themselves as a searingly intense and honest live experience, sharing bills with the cream of the crop of modern heavy music, including Code Orange, Bury Tomorrow, Stick To Your Guns, Loathe, Counterparts, and Underoath. They’ve also decimated stages at some of the UK and Europe's leading music festivals, the likes of Download, Glastonbury, Graspop, and Hellfest. And the accolades are unstoppable; from their Kerrang! Album of the Year win back in 2017, achieving the assumed impossible with a KKKKKK (yes, that is 6 K's!) live review, landing in Metal Hamme'’s reader and staff Top 10 Album polls, and a 2020 sold-out Underworld performance, to a plethora of cover features across Music Week, Metro Weekend, Upset, and Kerrang!, Employed to Serve are unflinching at the forefront of metal innovation.

Bullet For My Valentine Release" Shatter" Video

SEVENTH STUDIO ALBUM BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE OUT OCTOBER 22 2021 VIA SPINEFARM/SEARCH & DESTROY

PRE-ORDER HERE

Bullet For My Valentine have released "Shatter," the third single from their forthcoming self-titled album Bullet For My Valentine, and it's another absolute rager.

Watch the video for "Shatter" below

"We're very excited for you all to hear our new track 'Shatter,'" the band says. "It's one of our personal favorites and we're pretty sure it'll be one of yours. It's an absolute sledgehammer of a track with riffs for days. Let the head banging commence!"

The visualiser for "Shatter" is a visceral and instinctive moment in the new Bullet visual era. For this project, frontman Matt Tuck collaborated with creative director Fiona Garden and her husband, artist Ben Ashton.

Using tactile optical elements, smashing endless panes of glass, and getting covered in oily black paint, Tuck worked hands-on with Garden and Ashton to create a physical mood that was both "cavernous and claustrophobic."

Fiona Garden adds, "These hypnotic abstract visuals were then fed into the fearsome and instinctive creative machine behind 'Knives' and 'Parasite': editor Sara Faulkner and VFX artist Gabriel Thomas Ayache. The clip features, as always, the design edge of Carl Addy (ulcerboy.)"

Bullet For My Valentine will be released October 22 via Spinefarm/Search & Destroy.

"I think it's the most ferocious side of Bullet For My Valentine that I've ever known," says lead guitarist Michael "Padge" Paget. "It's time for us to put out a really angry, heavy, aggressive record. I just can't wait to grimace on stage!"

Tuck began writing the album in September 2019 before the coronavirus pandemic brought things screeching to a halt in early 2020. But in June 2020, Tuck and longtime producer, Carl Bown, who co-produced the band's 2015 album, Venom, and produced and mixed Gravity, picked up the pace again. Together, they hunkered down at Treehouse Studio in Chesterfield, where the remainder of the album was written.

Pre-orders for Bullet For My Valentine's seventh studio album are now live, which include an instant download of singles "Knives," "Parasite," and "Shatter," are available here.

Special bundle options are available, including a unique clipping from the backdrop used on the bands Venom world tour from 2015-2017, t-shirts, hoodies, gold and silver cassettes, and limited vinyl.

Bullet For My Valentine recently made history by headlining the Download Festival Pilot event at Donington Park just last month. Kerrang! summed their performance up perfectly, saying, "Sharp, slick, and with every shredding solo sounding immense, they nail a full-stop onto the weekend with confidence and power."

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE ARE:

Matt Tuck — Vocals + Rhythm Guitar

Michael "Padge" Paget — Lead Guitar

Jamie Mathias — Bass

Jason Bowld — Drums

Psychedelic indie artist KEELEY shares 'Never Here Always There’ live in Dublin

"Incredibly talented and unique... in a universe of less brilliant stars. Keeley is certainly a refreshing discovery" ~ Big Takeover Magazine (New York)

"Fantastic... bold and unique approach to music of our new favourite Irish band... bridging the decades in this timeless sound" ~ Spill Magazine (Toronto)

"Takes all the best parts of British music in the 1990’s and grants it a second breath in the New Twenties" ~ Moths and Giraffes (London)

"A thrilling headrush... a band whose intrigue grows the more you discover about them” ~ Even The Stars (Manchester)

"As much of a blast from the past as it is poised to anchor many of this summer’s playlists" ~ Global Texan Chronicles (Germany)

"Dreamy and psychedelic, at times high energy and at times melancholic, but always pensive, always with a mission... elements of Tamaryn, Lush, Ride, Medicine, Slowdive and Men I Trust" ~ Amplify Music Magazine (Toronto)

Dublin-based indie pop artist Keeley presents the live performance of 'Never Here Always There', recorded at the Workman's Club as part of the Dublin Quays Festival, playing in support of their debut 'Brave Warrior' EP, recently released via Dimple Discs.

Dimple Discs is a London label with deep Irish music connections. Founded in 2018 by The Undertones' Damian O'Neill and former Stereolab publicist Brian O'Neill, it has grown to encompass such artists as Cathal Coughlan (The Fatima Mansions, Microdisney), Eileen Gogan, Kev Hopper, Dragon Welding, Nick Haeffner, Telefis, Baby Shakes and SACK.

Keeley also recently shared the video for 'You Never Made It That Far - a beautiful downtempo, trip hop, electro indie track that is the darkest cut from the EP. This follows from lead track 'The Glitter and The Glue' and singles 'Last Words' and 'Never Here Always There', which have received airplay in over 40 countries including multiple spins on BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq show, play on SiriusXM in the USA (including legendary DJ Rodney Bingenheimer’s show) and has reached #1 on the Radio Indie Alliance Chart, a coalition over a hundred radio stations broadcasting on four continents.

For the past five years, Keeley has been publishing 'The Keeley Chronicles' blog, dedicated to the harrowing and mystifying case of murdered German tourist Inga-Maria Hauser in 1988. Working closely with Northern Irish police, senior politicians and Inga’s legal representatives in Northern Ireland to advance and resolve this notorious case, she is keeping the memory of this beautiful and mysterious soul alive.

'Brave Warrior' is now available everywhere online, including Spotify and Bandcamp. Keeley is already recording her next album (out in 2022) at Darklands Audio in Dublin, where Fontaines D.C. also recorded their first album.

On October 13, Keeley performs as headliner at Whelan's Main Room for the first time in 2021 with support from label-mate Dragon Welding (The Wolfounds' Andy Golding).

mail-143.jpeg

Perhaps best known as the frontman of South London indie pop / power pop outfit Bromide, Simon Bromide (aka Simon Berridge) has announced he will be releasing a solo album 'Following The Moon' in late autumn via Scratchy Recordswith distribution by Cargo Records. Ahead of this, he presents the lead track 'The Waiting Room'.

"The song is about the things that didn’t happen for one reason or another,” says Simon Berridge, “Simple twists of fate or just stepping back from the edge.. in particular the lyrics refer to a letter proposing marriage sent to my mother many years ago. The letter never arrived and the sender presumed the lack of a reply was his answer. Things were different back then.. as it says in the song 'The Postal Service Saved My Life’".

This is essentially a solo album - with a lot of help. It was recorded at Bark Studios in Walthamstow by Brian O’Shaughnessy (Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, Beth Orton), who had worked with Berridge on the last two Bromide albums. The album features drummer Fells Guilherme (Children of The Pope), bassist Ed ‘Cosmo’ Wright, multi-instrumentalists Dave Hale, Dimitri Ntontis and Stephen Elwell, as well as folk-pop chanteuse Katy Carr on piano and Terry Edwards (Nick Cave, Tom Waits, P.J.Harvey) on trumpet. Scottish singer Julie Anne McCambridge joins Simon on the closing track, the William Blake penned 'Earth's Answer'.

This is Berridge's first output since Bromide's 'Ancient Rome' and 'I'll Never Learn' singles, both released in 2020. Their most recent album 'I Woke Up', with singles 'Magic Coins' and 'Two Song Slot', was met with popular acclaim, receiving positive reviews and airplay in dozens of countries.

Influenced equally by The Beatles, Neil Young, Mark Eitzel and Bob Mould, Simon Berridge creates ultra-catchy, jangly acoustic pop / electric rock. All songs are rooted in the acoustic guitar and then fleshed out with bass, drums, electric guitar and whatever seemed to fit the songs - hammond organ, piano, mellotron and brass.

Writing songs since he was 16, Simon Berridge has gone through many band line-ups in his decades-long music career with moods shifting a few times - from acoustic Neil Young-ish stuff to more full on Husker Du-style noise pop and back again. Since founding Bromide in 1996, the band has released six albums via London-based Scratchy Records.

"This album was born out of frequenting open mics and in particular the longest running wednesday night acoustic club in South-East London called ‘The Easycome’ - and it’s Monday night sing-a-round off-shoot at the Old Dispensary in Camberwell. Both run by the notorious ‘Andy Hankdog’, the club has seen many pass through its doors – David Gray, Florence (Welch) Machine, Shingai from the Noisettes and more recently The Fat White Family and a host of luminaries from the burgeoning ‘South-East London scene’ – Goat Girl, Pre-Goblin, Misty Miller," says Simon Berridge.

"Playing at these nights has taught me a lot about playing at these nights! It’s introduced me to some fine musicians – a lot of whom ended up on the record – and it’s given me some of the most memorable nights of my life."

As of October 15, Simon Bromide's 'The Waiting Room' will be released everywhere digitally. His 'Following The Moon' LP will be released on November 19 on vinyl and digitally. The single can be pre-saved on Spotify and pre-ordered at https://smarturl.it/simonbromidenewsingl.

"Best of all is the New Order/Bunnymen-esque ‘Far From Home’. In another dimension, it’s a huge hit, and its two authors finally get their deserved houses overlooking the bay with the sports cars in the drive, before O’Neill inevitably overdoes it in a Paris bathtub" ~ HotPress

"A rich and mature sound.. melodies and harmonies that soar assuredly, building on solid orchestration, resonating" ~ Big Takeover Magazine (New York)

"'Strips back New Order's 'Crystal' to portray a fragile character... more New Order at sunrise than at sunset" ~ Travellers Tunes (UK)

Irish underground music icons David Long and Shane O'Neill present 'Moll & Zeis', their debut album as a duo, along with videos for the title track and 'Earth Moves'.

The long-player includes 11 gorgeous offerings from these legacy artists. Having fronted successful 1980’s post-punk / indie rock bands Into Paradise and Blue In Heaven, respectively, together they have created some genuinely invigorating new music.

Over the past few months, the duo have built up anticipation for the release internationally by releasing two stunning EPs - 'Dreams Come' and 'Far From Home', both of which has garnered the duo excellent reviews and radio play in dozens of countries.

The 'Moll & Zeis' album was recorded remotely during the lockdown with varied themes, including It has a song based on Hermann Hesse’s book 'The Painter', one about a refugee who prefers to walk the roads alone, some existential musings on life, several instrumentals, and another about the death of an American airman in Afghanistan.

"We wanted to make an album that could and should be listened to all the way through. It was an equal collaboration, Shane and myself have known each other so long that there was never a problem editing each other if something didn't fit with the song. We had no time restrictions, or release dates to go by, so we took our time with this album and thought about every aspect of it," says David Long.

David Long was the face of 1980s band Into Paradise, who released two albums and several EP’s on legendary British independent label Setanta Records and also one major - Ensign. Their most successful album was their major record label debut, the Adrian Borland-produced 'Churchtown'.

Shane O’Neill fronted Blue In Heaven, who released several singles and demos (including one produced by U2's The Edge) before signing to Island Records in 1985. Their debut album 'All The Gods Men' was produced by Martin Hannett (Joy Division, Magazine, New Order, OMD, Happy Mondays). 1986 brought the 'Explicit Material' LP, produced by Island Records head Chris Blackwell and Eric Thorngren. Their popularity grew as they did the live circuit with U2, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Damned and New Order. The band later reformed in 1990 as The Blue Angels.

Growing up in Dublin, Long and O'Neill have known each other since they were 6 or 7, when they knocked over Shane’s TV set, fighting over which channel to watch. Their first band was a trio called amuse with David on bass and vocals, Shane on guitar, and Dave Clarke (Warren Zevon, now Hothouse Flowers) on drums. After splitting and doing their separate thing, around 1996 they recorded an album as Supernaut.

As of September 10, the 'Moll & Zeis' EP will be available across online platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where their two recently-released EPs can also be found.

THE AGONIST to Release Brand New EP, “Days Before The World Wept”, on October 15

Pre-Order HERE via Napalm Records

Watch the Music Video for New Track “Remnants In Time” below

Canadian extreme melodic death metal juggernaut THE AGONIST took the world by storm with the release of their bludgeoning 2019 full-length, Orphans – garnering fantastic critical acclaim and even a revered Juno nomination. With that undeniable skill in tow, THE AGONIST takes another bold step in their musical and lyrical progression with Days Before The World Wept, a brand new EP out October 15, 2021 via Napalm Records!

Inspired by real life experiences, Days Before The World Wept explores a grim, conceptual tale of greed, gluttony, confusion, pain, redemption and hope enveloped in a new level of aggression and cohesive, technical prowess.

Get a taste of the band’s newest music today by watching the music video for brand new single, “Remnants In Time”! The death metal burner brings non-stop energy throughout, showcasing Psarakis’ multifaceted vocal attack as she nails searing highs, guttural lows and magical clean passages. Just like the track itself, its haunting, conceptual music video’s imagery blends emotive and eerie imagery throughout.

Frontwoman Vicky Psarakis says about “Remnants In Time” and its stunning video:

"‘Remnants in Time’ is the first chapter in this story. It marks the final moments of a person's life and the journey that begins right after.

We wanted the visuals to strongly reflect the lyrics and the concept behind them, and transforming me into a demon was key in that. I'm a huge fan of horror/sci-fi and makeup transformations, so working with a professional makeup artist and the use of prosthetics was the coolest part for me!

This song - and video - is all about extremes. Angelic and demonic, fragile and strong, delicate and aggressive. It embodies a lot of what THE AGONIST is about.”

Watch the official music video for “Remnants In Time”

Produced by Christian Donaldson (Beyond Creation, Cryptopsy, Despised Icon), Days Before The World Wept packs several albums worth of skill, songwriting prowess and melancholic lyrical mastery into just five tracks – leaving no stone unturned!

Opening track “Remnants In Time” begins ominously with ghostly piano lines performed by lead vocalist Vicky Psarakis before slamming into a double bass, one-woman choir explosion rife with needle-precision guitar work by deft guitarists Danny Marino and Pascal Jobin. The death metal burner brings non-stop energy throughout, showcasing Psarakis’ multifaceted vocal attack as she nails searing highs, guttural lows and magical clean passages in one fell swoop. The onslaught continues with the rhythmic soundscapes of cry for salvation “Immaculate Deception”, blending fast paced, aggressive verses with haunting, melodic choruses. “Resurrection” reaches into blackened territory before Psarakis splits it wide open – annihilating with her pinpointed vocal attack calling for rebirth. In addition to Psarakis, Marino and Jobin, dexterous drums from Simon McKay and the bass attack of Chris Kells lead the listener through metallic melodic passages topped with emotive poetry before breaking into the next track, “Feast On The Living”. It stands tall with rollercoaster clean and gritty vocals, rapid fire drums and blazingly precise guitar leads and solos, cementing the track as one of the most technically meticulous of the entire offering. Shifting into fifth gear, title track “Days Before The World Wept” brings it all home, beginning with a beckoning acoustic introduction before roaring in with intense blastbeats, polyrhythms and bellowing screams. THE AGONIST pulls out all the stops, showcasing their chops in all directions with breakneck instrumentation and staggeringly superb vocal approaches. Soaring through a kaleidoscope of blistering metal mastery and hopeful lyrical dramatism, the opus dominates as one of the most impressive works of the band’s catalog.

Psarakis adds about Days Before The World Wept:

“There's a lot I could say about this EP and its importance to the band, but does it matter? Obviously, this is the part where I tell you these are the best songs we've put out to date. Honestly - it's a journey. You're either gonna reach the end and want to relive it or you're not... and that's okay. Let the music speak for itself.”

OUT NOW via OX4 SOUND: THE GORSTEY LEA STREET CHOIR 'Up With the Larks'

"Diverse, talented and melodic, the Gorstey boys ensure that you’ll never experience a dull moment in this 8-track album and will likely be thankful for the experience. Thrills sonic pills and heartfelt delivery" ~ Spill Magazine

"Psychedelic delight that will bring you to a state of bliss or trigger flashbacks to brilliant musical offerings of yesteryear... Superb musical mastery, fascinating dynamics and professionalism in production" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Pleading, swirling Powerpop that clearly references the heroic Pop of the 80’s with a contemporary bent' ~ Fresh On The Net

"A ridiculously talented duo... sublime" ~ Egg Box Essentials

"Fantastic, creating a landscape of sonic adrenaline-powered dream-rock bliss... somewhere between Ride’s Carnival of Light, Kula Shaker and Ocean Colour Scene. Somewhere we’re happy to be taken" ~ The Record Stache

The Gorstey Lea Street Choir are Michael Clapham and Russ Phillips, two friends whose musical collaboration is rooted in a friendship that blossomed over 35 years ago. Having met in the mid-'80s, it took until 2016 for them to realize their teenage plans - discussed back when both were involved in aspiring Manchester bands - with the birth of this project.

Their music runs with the moods, widely described as dystopian, electric, hopeful, hopeless and thoughtful... The sort of sounds Henry Spencer would have played if he had a Sony Walkman. The album explores such themes as being isolation, lack of communication, escapism and Carpe Diem frustration.

Recorded at the Gorstey Shack and Magic Garden Studios in Wolverhampton with producer Gavin Monaghan (Robert Plant, Editors, Ocean Colour Scene, Scott Matthews, Squeeze, Goldblade), this album was mastered by RIDE's Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound Studio in Oxford. Tracks 5-8 were mixed by George Shilling and re-imagined by Choque Hosein of Black Star Liner.

'... from Prince's Park to Farsley - Volume I' is a tale of two towns, conceived and mainly recorded in Burntwood with 4 songs re-imagined in Farsley. 'Prince's Park'in Burntwood, Staffordshire (the Gorstey boys' hometown) is the starting point in this journey, registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the UK's smallest park. Farsley, Yorkshire is where Choque Hosein is based... you can hear his genius on 4 tracks here.

‘…from Prince’s Park to Farsley - Volume I’ is the follow up to the duo's ‘extended play one’ album, which was released in December 2020 and received support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, and a whole host of DAB and worldwide radio stations.

In 2018, Russ and Michael entered Wolverhampton's Magic Garden studios to work with old friend and producer legend Gavin Monaghan, resulting in their debut single 'The British Isles' featuring an inspired spoken-word intro from Joe Strummer. Chris Hawkins from BBC Radio 6 Music picked up on the track, kicking things off again after a 35-year hiatus.

'...from Prince's Park to Farsley - Volume I' LP is now available everywhere digitally, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp.

OUT NOW via OX4 SOUND: THE KUNDALINI GENIE 'Half In, Half Out' single

"Wholesome. So I was bound to love them... it’s all a reverie anyway, one you don’t want to wake up from" ~ More Fuzz

"Mesmerizing... hypnotically pushes with fiery guitar cycles, shadowy bass line, muffled drum thumps, and dispassionately droning vocals... The Kundalini Genie deliver solid melody, hooks and tides of effects-pedal-induced mayhem" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Some of the best psych rock music currently being made anywhere. The kind whose ripping tunes do a number on your head and afterwards leaves you thanking them" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"A glowing tangent of slow tripping beats, packed into kaleidoscopic soundscapes of synths, guitars and fuzzy vocals... could be an ode to the lurching ‘stoner blues’ heyday of the 90s, like Craig Nicholls, Richard Ashcroft and John Squire in bed together with fresh sheets on" ~ Urbanista Magazine

"A psychedelic rock‘n’roll band unlike any other. Spaced out drones, druggy melodies, a hammering rhythmic section and an eccentric, high octane frontman leading the charge" ~ It's Psychedelic Baby Magazine

mail-141.jpeg

Scottish psychedelic rock’n’roll outfit The Kundalini Genie has announced they will release their fifth studio album 'Half In, Half Out' by the end of 2021, following up their '11:11' album via Space Ranch Records (Europe) and Little Cloud Records (USA) in 2020. Ahead of this, they present the title track 'Half In, Half Out', a powerful offering to whet our appetites for the long-player.

The Kundalini Genie is focused around singer-songwriter Robbie Wilson (sitar, guitar, vocals) and also involves Jason Houston (guitar, vocals), Melissa Rennie(guitar, keys, vocals), Lloyd Ledingham (bass, vocals), Louis Martin (guitar, vocals) and Grant Robertson (drums).

"This song is about assholes, really. People who aren’t nice. People who think they’re better than you, or too cool for you, or higher and mightier than you, it’s also about when those people inevitably fall short of their own high opinion of themselves and make themselves look a fool, in a nutshell," says Robbie Wilson.

This album was mixed by Jason Shaw (Cambodian Space Project, Frankie Teardrop, Sonic Jesus, Aerofall) and mastered by RIDE's Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound Studio in Oxford,.

"Robbie Wilson (Kundalini Genie) is a total force and a total star in the making . He’s so driven and I loved mastering his record," says Mark Gardener.

Emerging from the nether regions of Glasgow, The Kundalini Genie has been blowing minds globally with music characterised by droning hypnotic fuzz rock, 60’s British Invasion-inspired melodies, transcendental sitar, and dreamy, spaced out soundscapes.

Their sonic journey ranges across the spectrum of their own musical influences - The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spiritualized, The Dandy Warhols, The Warlocks, The Beatles, The 13th Floor Elevators, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Black Ryder and Black Market Karma.

When not tapping into the intense space-gaze elements of Spiritualized, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Swervedriver, sauntering hypnotic guitars stride steadily forward as the sitar floats along, carrying the subconscious into a benevolent flow and inner journey.

With live shows involving eclectic displays of voodoo mojo and sound that ripples through the audience like a sonic tranquilizer, to date the band has performed in support of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Warlocks, The Underground Youth, The Myrrors, The Stevenson Ranch Davidians, Triptides, New Candysand Spindrift, in addition to participation in numerous festivals.

As of September 8, the 'Half In, Half Out' single will be available everywhere online, including Apple Music and Spotify. The full album is slated for release on November 12 digitally, on vinyl-style CD, and on aubergine-coloured 12" vinyl with reverse board artwork. It can be pre-ordered via Bandcamp.

TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” FEATURE DOC MAKES ITS WORLD PREMIERE AT THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH

“TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” FEATURE DOC MAKES ITS WORLD PREMIERE AT THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH

INTERNATIONAL RIGHTS HANDLED BY WAZABI FILMS

Banger Films, in association with Revolver Films, is proud to announce its latest feature, “TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE,” will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Directed by Banger Films’ Sam Dunn and Marc Ricciardelli, the documentary chronicles the career of the multi-gold and platinum-selling power rock band, Triumph, and is produced by Banger Films in association with Revolver Films, Bell Media’s Crave, Live Nation Productions, NBC Universal Canada, Slaight Communications Inc. and the Rogers Documentary Fund. “TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” will be released in Canada by Bell Media with international distribution rights represented by WaZabi Films.

Before Drake and The Weekend, there was a different set of Toronto musicians who rule the roost. Known simply as Triumph, this rock trio—which includes drummer/singer Gil Moore, singer/guitarist Rik Emmett, and bassist/keyboardist Mike Levine—dominated North American radio and MTV in the ‘80s with hits such as “Lay It On the Line,” “Hold On,” and “Magic Power.” Despite being one of the world’s biggest rock bands, the group split at the height of their fame and seemingly disappeared without explanation to their fans or media. Set to a mesmerizing visual backdrop of spandex, 80s hair, and explosive pyro, “TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” delivers a deeper story about fame and the human condition while chronicling the band’s reunion for what might be the very last time they play music together. (English, 97 minutes)

“The Triumph story was compelling to me, Marc, and the Banger team because it was an opportunity to piece together a broken puzzle,” says Sam Dunn. “We wanted to know how and why the band dissolved at the peak of their powers. We're thrilled to be returning to TIFF for the world premiere of this film!”

“Sam and Marc did an outstanding job documenting what it has been like to have been aboard the Triumph train for the past near-50 years,” raves Triumph bassist Mike Levine. “For fans old, new, and those to come in the future, this is all they’ll need to know about the band.”

“TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” premieres at TIFF on Friday, September 10th at 9:00p.m. ET at the RBC Lakeside Drive-In at Ontario Place, Toronto.

ARTIFAS Sign Endorsement Deal with MONSTER PRO AUDIO PRODUCTS

ARTIFAS have signed an endorsement deal with Vanco International, LLC the exclusive global licensee of MONSTER PRO AUDIO PRODUCTS.

"Since we began our journey in the music world, Monster Products has been a leader in the world of instrument/audio cables. Now we’re excited to announce that we’re beginning a new relationship with them as an official Brand Ambassador!!! We’re super grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to represent the Monster Audio name with pride" says the band.

Monster Products, a 40-year-old brand that is a global leader in manufacturing of high-performance guitar, instrument, speaker cables and more. Monster Cable is an indispensable component for music lovers, audiophiles, recording studios, sound professionals, and musicians. Monster's pro audio cables increase the clarity, dynamics and power of the audio signals so that the artists deliver the best sound possible.

“Vanco is excited to keep the Monster tradition alive by partnering with bands and musicians to showcase the quality of our industry leading Monster Pro Audio products. Monster has a long tradition of supporting artists over its 40 years of business, and as its exclusive global license partner for Pro Audio Products, we are thrilled to continue the tradition by signing Artifas on as an official Monster Brand Ambassador.” says Mike Manske, SVP of Global Sales at Vanco International, LLC.

American Hard Rock band Artifas was formed in 2011 in Jackson, TN by lead guitarist Cody Criswell and lead vocalist Scottie Somerville. In the months following, the two founders of the group would immediately recruit an assortment of hometown musicians and begin looking to record their debut EP. After having a long and ugly encounter that resulted in the theft of all the bands funds and receiving no album in return, the original incarnation of the group would spend 2012-2013 doing several independent tours and writing music. After debuting with their EP Enemy Inside in 2013 and doing numerous regional/national tours in support of it, the band replaced former members with guitarist Mikey Miller, bassist Anthony Mattox, and drummer Jared Wainscott.

With almost two years of touring with the new lineup under their belts, Artifas inked themselves a record deal and hit the studio to make their first full length album. The 2015 release of the title track, “Inhuman,” would bring the band some commercial success, reaching # 32 on Billboard’s Active Rock chart and sending the band on the road in support of their new album. The band landed tours with established artists like Theory of a DeadmanShamans HarvestPop EvilSaint AsoniaAranda, and others. The follow up single from that record, “Blood 4 Blood”, would later get picked up by the World Series of Fighting and subsequently land a feature in the UFC movie “Fight Valley”. The band parted ways with their record label in 2016, and remained on tour throughout the US for most of the following year, also traveling internationally for the first time with the likes of Papa RoachHoobastankP.O.D.Trapt, and Sick Puppies to play for our American Troops.

Multiple tour cycles later, Artifas found themselves back in the studio making new music. The band worked with multiple writers and producers throughout the entirety of 2018, but would ultimately only find themselves frustrated with the recordings that resulted. After a soul search within the group, Artifas elected to embrace their own vision and write/produce their next album independently, free from the creative overreach of outside influence.

After two years of writing, recording, and mixing, Artifas has completed the new album, and plans to unleash it upon the world. With catchy guitar riffs, dizzying drums, and soaring melodies, Reflections will send you on an emotional journey, exploring the band’s semi-prog, radio rock sound while diving deeper into the human complex with lyrics centered around self awareness and the bands own struggles with mental health. The goal for the creation of this album was to make a record that met the band’s expectations and you can rest assured they held nothing back. Mixed and Mastered by Forrester Savell (Twelve Foot Ninja, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus)Reflections promises to wow you with musical prowess, all the while delivering Artifas’ important message on unity, inspiration, and the sempiternal battle between dark and light.

DEVIANT PROCESS Premieres New Song via No Clean Singing

Canadian tech death rising stars DEVIANT PROCESS will be releasing their sophomore full-length, 'Nurture,' on October 15, 2021! The band has partnered up with No Clean Singing for the premiere of their third new single, Homo Homini Deus!"

“‘Homo Homini Deus!’ Probably one of the craziest pieces from 'Nurture,' it’s got hooks and headaches for days! Pre-orders for 'Nurture' are still open for all physical formats and merch items on the SOM store or our own Bandcamp for Canadian residents! Thanks for the support and have a good listening!”

Pre-orders are now live HERE.

Too often in metal, limits and boundaries are pushed at the expense of taste. Bands and fans alike can be found showering bursts of attention onto the latest hotshots redlining along at the fastest BPMs, at whose got the most unintelligibly guttural vocals, at who can generate the most indistinguishably chaotic guitar tone and/or how picture-perfect and sanitized rhythm sections can deliver their click-tracked wares. More often than not, all this comes at the expense of clarity, soul, groove and, most importantly, good songs. For Québec City’s Deviant Process, this sort of thing has been happening too much and for too long. And while the progressive tech-death quartet are tuned in to their surroundings, the band have made a conscious decision to drop out, but not before turning on those obsessed with the likes of classic Death, Cynic and Pestilence as well as contemporaries Obscura, Beyond Creation and Fractal Universe with Nurture, their second full-length and first for Season of Mist.

“We aren’t the kind of band where it’s ‘showing off first, music second,’” exclaims guitarist/vocalist Jean-Daniel Villeneuve. “We want to have great compositions with solid ideas and structures. We want the listener to be able to sing the song, to be able to remember every passage and every riff, not just thinking, ‘Oh my god, I’m surrounded by 11,000 notes a second.’ We didn’t want to check tech-death boxes about what BPM we needed to have blast beats at, using the same amps this big band used or how much shredding we needed to include. We don’t want to be a band that’s only about achievements in technical ability. We want great music and that’s been our goal since the beginning.”

“The container is more important than the contents,” guitarist Stéphane Simard sums up. “We take time to have really good structures first before adding all the harmonies, melodies and musicianship stuff.”

Deviant Process’ history goes back to 2008 with Villeneuve kicking out the one-man symphonic black metal jams under the guise of Psychic Pain. A self-produced demo caught the attention of fellow axe-swinger and musical soul mate, Simard, who together with bassist Pierre-Luc Beaulieu and drummer Olivier Genest, completed the band’s original lineup. In 2011, the foursome recorded two-track debut EP Narcissistic Rage after a common bond led to a shift in musical direction.

"Psychic Pain was a solo project,” remembers Villeneuve, “and when Steph and I came together, more brutal and technical death metal was the common ground between the two of us. So, we decided to go that way because that’s more how we thought about music together and it fit better.”

Following the release of Narcissistic Rage, Deviant Process honed their chops on local stages, opening for the likes of Cryptopsy and Revocation, and in rehearsal rooms, delving deeper into the ways and means of expanding technical death metal beyond jaw-dropping tempos and flashy fretboard finger gymnastics. Replacing Genest with drummer Antoine Baril (who produced and engineered Narcissistic Rage) introduced broader rhythmic elements to the new material, everything from rock-solid four-on-the-floor heavy metal pounding to side-winding jazz and hi-brow classical percussion. In the summer of 2013, the band entered Baril’s Hemisphere Studio with the help of Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Beneath the Massacre, Ingested, Ophidian I) to capture what would become debut album, Paroxysm. To say their first full-length endeavor was a challenge is an understatement. During what ended up being a three-year operation, François Fortin took over both production and drumming duties, production work shifted studio locations from Hemisphere to La Boîte Noire, and the insanely busy Baril (who also plays in Augury, From Dying Suns and Contemplator and owns the studio in which Paroxysm was recorded) made the decision to leave the band during the mixing process. By the production had been completed, bassist/lyricist Philippe Cimon replaced Beaulieu.

Deviant Process may have been bruised and battered by the end of the process, but they emerged stronger, more intent and focused, with a new lease on life, a solid lineup (drummer Francois C. Fortin replaced Michel Bélanger, who had stepped up after Baril left) and Paroxysm which was initially released by recently shuttered Canadian label, PRC Music. Paroxysm was supported by slots opening for the likes of Archspire, First Fragment, Beyond Creation and Gorod. But it was a mini-tour in the band’s home province opening for Gorguts and Dysrhythmia in 2017 that brought them to the attention of Season of Mist. The band and label felt each other out, went into negotiations and finalized a deal in 2018.

“We were a really small band with an album released on a really small label when [SoM label boss] Michael [Berberian] approached us…” begins Simard.

“…He said that some people in the US office told him about the band and the album,” finishes Villeneuve. “He liked it, made a proposal for the next album and then sent a contract. I still don’t know who told him about us, but that’s the story, as dull as it is!”

This brings us to the present and forthcoming second album, Nurture. Its seven songs (and one cover, of Obliveon’s “Cybervoid”) are an expansive marvel of not just technical death metal maturity, but the seamless inclusion of foreign elements like the tribal fusion middle-eight in “In Worship, In Blood,” the almost free-jazz chaos that introduces and drives “Emergence,” the Latin-folk-meets-British-prog acoustic flourishes in “Syrtis Magna” and tinges of ‘90s Rush weaved into the complex firestorm of “Asynchronous.” It’s a record that the guitar-slinging duo said they officially started working on in the autumn of 2017, so as to take advantage of the opportunity afforded to them by their new label, but one in which the material harkens back to 2008 as the band has been unafraid to dip into its extensive riff bank for the meticulously perfect idea that’ll connect this and that, old with new, brutal and delicate, and balls out with brains out.

“We know when it’s too much and are always thinking about what’s best for the song,” Villeneuve explains. “Some people might want to hear a million notes in a song, but sometimes all you need is a riff with two power chords that will stick in your head. But, we’ve also been known to spend a complete week working on a three-second transition…”

“…Or throwing out a couple minutes of music we’ve worked on because it doesn’t fit with the parts before or after it,” says Simard.

Nurture bobs and weaves like the sonic manifestation of a worryingly tall and fantastically ripped mathematics/quantum physics double-major who spends nights crunching noses and ear cartilage after spending days crunching numbers and calculating the size of the universe. Tidal layers of barbarous guitars engage in a baroque convergence/divergence dance and are bounced off prominent, fusion-inspired bass playing. The drumming stops and spins on a dime from ambient sparseness to clogging every artery of space while Villeneuve unleashes an insanely unholy barrage of black metal screams, death metal growls and full-throated, muscular bellowing, everything being put on display throughout dizzying album centerpiece “The Blessings of Annihilation Infinite.”

“On Nurture, we took a different direction during the writing,” the vocalist says, “to make it more articulate and instrumental. Death metal wasn’t our only guideline for writing music or even what we enjoy; we like jazz, old prog from the ‘70s, classical and we want to play the well-crafted music that we want to hear.”

Thematically, Nurture uses veiled lyrical references and far-reaching metaphors in the exploration of human experience commonalities. What’s being referenced may not be blatantly or entirely revealed, but spend enough time parsing and decoding Philippe Cimon’s lyrics and it’s clear that even if the dude is living in a perpetual game of 3-D chess, he empathizes with what we’re all dealing with and understands where we’re all coming from and where we’re all going.

Says the bassist: “There isn’t a central theme for the lyrics on Nurture. The songs were written over a certain period of time and different themes are explored. A common aspect to every song is the use of esoteric or mythological references to express a relation to a certain theme, be it substance abuse, trauma and its consequences, faith, solitude, or man’s lust for power. However, the themes are sometimes brought up in a way that is very unclear and lets the reader make up his own explanation of the text.”

“There’s no gory stuff or anything typically death metal in our lyrics,” adds Villeneuve. “Our goal is to have the listener be able to associate a lyrical idea to a song. We want the listener to create their own feeling and meaning for the songs. It’s an album where people can really feel the vibe throughout the whole thing, not just from listening to one song. There’s an energy you can feel from our effort and there’s a flow that goes from beginning to the end, a journey that’s speaking in the music.”

With Season of Mist having their backs, Deviant Process has quickly been thrust into an unfamiliar world of having to select and settle on variant vinyl colors, conjure up multiple t-shirt designs, tend to contractual and legal matters, PR responsibilities, out-of-province and international communication and all that fun behind-the-scenes business stuff. The band is still adjusting to industry demands and encountering stressful situations they hadn’t thought of, assumed they’d ever have to consider or even know existed. Ironically, what’s brought them to this point is their own boundless and borderless take on extreme metal. They may be “a small band that wants to be not small,” and Nurture has helped them get their collective foot in the door to a world populated by the stable of bands they blasted while growing up and still blast today when time away from rewriting the rules of technical death metal permit.

“All of my favorite bands since I was young seemed to be signed to Season of Mist,” laughs Simard, “so we are very appreciative of having the opportunity to be on the same label as our idols. We’re still getting used to what we have to do when we’re not playing our instruments…”

“…But we want to go against the grain,” says Villeneuve, again finishing his counterpart’s thought. “We don’t want to just fit in the tech-death box; we want to include anything that opens more possibilities, even if we’re just boring people from a small city in Québec that like and want to play really good music!”
