Rising Singer-Songwriter Chase Wright Named a Spotify "Hot Country 2022 Artist to Watch"
2021 brought a year of milestones for rising singer-songwriter Chase Wright, including the release of his 10-song debut album Intertwined and kicking off his first-ever headlining tour with Tin Roof all resulting in an overwhelming response from fans discovering his music and streaming it to the tune of 75 million times. Now the Indiana-native adds another highlight to his growing resume earning a place on Spotify’s annual Hot Country Artists to Watch list for 2022.

"In our search for a video producer, we found Martin Goltermann and we quickly shared the same vision for the video; atmospheric shots of sand and the sea reflecting the lyrics and a black-haired woman's journey. As we were in a hurry, Julie had to step in and embody the part of the woman. After two days of shooting by the windy coast and in our cold rehearsal space, Martin wanted to go out again with Julie to get a few final shots. However, it had been snowing during the night and he managed to capture these beautiful shots of Julie gliding through the winter landscape. We loved it so much that we scrapped all the other footage."
Recorded and mixed by Lasse Ballade at Ballade Studios, Copenhagen and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Studio, the new album’s thunderous apocalyptic sound is impossible to escape. Alex Lifeson is no stranger to the concept of evolution. As a founding member of Rush, he’s been able to explore more musical ground than just about any other guitar player out there – taking rock to new progressive heights throughout the decades and always in the most wildly inventive of ways. His influence can be heard on countless bands around the world, from indie shoegaze and math rock to heavy metal and beyond. Over the last few years Lifeson has been focusing on a new project that, no matter how well-acquainted you are with his discography, will undoubtedly shatter all seeds of expectation and blow the mind. That project is Envy Of None.
The new band, also featuring Coney Hatch founder/bassist Andy Curran, accomplished producer and engineer Alfio Annibalini and singer-songwriter Maiah Wynne, will be releasing their self-titled debut album on April 8 via Kscope. Its 11 tracks – which ricochet between various shades of alternative, experimental and synth rock – throw surprises at every turn, twisting dark melodies against contemporary pop hooks. Lifeson himself is proudly aware of how little of it crosses over with the band that made him famous.
However, it was only when singer Maiah Wynne became involved that this truly started to feel like a band destined to go somewhere. Her haunting melodies and soul-baring intensity is – by the admission of her own bandmates – what truly brought this music to life. All things considered; she is a star in the making… “I sent over an early version of the song Shadow,” explains Andy Curran. “When I played what she’d done back to the others they were like, ‘Who is this crazy talented person?!’”
The album’s first single, Liar, is out now. Its industrial beats, driving fuzz bass and atmospheric guitars concoct a seductive swirl indeed – thrilling in ways closer to the darker art rock of Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle than anything these musicians have been known for prior.
“Maiah became my muse,” continues Alex Lifeson. “She was able to bring this whole new ethereal thing through her sense of melody on tracks like Liar and Look Inside. After hearing her vocals on Never Said I Love You, I felt so excited. I’ve never had that kind of inspiration working with another musician. When we say she’s special, it’s because she’s really fucking special!”
“One of my favourite things about these songs is the intimacy of them,” reveals Maiah Wynne. “It makes them feel different and more honest. There are some heavier songs too, like Enemy, and then tracks like Kabul Blues, that sound completely different to anything else.”
The album closer, Western Sunset, which was penned by Alex Lifeson in tribute to his dear friend Neil Peart. It’s a highly emotive piece of music to honour a man deeply missed by the rock community at large, and even more so by those who were lucky enough to know him. “I visited Neil when he was ill,” says Alex Lifeson. “I was on his balcony watching the sunset and found inspiration. There’s a finality about a sunset that kinda stayed with me throughout the whole process. It had meaning. It was the perfect mood to decompress after all these different textures… a nice way to close the book.”
It’s a book you’ll almost certainly want to be reading. Envy Of None’s self-titled album is due for release on April 8 via Kscope.

BLACK WATER RISING Release Music Video For Hard Rocking New Single
New York Stoner Rock veterans BLACK WATER RISING are kicking off the new year with a new single and music video! The band has released a new video for their latest hard-rocking track, titled "Jokes On You". The music video was directed by Tom Flynn (Lamb Of God, All That Remains).
Speaking about the music video, drummer Mike Meselsohn says:
"It was great working with Tom (director) on the video. His vision was for more of a raw stripped-down performance and I believe he really captured the energy and attitude of the song. It's straightforward while still being visually interesting!"
"Jokes On You" is the third single from the band's upcoming studio album, which is set to be released later this year. It also features original guitarist John Fattoruso - who rejoined BWR in late 2019. The new material promises to be more melodic, yet still as riff-heavy as BWR’s previous albums; featuring hooks and catchy choruses to pull you in, all while retaining a musical identity of its own.

NITE Premieres New Single "Archeron"
Blackened heavy metal outfit NITE will be releasing their sophomore full-length, 'Voices of the Kronian Moon,' on March 25, 2022 via Season of Mist, making it the band's debut to the label! The band has partnered up with Metal Injection to premiere their brand new song, "Acheron," which can be heard below.
NITE mainman Van Labrakis comments: “'Acheron' opens our upcoming album and introduces us to the world of Kronian Moon. It's our take on the myth of the ancient river, where Charon led the souls of the dead past the gates of the underworld. In this case the Acheron river is a journey through space and time. A transformation and the beginning of a journey in an ancient alien world."

The San Francisco Bay Area has a history steeped in forward-thinking, technically dazzling metal, and NITE carries that torch with pride. With Avinash Mittur (Wild Hunt) replacing founding bassist Bryan Coons in early 2021, he and drummer Patrick Crawford (Serpents of Dawn, Older Sun) make up a rhythm section that’s fierce yet breathlessly precise: a freewheel pounding reminiscent of the early days of heavy metal, with a Rickenbacker-powered roar fueling the low end. NITE’s debut full-length Darkness Silence Mirror Flame, released in March 2020 by Creator-Destructor Records, earned widespread praise. It showcased their fist-raising classic heavy metal that nearly every fan of the genre once fell in love with, but with a twisted and shadowy edge that the titans of old could never imagine. Following the enormous success of their 2021 co-headline US tour, metal titans MEGADETHand LAMB OF GOD have today announced the second US run of their aptly named METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR. Joining them will be special guests TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES. Tickets for the second leg of THE METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR, produced by Live Nation, will go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday, January 14th from MetalTourOfTheYear.com.
THE METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR was originally announced and planned for 2020 but was halted by the pandemic. Fans waited patiently for touring to return and in the summer of 2021 were granted their wish. THE METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR was one of the first national amphitheater tours to hit the road in 2021 and saw co-headliners MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD hit 29 cities across North America with special guests TRIVIUM and HATEBREED, who stepped in to replace IN FLAMES who couldn’t join the tour due to travel restrictions. The tour was met with enormous acclaim, truly living up to its name and playing to a whopping 172,000 metal fans in the process.

It was over 30 years ago that Dave Mustaine founded MEGADETH, in the process pioneering the sound that would become known the world over as thrash metal. And from the very beginning, the band proved to be the most lethal and audacious unit on the heavy music scene, pushing thrash to the limits of musical ferocity and instrumental virtuosity on early efforts like their 1985 debut, Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good! and 1986’s seminal Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?.
MEGADETH have taken their place as one of metal’s most influential and respected acts—not to mention among its most successful. They have gone on to sell more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including a 2017 GRAMMY® Award for “Best Metal Performance” for the title track “Dystopia,” 12 GRAMMY® nominations, and scoring five consecutive platinum albums. LAMB OF GOD propelled heavy metal into the new millennium two decades ago with the prophetically titled New American Gospel. They followed with 2003’s As the Palaces Burn, which made the Rolling Stone list of the Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. Ashes of the Wake, released in 2004, was the first LAMB OF GOD album to be certified gold by the RIAA, as was 2006’s Sacrament, which also made a Top 10 Billboard 200 chart debut. In 2009, LAMB OF GOD released Wrath, their first with Josh Wilbur as producer, and earned the number one album spot on Billboard’s Hard Rock, Rock, and Tastemaker charts, with a number two position on the Billboard 200.
Those number one positions were repeated with 2012’s Resolution, which swung effortlessly between thrash, traditional metal, sludgy doom, with flashes of crust punk swagger and bravado. LAMB OF GOD’s last album, VII: Sturm und Drang (2015) made its debut on the Billboard 200 at number three and finished number 2 in the world charts, reaching Top 5 in five countries and six additional Top 15 positions. The single “512” was nominated for a GRAMMY® Award for “Best Metal Performance”, the band’s fifth nomination.
In 2020 LAMB OF GOD released their critically acclaimed self-titled opus, the band's best work to date, featuring new drummer Art Cruz, LAMB OF GOD is re-energized and unrelenting, ready to lay claim to the metal throne.
TRIVIUM’s tenth album In The Court Of The Dragon arrived in 2021. The band and album have been praised by and featured in mainstream outlets like The New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Billboard, TechCrunch, and Kotaku, as well as Guitar World, Revolver, Alternative Press, and more. They released the now-canonical album Ascendancy in 2005. It was recognized as KERRANG!'s "Album of the Year," achieved a gold certification in the UK, and eclipsed sales of 500,000 worldwide. Metal Hammer placed it in the Top 15 of "The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of the 21st Century." Unanimous acclaim followed from Decibel, Loudwire, Ultimate Guitar, MetalSucks, and Metal Hammer, who dubbed them, "quite simply one of the best bands in modern metal." 2020 brought What The Dead Men Say. The album was produced by Trivium and Josh Wilbur and debuted at #35 on the Billboard Top 200; at #2 on the Top Current Albums Chart, and at #3 on both the Hard Rock Albums Chart and Top Rock Albums Chart. Nine years after the release of In Darkness, German dark metal frontrunners AGATHODAIMON set the stage for their long-awaited comeback – the bittersweet seventh studio album, The Seven, out March 18, 2022 via Napalm Records. AGATHODAIMON’s exceptional new strike maintains the old-school spirit of its predecessor, but can’t be pigeonholed due to its dynamic and widespread musical styles, evoking a gloomy atmosphere fueled by sharp growls, epic clear vocals and a gripping, exceptional sonic universe.
Formed in 1995 and entering the scene with their debut, Blacken the Angel, in 1998, bandleader Sathonys was temporarily forced to put AGATHODAIMON on hold in 2014 due to private circumstances. But the irrevocable fire of the band and their fans never went out, seeking a reawakening of this sonic, seething beast.

AGATHODAIMON's massive new outburst, The Seven, reveals extreme soundscapes amid a captivating concoction of evil, provoking, cutting dark metal and heroic symphonic black metal in the style of bands like Cradle of Filth and Carach Angren, but with their unique and very own multifaceted take. Thematically, as hinted by the album’s title, the full-length is centered around the momentous and symbolically powerful number seven and the seven deadly sins - sloth, greed, lust, gluttony, pride, wrath, envy - on ten tracks total, all addressed with religious topics that contrast with human beings and its original nature.

Diving into this exciting construct with opener “La Haine”, the track lures the listener into the freezing, dark world of AGATHODAIMON, produced by long-time companion Kristian “Kohle” Bonifer (Aborted, Powerwolf, Hämatom amongst others), by building up a dense wall of thunderous sound, accented by a multifaceted vocal interpretation. JAMES GUNN TAPS NASHVILLE P***Y FOR ‘PEACEMAKER’ PREMIERE EPISODE ON HBOMAX
When director James Gunn was looking for a truly rocking and raunchy song to include as part of the upcoming ‘Peacemaker’ show on HBOMAX (starring WWE wrestler John Cena as the role of Christopher Smith/Peacemaker), he couldn’t have made a better selection than the Nashville Pussy classic, “Come On Come On.”
It appears that Gunn is a fan of The Pussy, in a Twitter exchange between mutual friend actor Earl W. Brown (‘Deadwood,’ ‘Something About Mary’), Gunn admitted to personally choosing the Grammy-nominated Nashville Pussy and song “Come On Come On” for the ‘Peacemaker’ series, and texted “It has great placement in the first episode.”
The first episode, entitled ‘A Whole New Whirled,’ premieres on Thursday, January 13, 2022, and the song (which was originally included on the band’s 2005 album, ‘Get Some!’) will also be included as part of the show’s official Spotify playlist this week.
The release of the official Red Band trailer for ‘Peacemaker’ (https://www.hbomax.com/coming-soon/peacemaker) perfectly coincides with the release of Nashville Pussy’s latest album, ‘Eaten Alive’ (of which the CD was issued on December 24th, and the double gatefold vinyl on January 14th). Recorded in the UK, this is Nashville Pussy’s ‘Live at Leeds’ and one of most unrelenting concert albums since Motörhead’s ‘No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith.’

Following his debut songs “You Got A Small Town” and “Baby I Am,” fast-rising star Dalton Dover readies fans for standout year in Country music, earning a spot on Spotify’s Hot Country 2022 Artists to Watch and continuing the Georgia-native’s momentum from notable playlisting, critical acclaim and attention from fellow artists in 2021.

“We were sitting at the house on a Friday night and Faith started tossing out songs for me to sing and she happened to be filming it,” Dover elaborates. “It’s now one of our favorite things to do, toss out songs we love from artists we admire and see how we can mash them up with the music I've been creating.”

About Dalton Dover
Twenty-three-year-old Dalton Dover first started singing at church as a kid, winning his fifth-grade school talent show performing Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” In that moment Dover’s love of performing was born. By the age of 16 he had picked up a guitar and started teaching himself to play, yet it was his grandfather who turned him on to country music and artists such as Keith Whitley, Rhett Akins, Joe Diffie and Steve Wariner. Enamored with the honesty and storytelling found in country music, Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes” was the first song Dover taught himself to play on guitar. Performances at local bars soon followed along with sharing covers of some of his favorite songs on TikTok. It was there he caught the ear of producer Matt McV and A&R Veteran and founder of Droptine Recordings, Jim Catino, who quickly signed Dover.
Married to his high school sweetheart, Faith, the two have lived in the same rural Georgia small town, population 1,200, all their lives, important for the Dovers to give their two young children, Taylon and Alyiah, the same idyllic childhood they had growing up — the life one finds in a small town. And it’s that pace and familiarity he enjoys so much that he sings about on his debut track “You Got a Small Town,” produced by McV and available now on Droptine.
