Harper Releases Debut Single "Falling"; Announces Signing to Pale Chord

10-year-old viral internet sensation, HARPER, has dropped her debut single, "Falling", today and announced singing with renowned independent label, Pale Chord in partnership with Rise Records. HARPER shot to internet stardom when she released an incredible one-take vocal cover of Spiritbox's breakout hit, "Holy Roller" in the summer of last year, clocking up 222,000 YouTube views and media accolades from the likes of Kerrang!, Loudwire, Rock Sound, Revolver and more. She gained millions of new fans when she auditioned for primetime NBC show, America's Got Talent with the same song last month, garnering a further 1.6 million YouTube views and wowing both the judges and the audience with her impressive vocal prowess. She also got to perform "Holy Roller" with Spiritbox at their sold-out show in London, UK last month. Now she has released her debut, original single written and produced with the help of Chris Wiseman(Shadow of Intent and Currents) and Ben Lumber (Acres). ABOUT HARPER

Being a musician at 10 years old is no easy feat, but only one year into her music career HARPER has already turned heads and made waves within the rock and metal music scene. Having first burst onto the scene in 2021 with her own rendition of ‘Holy Roller’ by Spiritbox, the cover put all eyes on Harper gaining 222,000+ views and approval from the band themselves. HARPER's video was shared worldwide garnering support from major media and fans alike.

Continuing to develop her craft HARPER found guidance from one of the most prominent vocal coaches in the metal scene Melissa Cross, working closely with her to develop and keep her voice healthy whilst working on her own material. Titans Of Creation was produced by Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson while Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios handled co-producing, recording and engineering. SET THE SUN Release Debut EP 'In Absentia' - Drop Music Video for New Single "The Way Back" (feat. TELLE & DJ Lethal)

SET THE SUN invites fans to experience the enigmatic duo's debut EP, In Absentia, which is out now on all major streaming platforms. Featuring previous singles "Invisible"and "New Condition", the band's first foray into modern alt-rock modalities is made possible through their frequent collaboration with a growing group of highly lauded fellow artists, who they refer to as "The Collective". This group includes names like Ryan Clark(Demon Hunter) & Michael Lessard (The Contortionist), who, respectively, contributed vocals on the previously mentioned tracks. The likes of Clint Lowery (Sevendust) and Keith Wallen (Breaking Benjamin) also lend their hand to composing tracks on the new EP. The artwork for 'In Absentia' was created by Ryan Clark of Demon Hunter.

Along with the release of 'In Absentia', SET THE SUN have unveiled their new single, "The Way Back", which features guest performances from TELLE (The Word Alive) & DJ Lethal (Limp Bizkit). The band has partnered with KNOTFEST to premiere the music video, which was directed by J.T. Ibanez.

Speaking about the new single, the band comments:

"The Way Back was written about the feeling that you've lost yourself - whether that's your passion, your confidence, or your reason to keep fighting, and remembering how life used to feel. The older you get, the more life throws at you and the more scars you accumulate,

and that can lead to feeling like a shadow of yourself. Sometimes you wish you could go back to a different version of yourself."

Going into details on how the song came to be, they add, "After we wrote most of the music, we decided to finish writing the song with Keith Wallen. And since the main riff gave us a Wes Borland vibe, we thought it would be cool to hear what DJ Lethal would do over top of it, so we hit him up; he experimented over a bunch of the track and then we picked our favorite bits and it sounds awesome & almost electronic. We were also able to get Producer/Composer Matt Lange to contribute to the production of the song. Finally, we wanted to have edgier vocals for the bridge, and we've always loved TELLE's voice & his screams, so we were delighted when we found out he had time to track it. And he absolutely nailed it and took things to the next level."

In addition to the standard release of In Absentia, a remix version of the EP will be released on August 12, 2022. Check out the previously released "Invisible" (ASTR0L4B3 R3M1X).

About SET THE SUN:

Alt-Rock outfit SET THE SUN are ready to unleash their debut EP after making their presence known last year. Comprised of two primary contributors, Arc & Eris, the American-Canadian duo will release the five-track offering, 'In Absentia', on July 8th, 2022. The record features the singles "Invisible" (feat. Ryan Clark) and "New Condition" (feat. Michael Lessard), along with the next lead single, "The Way Back" (feat. Telle & DJ Lethal).

"This EP was a bit of an unplanned detour," the band shares. "We had just finished recording our debut LP and COVID hit. Both of us were going through some difficult personal situations, so it felt natural to keep writing. We wanted to dive into those feelings of isolation, division, and immovable conflict. There's nothing more crippling than sources of pain we can't change or remedy. Futility is not a pretty thing."

Throughout their debut, STS enlists the contributions of numerous guest performers and collaborators. This group of peers, which the band calls "The Collective", has allowed the band to create songs that aren't confined to the boundaries of genre norms - and instead venture into a sprawling range of soundscapes and ideas.

"The demos for the first five songs came together very quickly, even though we wrote them remotely between Nashville and Toronto. Then we reached out to some members of The Collective - musicians we've long admired and respected who we knew could add a little something extra."

"We worked with composer/producer Matt Lange and Breaking Benjamin guitarist & vocalist Keith Wallen on 'The Way Back', and Clint Lowery from Sevendust on 'New Condition'. We then reached out to Ryan from Demon Hunter, TELLE from the Word Alive, Dj Lethal from Limp Bizkit, Michael Lessard from The Contortionist, and Thomas Freckleton from Silent Planet to feature on the tracks. They all added their own touch and it gave each song its own unique feel, so we're delighted with how it all turned out. There's a good mix of sadness, aggression, and eeriness that we feel will be a good introduction to Set the Sun. And there's much more to come."

LA-based singer-songwriter and Grammy-winning producer Rich Jacques has released his debut EP 'Everything Must Change', a 6-track collection that takes the listener through his soothing sonic world. He also revealed the video for the title track 'Everything Must Change'. Instantly accessible, this feels like an intimate conversation with an old friend. At the song’s heart is a sense of life-affirming gratitude and a wave of sonic love and appreciation.

The EP exhibits gentle majesty and lyrical poignancy; six new soundscapes to explore, making for one beautiful collection of music. Previously, Rich Jacques released the gorgeous and gentle tracks 'Montecito', 'Can You See it', and 'New Design'. This music is warm and honest in its understated charm.

Underlining the restraint from which Jacques fashions his deft and delicate music, the message here is clear as you journey through the music. Change is the only constant.

“This EP was mostly written and produced from 2020 to late 2021 right in the heart of the pandemic. A lot changed for myself, as it did for mostly everyone. It gave me a new perspective on what I was doing out of habit, and what really inspired me. The one thing that’s ultimately true in life is change. Whatever is happening, good or bad, it’s going to move on," says Rich Jacques.

The solitude of lockdown led him to reflect on his life, realizing that many of the fundamental choices he's made have been based on old habits. A health scare, a change of location and the chance to build his life anew and re-engage with the world, drop old habits and explore new inspirations saw him emerge from this period of his life a changed man. This new EP is the musical document of that period.

Producer, songwriter, guitarist and artist - Rich's envious set of skills has led him to work with a host of notable musicians and to create music for all manner of media projects. Since moving to LA twenty years ago, he's worked with such luminaries as Lisa Loeb, for which he won a Grammy in 2017, and Men at Work’s Colin Hay, his music also being featured in such iconic shows as 'Grey’s Anatomy', 'One Tree Hill' and 'The Vampire Diaries'.

Jacques cut his teeth in the late '90s as a member of Sire Records' alternative rock outfit Brownie Mary and was later a member of 80’s infused alt-pop band Right The Stars, who released three critically and commercially well-received albums. He is also one-half of the songwriting/production team Aalta.

This project as a solo artist comes from a very personal place. Unexpectedly, for someone who understands the art of big, instantaneous and infectious music, Jacques uses only a few core components (guitar and vocals) and few additional musical details to create wonderfully emotive, spacious and drifting music.

Fantastic Fest Presents “This is GWAR” Documentary Screenings Coming to Alamo Drafthouse

The long awaited and highly anticipated documentary “This is GWAR,” will be receiving a limited theatrical run at select Alamo Drafthouse locations in North America, prior to its on-demand release via Shudder. “This is GWAR,” had its world premiere in September 2021 at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX and these special screenings are being presented by Fantastic Fest as well. Showings begin July 16th and a complete list of locations can be found below. Tickets are on sale HERE. 

Members of GWAR will appear at two screenings of the film. Those screenings will be July 17th in Richmond, VA* and July 18th in Brooklyn, NY.

Bay Area masters of atmospheric technical death metal FALLUJAH have revealed the next single, "Embrace Oblivion," featuring Katie Thompson, from the band's eagerly awaited 5th studio album, "Empyrean," that's out September 9th via Nuclear Blast.

"Empyrean" is a specialist’s paradise. As a rhythm/lead player, Carstairs enters a league of his own. Tracks like “The Bitter Taste of Clarity,” “Radiant Ascension,” and “Eden’s Lament” illustrate he’s upped his chops and boosted the emotional outlay. Throughout, he’s careful about compositional placement and how his radiant, palliative leads complement Fallujah’s sapid landscape. Drummer Baird tastefully and aggressively holds down the fort, grooving and syncopating admirably on “Radiant Ascension,” “Embrace Oblivion,” and “Mindless Omnipotent Master.” Fallujah’s long-standing timekeeper has always been great, but on "Empyrean," he’s superior. Right there with him is recently joined bassist Evan Brewer, thundering and bopping on, around, and against Baird’s foundation like a seasoned prizefighter. “Duality of Intent” is but one of Brewer’s standouts. Although known for his guitar work outside of Fallujah, newcomer vocalist Kyle Schaefer’s low-end and mid-range bark perfectly matches the existential threat-themed lyrics.

Throughout "Empyrean," Fallujah surprise. Musically, lyrically, and with their bevy of guests, they add hard-to-describe depth and musical import. Vocalist Tori Letzler (Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice) reprises her angelic role on “Radiant Ascension” and “Artifacts,” while Chiasma’s Katie Thompson also reappears to elevate “Embrace Oblivion” and “Into the Eventide.” Chaney Crabb of Entheos and Cyborg Octopus’s David Wu tender their considerable talents on “Mindless Omnipotent Master” and “Duality of Intent,” respectively. Celebrated artist Peter Mohrbacher (Serenity in Murder, Rainbowdragoneyes) replays his role on "Empyrean" as well. Truly, this is an all-star cast appearing on a momentous album by a band reaching beyond.

Dance Gavin Dance Drop New Single "Die Another Day"; New Album 'Jackpot Juicer' Out July 29th Via Rise Records

Chart topping post-hardcore outfit, Dance Gavin Dance, have today dropped the third new single from their upcoming new album, 'Jackpot Juicer' (out July 29th via Rise Records). The new track, titled "Die Another Day" can be found on streaming platforms HERE .

Dance Gavin Dance announced the release of their brand new album, 'Jackpot Juicer', back in April. They have released two singles from the album so far - “Synergy” feat. Rob Damiani of Don Broco and “Pop Off”. Between them, the tracks have clocked up 8.5 million streams and 2.8 million YouTube views since release. One of Driven’s instantly memorable standouts, ‘Let Me Know’ finds Gilbert in reflective mood on a song that recalls the first decade of his career, in which he resisted serious relationships for fear that it might have an effect on his songwriting. “But I also like the idea of having a song in which the guy says to the girl, if your heart’s not in it anymore, don’t worry about me. I’ll be ok.”

‘Let Me Know’ is taken from Gilbert’s new album Driven, which follows his acclaimed Ethan Johns-produced, self-titled 2018 album which was awarded 4-stars in MOJO magazine. The thirteen songs that comprise Driven reveal a songwriter whose ability to sniff out hitherto undiscovered sources of low-hanging melodic fruit is keener than ever. Produced by Andy Wright and recorded with a live band at the legendary RAK studios, the unexpected velocity at which the songs came together bears testament to the instant chemistry generated between O’Sullivan, Wright and a house band featuring Pat Murdoch (Beyonce, Simply Red, Chrissie Hynde), Rich Milner (Morcheeba, James Morrison) and Geoff Holdroyde (Take That, Big Linda).

The album features duets with Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall on ‘Take Love’ and big fan and Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall on ‘Let Bygones Be Bygones’. Gilbert’s extraordinary ability for exploring the human condition is exemplified on ‘Hey Man’; on ‘Body and Mind’, we’re presented an adhesively catchy audit of blessings which takes the form of an internal dialogue about its protagonist’s lifetime lover. More topical issues are explored in ‘You and Me Babe’, where Gilbert juxtaposes the things that make our lives meaningful against the turbulence of the world at large, with a subtle reference to climate change. Whilst, framed by an exquisitely tender string arrangement, ‘If Only Love Had Ears’ is, by any metric, one of the most beautiful songs to bear O’Sullivan’s name.

Reflective songs come in the form of the aforementioned ‘Let Me Know’ – and another instantly memorable standout on Driven – ‘Blue Anchor Bay’, which finds him reflecting upon simpler times, retreating to his teenage years in Swindon and the regular school trips which would see him and his friends head out to the Somerset beach immortalised in the song’s title.

At its core, Driven is an album that offers a nuanced portrait man reaffirming his own values and sense of self in an increasingly chaotic world. Never a conventional songwriter, he perhaps conforms to the description of a British chansonnier, praised by none other than Lenny Kaye – rock scholar and guitarist with the Patti Smith Group – for “songs [that] are artfully constructed, lyrically original with a fine sense of filigree detail.” As with Paul McCartney and the young Harry Nilsson – two songwriters for whom he retains a huge fondness – Gilbert O’Sullivan’s reach extends beyond the parameters of rock’n’roll.

Gilbert O’Sullivan’s career has spanned 50 years. His first single proper ‘Nothing Rhymed’ was released in 1970 and almost overnight it achieved Top 10 status In the UK charts. His debut album Himself was littered with the most perfect examples of his art and craftsmanship. Top 10 singles abounded, including the classic, Alone Again (Naturally). His second album, 1972’s Back To Front, firmly cemented Gilbert amongst the world’s best. This critically acclaimed album topped both the UK and US charts for an astonishing six weeks, earning him not one but three Grammy nominations.

British recognition soon followed with the songs ‘Clair’ and ‘Get Down’ reaching the summit of the UK singles charts and his LP Back To Front topping the album charts. In the same year at the 18th Ivor Novello Awards Gilbert was named ‘Song Writer of the Year’. Through their storytelling, music and aesthetic, the band pulls their listeners into a dark universe of obscure myths, folklore and ancient stories, all the while weaving in often subtle lyrical inspirations from modern societal oppressions and personal demons. Sonically, DEFACING GOD balance massive extreme melodies with a twist of grandiose orchestration by Lars Vinther, echoing the styles of artists such as Cradle of Filth, Carach Angren and Dimmu Borgir. But rather than blend it with a conventional dose of black metal, the band proudly merges these auras with infernal death metal. The EP's six tracks exhibit gentle majesty and lyrical poignancy; six new soundscapes to explore, making for one beautiful collection of music. Underlining the restraint from which Jacques fashions his deft and delicate music, the message here is clear as you journey through the music. Change is the only constant.

“This EP was mostly written and produced from 2020 to late 2021 right in the heart of the pandemic. A lot changed for myself, as it did for mostly everyone. It gave me a new perspective on what I was doing out of habit, and what really inspired me. The one thing that’s ultimately true in life is change. Whatever is happening, good or bad, it’s going to move on," says Rich Jacques.

The solitude of lockdown led him to reflect on his life, realizing that many of the fundamental choices he's made have been based on old habits. A health scare, a change of location and the chance to build his life anew and re-engage with the world, drop old habits and explore new inspirations saw him emerge from this period of his life a changed man. This new EP is the musical document of that period.

Producer, songwriter, guitarist and artist - Rich's envious set of skills has led him to work with a host of notable musicians and to create music for all manner of media projects. Since moving to LA twenty years ago, he's worked with such luminaries as Lisa Loeb, for which he won a Grammy in 2017, and Men at Work’s Colin Hay, his music also being featured in such iconic shows as 'Grey’s Anatomy', 'One Tree Hill' and 'The Vampire Diaries'.

Jacques cut his teeth in the late '90s as a member of Sire Records' alternative rock outfit Brownie Mary and was later a member of 80’s infused alt-pop band Right The Stars, who released three critically and commercially well-received albums. He is also one-half of the songwriting/production team Aalta.

This project as a solo artist comes from a very personal place. Unexpectedly, for someone who understands the art of big, instantaneous and infectious music, Jacques uses only a few core components (guitar and vocals) and few additional musical details to create wonderfully emotive, spacious and drifting music.

In April 2020 guitarist Rafael Trujillo, bassist Linus Klausenitzer and drummer Sebastian Lanser decided to move on from their former band OBSCURA to continue their musical path with the completely new band OBSIDIOUS. Mikey Rotten is everything your parents warned you about. The ferocious punk rapper is a rogue and a force to be reckoned with like few others, a devil-may-care, non-conforming bad boy with a striking look and a singular vision. But what’s maybe most threatening to the establishment about Mikey Rotten is his never-ending drive to challenge authority. More than just rebelling or raging, Mikey Rotten wants his listeners to question everything about the world around us: the rules we’re ordered to follow, the media pumped into our minds, even what we put in our bodies. His music may not be straightforwardly political or intend to deliver a specific agenda, but he’s always pushing back against the systems and structures that want us to conform, and driving his audience to do the same.

In his own words, Mikey Rotten was “born in the swamp, raised in the gutter, and now living out in West Coast paradise.” Conceived in backwoods Louisiana, he came of age amidst the almost post-apocalyptic desolation of the Midwest, and now makes his name in a city of fallen angels.
