Bullet For My Valentine have released "Parasite," the second single from their recently announced self-titled album Bullet For My Valentine.

"For 'Parasite,' we just wanted to let the song rip," says director Fiona Garden. "The intensity and fury of the track tears along, pure performance and vitality. Along the way, in a world defined by blinding light and the phenomenal graphic work of artist Carl Addy, we see this new infinite incarnation of the avatar aM cuts being ritualistically infected and drawn further into limitless oblivion. No locusts were harmed in the making of this video."

The Guardian called the first single, "Knives," a "sonic onslaught," adding that it displayed "gymnastic guitar riffs, snarling vocals, and more drum hits in four minutes than across most albums." Rock Sound concurred, calling it "a vicious and violent slab of ferocious modern metal," while Metal Hammer commented, "BFMV are back in the form of their lives." Revolver deemed it a "razor-edged ripper" while Loudwire stated that the band has "more than delivered in regards to brutality and technicality."

But where "Knives" arrived like a punch in the face, "Parasite" is here to disembowel.

The band comments, "'Parasite' is an absolute RAGER from start to finish!!! Easily one of the gnarliest tracks we've ever written — we couldn't be more stoked to finally get it out there."

Bullet For My Valentine will be released on October 22 via Spinefarm /Search & Destroy.

"I think it's the most ferocious side of Bullet For My Valentine that I've ever known," says lead guitarist Michael "Padge" Paget. "It's time for us to put out a really angry, heavy, aggressive record. I just can't wait to grimace on stage!"

Frontman and guitarist Matt Tuck began writing the album in September 2019 before the Coronavirus pandemic brought things screeching to a halt in early 2020. But in June 2020, Tuck and long-time producer, Carl Bown, who co-produced the band's 2015 album, Venom, and produced and mixed Gravity, picked up the pace again. Together, they hunkered down at Treehouse Studio in Chesterfield, where the remainder of the album was written.

Bullet For My Valentine follows the success of their last album, 2018's Gravity, which saw the metal juggernauts' catalogue surpass 1 BILLION (yes, with a B!) streams in the U.S. That accomplishment solidifies Bullet's hard-earned status as one of the most elite bands in the hard rock scene.

British rock legends Thunder have announced the release of the expanded edition of their 13th studio album, ‘All The Right Noises’ on 24th September 2021 on BMG. It follows on from the album’s original release earlier this year, which saw the band maintain their incredible chart run by achieving a No.3 Album; as well as rave reviews: ‘A classy tour de force of songwriting prowess and pacey execution’ – Classic Rock, ‘Riotous rock and roll’ – Press Association, ‘Carries on the legacy of great rock songs’ – Fireworks.

The brand new expanded edition will feature a DVD of the ‘Thunder TV Special’, which is extended here to include extra songs not broadcast when it was streamed back in March. Recorded in February and originally broadcast as a streamed event, the TV Special was in answer to the postponement of their arena tour from 2021 to 2022. Well known for their energetic live shows, the concept of playing a mock live show with no audience didn't sit well with Thunder, as the fans are always such a huge part of the energy in their shows. The solution was to film a TV style performance, in the mood of the Old Grey Whistle Test or Later… with Jools Holland, with an audience joining them in real time via Zoom. And so the Thunder TV Special was born.

Filmed at Siyan Studios in High Wycombe, the webcast of this unique performance was streamed for 48 hours on the weekend of the album’s release. The show was comprised of a set list of almost all the tunes from the new album, plus some of their biggest hits, a Zoom Q&A with fan club members, and set changes from plugged in electric to sit down acoustic. The 90 minute set was a runaway hit with Thunder fans all over the globe. Classic Rock said of it ‘Thunder are in prime form, obviously loving performing again, and throughout they accentuate the special in this TV special’.

Thunder founders Danny Bowes and Luke Morley will also embark on a UK Tour in November 2021. The shows will be based around the bandmates’ new book ‘Danny & Luke – The First 50 Years (1971-2021)’, which is released in September, and tell their story from when they first met at secondary school to achieving success with Thunder, and right up to present day.

Iconic post-punk band Pink Turns Blue has announced that their new album 'Tainted' will be released in autumn on limited edition vinyl, CD and digitally via Orden Records.

Ahead of that, they present their new single 'You Still Mean Too Much To Me', following up lead singles 'There Must Be So Much More' and 'So Why Not Save The World'.

Pink Turns Blue is Mic Jogwer (vocals, guitar), Reubi Walter (bass, keyboards) and Paul Richter (drums). Inspired by Joy Division, The Sound and The Chameleons, Pink Turns Blue plays alternative rock heavily influenced by 80s post-punk and new wave.

This album is the result of time well spent this past lockdown year writing, recording, mixing and mastering the new album in their Berlin recording studio. On ‘Tainted’, the band added an electronic element to their classical vocals, guitar, bass and drums. The album title itself relates to the state of our world: climate change, its effects, the reaction to it, the split within society, isolation, health risks and financial uncertainty.

"How to overcome the grief / pain of lost love, torn between hate, very bad feelings and, at the same time, not being able to let go at all. As there is no understanding why you fall in love with someone in the first place, there is also no reason / understanding  why love does end or your love of life starts to feel attracted to someone else. It all dissolves into nothingness," says Mic Jogwer.

"Some melodies and moods just call for certain sad themes and touch old wounds that never seem to heal. Normally love stories don’t seem to have a connection to me and my life. But then, when I find a sad melody with some sad chords it all gets stirred up and comes to life. Maybe love really never ends."

Among the first generation of gothic rock in Germany, Pink Turns Blue formed in 1985, originally as a duo consisting of Mic Jogwer and Thomas Elbern, plus a drum machine. Naming themselves after a Hüsker Dü song, their sound was initially inspired by The Chameleons, Clan of Xymox, and The Cure.

Their debut album 'Two Worlds Kiss' brought dark undertones into their new wave sound, essentially advancing the darkwave sub-genre while becoming a seminal album in the post-punk genre. Amidst fear and uncertainty in a divided Germany during the Cold War era, the band longed for a more romantic element. They went on to release eleven full-length LPs, the latest one being 'The AERDT – Untold Stories' in 2016 via Orden Records.

As of July 30, 'You Still Mean Too Much To Me' will be released everywhere online, including Apple Music and Spotify. The 'Tainted' LP will be released on September 24. It will be available digitally and in two physical formats - a CD with a 16-page booklet and on black vinyl, strictly limted to 500 copies, with an 8-page booklet. Both can be pre-ordered exclusively via the band's website.

Style: Experimental Hardcore Sludge

Crushing insanity drips atmospherically out of every crack on 'Savigaila', experimenting with elements from hardcore, sludge, and black metal.

When ERDVE formed in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius in 2016, the band had a clear aesthetic vision of creating a unique heavy sound that experimented with elements from hardcore, sludge, and black metal – yet was not bound by any unwritten “rules” surrounding those genres. ERDVE’s members had already been active in their local scene and performed in various acts such as NYKSTA, SRAIGĖS EFEKTAS, and SPIRALE. A self-made tape version of their debut made its rounds in underground circles and the Lithuanians received the rare honour of being picked straight out of the dreaded demo pile by virtue of their musical strength and compelling quality.

The core ideas behind ERDVE are translated into lyrics, visuals, and sound by in-depth reflection on concepts such as domestic violence, utmost disgusting behaviour, crimes against humanity, and extremism. Their debut album 'Vaitojimas', released in 2018 by Season of Mist, delivered exactely that!

The new offering 'Savigaila', which translates as "self-pity", revolves around overcoming the numbness within the great challenges of unsettling reality, and accepting them as they are. Regret, envy, self-regard, love, care and togetherness. From completely understandable to the most unreasonable sense. This idea is turned into melodies, rhythm, and sound by ERDVE on the bands upcoming sophomore album.

But make no mistake, ERDVE successfully transformed these melodies into a new unnerving experience on how THEY perceive life and with 'Savigaila', you may find that enjoying life, can be entirely implausible...

THE DEAD DAISIES SERVE UP A TOUR LIKE NO OTHER, DISHING OUT A FEAST OF ROCK MUSIC & COMEDY

As the world slowly comes out of lockdown, rock group THE DEAD DAISIES blast out of the gates with the LIKE NO OTHER tour which takes in 20-dates across the United States. These shows will be Like No Other featuring The Dead Daisies, comedian Don Jamieson and Rock & Roll trio The Black Moods.

The Tour will kick off in style on September 10th at the APOLLO Theater in Rockford Illinois and will play a series of theatres and synonymous rock venues across the country. Each show will deliver an essential dose of undiluted rock featuring the dueling guitars of Doug Aldrich and David Lowy, the monstrous beats of drummer Tommy Clufetos and featuring the “Voice of Rock '' himself, Glenn Hughes.

Don Jamieson is an Emmy Award Winner known as one of the hosts of VH1’s That Metal Talk Show. The Black Moods hail from Tempe, Arizona playing raw amplified Rock & Roll, described as fiery and the very definition of ‘swagger’. Their latest single “Sunshine” hit the Top 20 Billboard Active Rock charts.

EX DEO returns with more massive, brutal soundscapes than ever on The Thirteen Years Of Nero! The Canadian unit is led by founding frontman Maurizio Iacono (Kataklysm) and producer/guitarist Jean-François Dagenais (Kataklysm, Misery Index, Despised Icon), with the stylings of Stephane Barbe (Kataklysm) on lead guitar, Jeramie Kling (Venom Inc.) on drums, Dano Apekian (Ashes of Eden) on bass and Clemens Wijers (Carach Angren, Lindemann) manning the intense orchestral score.

UNION BLACK Release Music Video for "What's On Your Mind" Cover

Melodic Metal Tribute Band UNION BLACK is the newest project from current Gruesomeand former Malevolent Creation drummer Gus Rios. Yesterday, the band released their first single, covering the hit track from American new-wave icons Information Society, "What's On Your Mind". For the music video, the band partnered with Metal Insider on the premiere, which can be found here.

Speaking about the band's cover of "What's On Your Mind", Gus Rios shares:

"I've had this idea floating around for over fifteen years. Insert a global pandemic, over a year off from practically any musical activity, almost dying from COVID...and I finally made it happen! For our cover of 'What's On Your Mind' by Information Society, I was simply humming the verse melody in my head one day and couldn't remember what song it was! Then it hit me and I thought 'man, this would make such a killer metal tune!'"

Rios goes on to add:

"I went into my studio and tracked the whole thing myself. Hector (Rios) added synths and I sent it off to Matt Laplant (Skindred, Nonpoint, Sikth) to mix and master. We couldn't be happier with the end result! The video was shot and directed by Ileana Frey of Blind Beast Productions. My concept was to have a visual contrast which to me is similar to what we do musically. One part brutal metal and one part beautiful melody."

About UNION BLACK:

UNION BLACK is the brainchild of current Gruesome and former Malevolent Creation drummer Gus Rios. Gus was a guitar player first before focusing on the drums so he's going back to his roots as the guitar player and singer for UNION BLACK. The band is rounded out by his brother Hector Rios on lead guitar, Sondra Hemmerick on bass and Ruston Grosse from death metal legends MASTER on drums. Post-punk outfit Creux Lies have announced that they will release their second full-length album 'Goodbye Divine' via Freakwave, a Berlin-based label that is part of the Schubert Music Europe group. Nearly a year in the making, fans can expect both arrivals and departures from what they may be expecting, as the band offers a complete range of emotions throughout this collection.

Their new album is preceded by the lead single 'Misunderstanding' - a dark, sexy, danceable track that demonstrates how the band became so beloved on the post-punk and cold wave scenes in just a short time.

Hailing from Sacramento, California, Creux Lies is Ean Clevenger (vocals, programming), Barry Crider (guitars, vocals), Kyle Vorst (bass), and David Wright (synth, drum programming), praised for their reverb-laden guitar work, creative synth structures, and dynamic vocals recalling the best from 80’s-early 90’s dark pop and post-punk.

"Misunderstanding emerged from part of this strange writing session/coping moment during the world shut down, awakened with this "whoa oh, oh oh" in my head from a dream and went to the computer just after dawn. As with many tracks on this latest album, my tentative register was landing a bit lower from trying to sing it out in the early morning hours. So, the profound moody thing resonated, and the song unfolded around my fingers on the synths," says Ean Clevenger.

"The Creux added some great additions during production and elevated this song to what it is today. Ironically, the lyrics and message behind the track illuminate a moment of clarity when the misunderstanding of a perspective actually reveals itself as absolute authenticity."

Their 2018 debut album 'The Hearth' (produced by Patrick Hills, recorded at Earthtone Studios and released via Cleopatra Records with 3 sold-out vinyl pressings) made quite a big impact on the international post-punk and cold wave scene, putting the four-piece on a trajectory that ultimately led to signing with Freakwave.

Apart from successful tours in North America and Europe, Creux Lies has shared the stage with the likes of The Soft Moon, Clan of Xymox, Drab Majesty, Soft Kill, Gene Loves Jezebel, ACTORS, Vowws and Twin Tribes, as well as performing at Absolution Fest, WGT, Murder of Crows NY and playing to a sold-out crowd at Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig.

Freakwave was formed in 2020 as part of a new international structure comprised of ten record labels established by Schubert Music Europe GmbH with international distribution by The Orchard. Focused on outstanding post-punk and cold wave artists, Freakwave offers a contemporary home with in-house connection to one of the world’s leading independent music publishers – Schubert Music Publishing. Headed by Eric Burton and Thomas Thyssen, Freakwave's holistic approach combines label, booking, promotion, publishing and management services.

As of July 23, 'Misunderstanding' will be available across streaming platforms like Spotify, as well as online stores such as Apple Music. The full 'Goodbye Divine' LP will be released on October 8.

BASTARÐUR Signs to Season of Mist, Shares New Album Details + First Single

Season of Mist are proud to announce the signing of BASTARÐUR, the crust punk project of Sólstafir singer/guitarist Aðalbjörn "Addi" Tryggvason! The band will be releasing its debut album, 'Satan's Loss of Son,' on October 29, 2021! The first single, "Viral Tumor," can be heard below. The track features guest guitar leads by Ragnar Zolberg and Thráinn Árni Baldvinsson as well as a bass solo from Flosi Þorgeirsson.

Tryggvason comments: "Four years after writing the first riff, two years after the main recording session, I am super happy to finally unleash this album into heavy metal land. It's a childhood dream come true to make a full blown hm-2 crushing metal album. One might say, my personal tribute to Entombed and Motörhead."

Singer/guitarist Aðalbjörn Tryggvason has always worn his vast musical influences on his sleeve. Be it an ENTOMBED sticker emblazoned on his guitar, queueing up Ennio Morricone before a set, or paying homage to Lemmy Kilmister with his cowboy sensibilities, it’s no secret that his love for music cannot be contained to any one genre. Now, Tryggvason is taking his adoration for crust punk to an exciting new level with his latest project, BASTARÐUR, which channels influences such as NAPALM DEATH, TERRORIZER, MOTÖRHEAD,and DISFEAR. 

“The idea of writing death metal in the vein of old ENTOMBED came in 2018,” Tryggvason says on the project’s inception. “Not being able to channel my love for such music through my main band [SÓLSTAFIR], I began writing riffs, and riffs became songs, and all the sudden it had more crust punk elements than I had foreseen.” And yet, despite the apparent departure from SÓLSTAFIR’s sound, Tryggvason’s signature voice and brief moments of atmospheric texture color the record in familiar shades that ring true to his core musical identity.  

The band was born during personal turmoil, a prime example of turning a negative situation into a positive opportunity. “Living with my parents after a relationship break up and being unemployed, I set up a small studio in my dad’s garage, and after a few months there was an album of material,” explains Tryggvason. “Me and my good mate Birgir Jónsson, most known for his work with Icelandic metal act DIMMA, had for years talked about making music together, and this seemed the perfect time, so we got ourselves into a studio with former SÓLSTAFIR live sound guy Jóhann and recorded the album in a few days.” 

Tryggvason tapped several other co-conspirators to contribute towards his vision. Guest vocals are attributed to Marc Grewe (MORGOTH/INSIDIOUS DISEASE) and Alan Averill (PRIMORIDIAL), the latter of whom also penned the lyrics on two of the album’s tracks. Some of the blistering guitar solos were handled by Ragnar Zolberg, whom SÓLSTAFIR fans may know as he has filled in on bass for the band during occasional live shows, and Thrainn from SKÁLMÖLD. “I dare to call them Hanneman/King of Iceland,” Tryggvason says of the talented pair of axmen.  

BASTARÐUR’s debut also takes a cue from Tryggvason’s distant musical past and rudimentary beginnings. “I used to be in a punk band called BÖLVUN, where I played drums,” he explains. “’Afturhalds Kommatittir’ is from that band, so we got Ingi Thor Pálsson and Flosi Þorgeirsson to play on that song. Flosi also does a bass solo on ‘Viral Tumor.’ 

Now, after three years in the making, BASTARÐUR is finally ready to make its debut via Season of Mist!

"Looking to Fight" is taken from Saul's debut full-length Rise As Equals, out now on Spinefarm. The album has already garnered 16 million streams and counting since its Fall 2020 release. The band also enjoyed its best-performing active rock radio song to date with "King of Misery."

Loudwire praised the band for crafting "punchy anthems with immediate sing-along choruses." Elsewhere, Cryptic Rock called Rise As Equals "a more than solid debut from a band whose name you need to know." Jeffrey Philip La Bar of Nashville, Tennessee passed away peacefully at the age of 58 on July 14, 2021. He was born on March 18, 1963 in Darby, Pennsylvania to June and Bob La Bar. Jeff grew up in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania and went to Upper Darby High School.

Inspired by his brother Jack to pick up the guitar, he joined the local rock band Cinderella, who rose to prominence in the late 1980s with a string of platinum selling albums. The group toured the world and had numerous charting songs and videos on MTV. Cinderella had an exceptionally strong fanbase in Japan, which was particularly special to Jeff as that’s where his mother June was born and raised. He would always take her and their family in Japan to the band’s shows there, a life highlight for both mother and son. As Jeff got older, a love of music shifted to a passion for the culinary arts, with his cooking inspired by June’s Japanese heritage. He would reinterpret dishes that were standards in the La Bar household and add a unique flair.

Following a move to Nashville in 2004, Jeff quickly surrounded himself with a community of dear friends who he loved to host and cook for at his home there. He never forgot his Delco roots though and stayed close with all those he grew up with in the region. While he became a bit of a fan of the Tennessee Titans when he moved to Nashville, Jeff’s number one sports franchises were in his hometown, number one being the Philadelphia Eagles, as he never missed the team’s games and would always text his dad Bob during them. He would always make time to talk to his mom for hours every Sunday on the phone, reminiscing and listening to stories about June’s days growing up in Japan. He planned on moving back to Delco as his parents got older, and his mother was excited to have him return with his cooking.

Jeff inspired many of his friends and family to get into music, notably his son and pride and joy, Sebastian. He was eternally proud of the man and musician his son became and looked forward to working on a music project with him. Sebastian visited his father in Nashville often and loved playing music with Jeff and hearing about adventures from the old days when he was on the road. An animal lover, Jeff rescued cats, spent time taking care of his fish and adored his cat Loki.

In addition to Sebastian, Jeff is survived by his wife and best friend Debinique, with whom he created an internet radio show ‘Late Night with the La Bars,’ his parents Bob and June, brothers Jack (Alice) and David (Victoria), sister Diane (Jason), sister-in-law Lisa and many nieces and nephews. Jeff was like a second father to his siblings Diane and David growing up. Although he had many admirers, Jeff was an even bigger fan of his family and friends, seeing the absolute best in everyone he met. Rarely was there a picture of Jeff without a smile on his face. Jeff was an incredibly loving human being and will be missed beyond measure. Immediate arrangements are private and a Celebration of Jeff's Life is being planned for close friends and family.

Montreal’s premier blackened death metallers are back with 'UNUS', the crushing and cinematic follow up to 2016’s 'Advent of the Human God'. With each record NECRONOMICON has created in the span of their 31-year career, the band has steadily evolved in both sound and power; 'UNUS' is no exception to this.

Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary grimoire, NECRONOMICON formed in 1988 by founding guitarist and singer Rob "The Witch" in the deep, northern part of Canadian province Quebec, Fjord of Saguenay. Since then, the band have carefully released each full-length without haste, allowing them to perfect every nuance before unleashing their sonic assaults upon the masses. In 2019, NECRONOMICON was presented with a certificate of honor for over 30 years of service via H.S. production/Tommy Tremblay, and the people of Saguenay Lac St Jean, making them the second band after VOIVOD to ever receive this honor.

'UNUS' is a searing cacophony of blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the orchestral prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres. Standout tracks like “Paradise Lost” and “Singularis Dominus” only solidify NECRONOMICON’s ability to continuously produce high quality metal that’s just as dark and brutal as it is elegant.

Death From Above 1979 (DFA), made up of Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler, announce the "Is 4 Lovers" North American tour with dates in March and April 2022. The duo are taking their fourth studio album, Is 4 Lovers (Universal Music Canada), hailed by NME as "their best album since their debut," out on the road.

Death From Above 1979 (DFA), the boundary pushing musical alliance created by Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Slovenian rock band XSKULL8 are set to release their new album From Sin To Sinners via Curtain Call Records on July 23, 2021.

Even though it's the first record under the name XSKULL8, the guys say it’s "apparent that it’s not our first. This is already a product that we fearlessly introduce ourselves with to the world music scene."

After the release of the last single "Leaves Are Falling" from the album, they note with enthusiasm that the song has caught on remarkably and they hope the same for the rest of the material. "Most of this has already been presented to our audience as singles, but we have some unheard ear-candy on the album," they promise.

The band adds, "Producer Matej Pečaver and the whole team really did their best. We worked on the songs for quite a few months before we went to the studio, so other things could run smoothly because each of us knew what was expected and how we were going to do it.”

The album is, according to front man Rokk, a kind of combination of their lives, experiences and different eras. "You can hear when we've been freshly single, when we've had a grudge and when we grew up just a little bit because the themes and lyrics have become more like that,” Rokk says. He adds that the album's title is exactly what it says, From Sin To Sinners. "First, there had to be a sin so that we could sin. Same goes for the law. If someone doesn't tell you something’s against the law, that it shouldn't be done, there's nothing wrong with doing it. The moment someone decides that it's kind of unacceptable, the same thing becomes something bad," he explains. With the release of the album, the guys are also happy to announce that they have a new record label. “We're really happy that Curtain Call Records have decided to sign with us. It's hard to say what exactly is going to change for us. Time will tell what our collaboration will bring, but the feelings are great. And I think the results are already showing. If nothing else, it was confirmation that we were doing well and a kick in the ass so we wouldn't stop.” That’s exactly what the guys are planning for in the future. "Don't stop. In fact, it depends a lot on the new label and the path we're going to take together, but one thing is clear. We're not stopping. We're moving on, we're working more and assume that we’re working better.”

UK black metal metal act Necronautical have released the video for "Necropsychonautics" from their upcoming fourth album Slain In The Spirit, out August 20 via Candlelight/Spinefarm.

Vocalist/guitarist Naut comments, "We are proud to unveil 'Necropsychonautics,' the second single and music video from our new record Slain in the Spirit. In this visual manifestation created by James 'Carcarrion' Goodwin and Courtney Sherives, we witness an individual fleeing an unnamed malevolence, testing the fabrics of reality and the limits of human consciousness. Necronautical have always been about exploring the darkness. Their very name means "to explore death." It's fitting, then, that on Slain In The Spirit, the Manchester band are pushing both their sound and their concept to the outer limits.

Since forming in 2010, Necronautical have become respected among the British black metal underground. Across three albums — 2014's Black Sea Misanthropy, 2016's The Endurance At Night and 2019's Candlelight Records debut Apotheosis — their sound has become one rich in its skill with the dark side of metal. Ambitious and grandiose in its symphonic touches, this velvet glove hides beneath it an aggressive iron fist.

On Slain In The Spirit, this is truer than ever.

Everything has been taken to a degree beyond where the band has trodden previously, with the symphonic elements swirling even more dizzyingly above a metallic attack that hits with an almost machine-like ferocity. So much so that the band have transcended black metal altogether.
