Ohio, USA based project UNTAMED LAND – the world’s very first metal band incorporating the feral sounds of classic, old western cinematics – recently announced its sophomore release, Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms, scheduled for release via Napalm Records on October 8, 2021.

Today, following soaring recent single, “Clothed In Smoke”, UNTAMED LAND has revealed a second single, entitled "A Nameless Shape", alongside an official music video. The track blends ghostly acoustics, doom-drenched riffs and icy screams as it cascades into a wave of blast beats, rhythmic guitars and operatic accent vocals, making it one of the key epics on the record!

Project mastermind Patrick Kern says about the track:

"With a thundering march-like drum pattern and aggressive full chord guitar strumming, the first two minutes of this song set the stage for the rest of the album. The lyrics tell a tale of isolation and spiritual crisis set against the backdrop of the mythical Old West. This video only serves as a teaser however, and you will have to pick up the album itself to see how the story for this song ends."

While exploring influence and nuances from various strains of atmospheric metal, UNTAMED LAND traverses wild new frontiers – evoking the ambiance of classic Ennio Morricone/Spaghetti Western soundtracks and traditional old western instrumentals. While some listeners may be quick to label this a purely black metal album before diving into its depths, this description only scratches the surface.

UNTAMED LAND mastermind, composer and sole performer of all instruments (except for accented violin performances by Rita Torrens and vocal contributions by Caroline Joy and Jacob Wherley), Patrick Kern, was initially inspired by what he describes as pagan, cosmic and even “doomy” black metal when writing the album, but the material bloomed in a way that is much more multifaceted to be categorized so singularly.

Patrick Kern adds about the album:

“I would hesitate to call this a black metal album. It's meant to be a cinematic journey into a dark and fantastical old west setting, and various genres and sounds are used to bring that story to life. Lyrically, whereas the previous album dealt with the eternal struggle of the solar hero, this time we delve into a sort of gnostic "Beauty and the Beast" story, ultimately revolving around the feminine role in creation and the tension between the world of matter and the world of forms.

The album ended up reflecting my own spiritual journey that occurred all throughout the writing and production process. I had a great time experimenting with many different styles and sounds for this release and am excited to share this new chapter in the UNTAMED LAND world!"

"Blue Eyed Christ’s lyrics often lend themselves to various interpretations. Upon reviewing the song, I was struck by the multiple directions his words could be decoded into themes relevant throughout past, present and future. I started to researching old government PSA’s, self-promoting manufacturing films & proto-infomercials throughout history in order to locate slices of “civilized” culture which could be utilized for illustrating the various concepts suggested within the lyrics of this song. People dance around their possessions, celebrating their ability to consume while governments utilize the same raw materials to build machines of surveillance & war.

Now with the advent of cell phone cameras, social media, internet spambots, propaganda farms & the increasing ease of access to such tools (and the resulting misinformation being generated and digested on a minute-by-minute basis), society sails further and faster into this hall of mirrors - gleefully making images of our lives to convince each other that opinions are more valuable than truth, feelings more important than fact, that we’re all doing just fine/not-fine, civilization is ticking along nicely/not-nicely - reveling in shortsighted, personal agendas... while outside, the world burns. Blue Eyed Christ is the Electronic Industrial Rock project of established Producer/Engineer John D. Norten. John has worked with many of the biggest artists in music helping them achieve their visions (Prince, Fergie, Lady Gaga, Dr. Dre).

In contrast, Blue Eyed Christ is 100% John’s artistic vision in the studio. That vision is the visceral combination of heavy electronic industrial rock mixed with personal lyrics and just the right balance of hooks and noise. Blue Eyed Christ is the combination of John’s experimental Chicago Trax background mixed with the pop and polished sheen he brings to other Artists. 
In 1991, while still in his teens, Chicago's John D. Norten signed his first international recording contract under the band name Blue Eyed Christ to famed Belgian EBM label KK Records. The first Album, Leaders + Followers, was released that same year. Blue Eyed Christ still enjoys a loyal following today and Leaders +Followers is considered an EBM classic.

In 1995 John recorded the second Blue Eyed Christ Album, Crash, while working at Chicago Trax Recording Studios. At the same time he assembled an intense live band that helped further create a buzz throughout the music industry.

2002 saw the release of the third Blue Eyed Christ album, American Whore, with a new Los Angeles Live band taking on the underground club circuit.

With a new studio savvy, 2014 saw the release of A Rush and a Thrill, a whirlwind ride straight into the world of Blue Eyed Christ. Eric Zimmerman(Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry) directed the decadent “Freakshow” concept video short recorded on Halloween of that year.

A chance meeting at an art event in 2015 led to the formation of Trash Deitywith Groovie Man (My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult). Metropolis Recordscaught wind and released the debut Trash Deity Album, Cross & Divide, Sept 2018.

Brooklyn-based Pas Musique present their new single 'Don Cheadle Superhero', a smooth flowing futuristic motorik journey of a track, ahead of heir new full-length album 'Amateur Radio'. With six new electronic, experimental krautrock-influenced tracks, it will be available on white vinyl and digitally via NYC-based label Alrealon Musique.

Not long ago, the band unveiled a glitchy and eerie audio-visual trip for lead track 'Ancient Scottish Legend'. Jeanne-Marie Varain, artist and daughter of Jean-Herve Peron of FAUST, also collaborates on a cover of 'It’s a Rainy Day, Sunshine Girl'. This Faust cover, developed in 2019 for the 'KRAUT! Covered' compilation curated by WFMU’s DJ Scott Williams.

The 'Amateur Radio' LP is mirrored by the same broadcasting term, using the radio frequency spectrum for purposes of non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, private recreation, radio-sport, contesting, and emergency communication.

This album was inspired by the collective's U.S. tour in 2019 and recorded shortly after at Pas Musique headquarters in Brooklyn and mixed by All Real Sound. The tracks are dense and textured, mixing in field recordings captured during that U.S. tour.

Pas Musique was founded by Robert L. Pepper in 1995 as a solo project around abstract sound. It has since morphed into a collective that has gone through many variations of experimental, electronic iterations. In The A.M. is an Alternative/Metal & Rock band based out of Indiana, US. Members have come and gone over the last couple of years with the only consistent members being Alex Shimp and Kerry Mills, who founded the group in 2018. Since 2018, the band has released multiple singles including: "World On Fire" and "My Sins" in 2018 and 2019. These two tracks specifically helped the band grow a local fanbase in their home state of Indiana. Through multiple lineup changes, the music has remained consistent both lyrically and musically with the only real change in sound being more modern production & instrumentation. Shimp has served as the primary songwriter and vocalist since the bands' inception in 2018. The music is constantly evolving, almost telling a story through the growth in songwriting and overall quality. While writing the EP "What Have I Become", midway through the recording process of the 8 song project, COVID began to arise as a global issue in 2020. OPETH ANNOUNCES FALL 2021 CO-HEADLINE TOUR WITH MASTODON

Sweden's iconic rock/metal titans OPETH will return to North America this fall for a tour with fellow masters of prog-metal MASTODON. Announced today, the bands will embark with special opening guests ZEAL & ARDOR on a two-week tour kicking off in Asheville, NC on November 16th and wrapping in Denver, CO on December 5th.

Following the release of their latest, critically acclaimed record "In Cauda Venenum," OPETH's touring was unfortunately cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Enuff Z’nuff are the living, breathing example of what a rock ‘n roll group should be. Now centered around bass player and vocalist Chip Z’nuff, Enuff Z’nuff are still delivering the band’s patented power pop melded with hard rock stylings. Originally formed in 1984 in Chicago, IL, the band received their big break in 1989 when they signed to Atco/Atlantic Records. Founding members, Chip Z'Nuff and Donnie Vie were joined by guitarist Derek Frigo and drummer Vikki Foxx and they commenced work on their major label debut. Ferocious and uncompromising in their execution, CARCASS’s ability to intricately dissect the innards of death metal, and display them for us to sonically understand has been their point of excellence for over three decades. In 2019 the band released their first single in over 5 years “Under The Scalpel Blade,” followed by a 4 song EP entitled Despicable (October 2020), setting a potent precedent for the full length album coming in September: "Torn Arteries." With the album title itself referencing an old demo created by original drummer Ken Owen back in the 80’s, "Torn Arteries" sits as a bookend on the modern side of the CARCASS discography, connecting directly back to where everything began over 30 years ago.

The album artwork also rings reminiscent of the grotesque photography that appears on classic CARCASS album covers like "Reek Of Putrefaction" of "Symphonies of Sickness." Artist Zbigniew Bielak traveled outside his normal wheelhouse to bring forth a time lapsed set of photos showing vegetables shaped like a heart, rotting over time upon a white plate. This form of artwork was influenced by Japanese Kusôzu, meaning: ‘painting of the nine stages of a decaying corpse.’

“It’s very clean, white, which we’ve never done before,” explains vocalist and bassist Jeff Walker, “it doesn’t look evil, or typically death metal, but I like how clean it is; almost like a coffee table book.” This new album presents images, lyrics, and sounds that so distinctly scream CARCASS, but ferry us into a new era of production, songwriting, and art all together.

“I think as our 7th album, it does stand out from the others both sonically and stylistically,” says Walker. “You can definitely tell that it’s CARCASS; when you drop that needle on the vinyl, when you hear that guitar tone, you can tell it’s Bill Steer, but each album is always a product of its time.”

With "Torn Arteries," each track stands unique from the rest in its approach to guitar, bass, vocals and drumming, along with all the finer details. Filthy and dominating guitar work creates thick layers of tone and melody, piling on top of each other like the weight of dead flesh in tracks like “Kelly’s Meat Emporium.”

“The working title for Kelly’s was originally ‘Stock Carcass,’” laughs Walker. “We knew that one was a real meat and potatoes track for the album.” Meanwhile the elevated speed and catchy beat in “Dance of Ixtab” tell a robust and airier story, one that is certain to get a reaction from live crowds. “We built this song around the beat. We had an approach to each song that was a definite idea. It’s all about ‘what haven’t we done before?’”

Recording and Production for "Torn Arteries" wasn’t as simple as sitting down for a few weeks and knocking it all out, but rather spread out over the course of approximately 1 year bouncing back and forth between England and Sweden. Initially, drummer Daniel Wilding did session work in Sweden at Studio Gröndahl with David Castillo while guitars were recorded at The Stationhouse with James Atkinson in Leeds, England. Eventually needing some form of residential location to finalize vocals, bass, and other guitarwork, the band headed back to studio Gröndahl in Sweden to continue work in a very relaxed atmosphere with Castillo. “There was no real big plan to do it this way, the process just organically grew on its own,” says Walker.

Most will find that the only real struggle when indulging in "Torn Arteries" is fighting the desire to start it over the second it finishes. It covers substantial new ground for a band with such a reputation, while still retaining that addictive, time honored CARCASS sound that has come to represent the face of true death metal.

From the fertile grounds of Tilburg (NL) rises new contemporary metal outfit AUTARKH, a group of musical extremists dedicated to pushing the boundaries of the auditory senses. Autarkh is the brainchild of Michel Nienhuis, founding member and composer/guitarist of DODECAHEDRON. Dodecahedron released 2 albums on the French record label Season Of Mist in 2012 and 2017 and has played at Inferno festival (NO), Reykjavík Metalfest (IS) Brutal Assault (CZ), Roadburn Festival (NL) and Eurosonic (NL) amongst others.

Death and illness was closing in on Dodecahedron, triggering a conceptual transformation that was necessary to effectuate Nienhuis’ artistic development. In the fall of 2019 Nienhuis teamed up with producer Joris Bonis (Dodecahedron, Ulsect), guitarist David Luiten and electronic composer / producer Tijnn Verbruggen, a set of musicians with backgrounds ranging from metal to techno. Autarkh’s first full length album ‘Form In Motion’ will be released the 12th of March 2021 through Season of Mist records.

AUTARKH takes a unique position in the world of extreme metal. Synthetic, IDM-style beats and glitch effects - reminiscent of those produced by artists such as Aphex Twin and Autechre - are perfectly balanced with overwhelming riffs and vocals that range from dark growls and exasperating screams to semi-clean harmonies. Together with fluttering blast beats, dense bass lines and eerie soundscapes these elements produce an intense and crystal clear tunnel of sound where the energy of contrasting emotions is constantly felt.

‘Form In Motion’ feels like an evolution in both sound and lyrical content from the two albums Nienhuis released with Dodecahedron. Musically, because of the radical approach the band takes with their rhythm section; lyrically because the album is more about a personal experience of human nature and the nature of the universe. The album takes us from unraveling storms and destructive chaos to transformation, liberation and fundamental shifts in understanding in order to align with the divine. GEARS RELEASES THEIR LATEST SINGLE/VIDEO "WASTELAND"

Miami, FL - GEARS releases their next single/video (9/10) "Wasteland". What is music and where would we be if the music was not in a constant state of reinvention? What GEARS continues to bring to their listeners is what the pulse of music needs to keep the machine in a progressive beat. "Wasteland" encapsulates the pushing forward and reawakening that is the motivation in finding that place where metal, R&B, hip-hop, and alternative meld firmly to complete a sound that is notably known as GEARS.

Drummer Jimmy Wooten relays it best in the level of energy and sound GEARS delivers again and again: “There’s something for everyone,” observes Jimmy. “It’s heavy. It’s soulful. It’s melodic. The band’s versatility is our strength. We’ll bring R&B and hip-hop into rock, but we’re doing it in our own tight and cohesive way.”

And what more could you ask from music than a sound the brings all rockers together to love what they are hearing?

Regarding how "Wasteland" came together, “It just hit," Trip Sixx stated. "It came together really quickly, and we clicked with Dawson on all fronts.”

With Dawson behind the board, they completed their 2021 single “Wasteland”. On the track, airy electronics give way to head-nodding drums and chugging guitars. In addition, Trip’s soulful cadence twists and turns through the beats before culminating in the catchy chorus, “Save me, locked in a cage, and I can’t get out.” brought the single full circle. Trip continued, “It’s about being trapped in a mindset you don’t see any way out of,” the frontman states.

“It encompasses a lot of things,” drummer Jimmy Wooten elaborates. “It’s easy to become trapped in continuous circles in life where

you’re doing the same things over and over again. As a band, you have to reach outside of the box, work with someone new, try something different, and change the sound. Following the Pandemic, it’s like a rebirth for GEARS in a weird way, so we decided to push the envelope.”

They won’t stop pushing the envelope either. For as much as Gears urge rock to evolve, they also elicit a classic reaction.

“When you leave a concert, we want you to feel like it was worth it,” Trip leaves off. “We want you to bop, jump, yell, scream, and do it all. We try to give listeners this gratification.”

“We hit you with as many emotions as possible,” agrees Jimmy. “Maybe a song will affect you and connect on a deeper level—or you’ll be able to simply bounce to it. This is meant to spark a physical and emotional reaction.”

Earlier this year, Napalm Records presented the next chapter in psychedelic rock icons MONSTER MAGNET’s rabbit hole deep dive, A Better Dystopia (out now) – a delightfully (and psychotically) curated collection of 60’s and 70’s proto-metal and late-era psych obscurities covered by the heavy New Jersey legends themselves. A Better Dystopia sees the band pay homage to some of their favorite songs of all time, while reflecting on the paranoia, dystopia and revolution of both now – and then.

“I’m a huge fan of The Scientists and I just love the hell out of this song. It’s hypnotic, dark and sexual with a unique and amazing groove. In a cooler world we’d hear stuff like this blasting out of everyone’s speakers. I’d love to hear Billie Eilish take a crack at this one…,” says frontman Dave Wyndorf.

Regarding the video, he continues, “Joe Tait’s art is so damned interesting… Where else can one find Hieronymus Bosch, Pam Grier, Cold War Soviet monuments, the Dr. Strangelove war room, astronauts, dinosaurs AND rockers all in the same video?”

Wyndorf is at the top of his game on A Better Dystopia, delivering each lyric in his own inimitable style, and musicians Phil Caivano, Bob Pantella, Garrett Sweeney and Alec Morton own the sound – vintage and old school, dense and heavy, with searing fuzz leads and pounding bass and drums all played in a deft style that's almost been lost in modern music. The album opens with “The Diamond Mine”, as Dave Wyndorf recites a classic monologue by Dave Diamond, an American radio DJ whose programs in the late 60’s and early 70’s helped popularize many psychedelic and acid rock bands. At this point the real trip begins, as the opening chords of the Hawkwind classic “Born To Go” gear up for launch. Tracks like standout “Mr. Destroyer” (Poo-Bah) spur visions of some untold Freak revolution – or perhaps dinosaurs battling on a burning planet at the end of time – creating a perfect blend of hard rock and psychedelia. Feverish “Motorcycle (Straight To Hell)” (Table Scraps) is pure punk fury of the old school tradition, evoking a cross between Iggy Pop and Motörhead as Wyndorf wails "I'm gonna drive it straight to HELL!" Falling even further down the mind-bending rabbit hole, Magnet offers their stunning, whirlwind take on the often-overlooked hard rock classic "Learning To Die" (Dust) and a masterful version the Stooges meets Goth epic, "Solid Gold Hell" (The Scientists). The album closes with a bonus nuclear cover of Morgen’s “Welcome To The Void”, inviting you to restart the ride again and again.

Brighton-based Nick Hudson, a solo artist in his own right and also frontman of The Academy of Sun, will release his new 'K69996ROMA:EP' on September 15, for which he presents a music film for lead track 'The Ballad Of K69996 Roma'.

'The Ballad Of K69996 Roma' transposes a conscience upon the slick Alfa Romeo car that was owned by and weaponised in the 1975 murder of queer Marxist filmmaker, poet and essayist Pier Paolo Pasolini. This is echoed in the astonishing video by Brighton-based filmmaker Adrian Goycoolea.

This single was originally found on the 'Font Of Human Fractures' album, released earlier this year - Hudson's first album in five years and his first solo studio LP since 'Ganymede In A State Of War' (2016).

"K69996ROMA:EP' is the shadow cast in the desert by the brutalist garret of 'Font Of Human Fractures' – like 'Amnesiac' to its 'Kid A', if you will. This takes the Pasolini-inspired 'The Ballad Of K69996 Roma' from that record and refracting it through a prism of gay communist black metal chamber electronica," says Nick Hudson.

"While cinema has always been pivotal to my work, it's never been stronger than here, with references to Alain Delon, French cine-essayist Chris Marker, and the aforementioned Pier Paolo Pasolini, scattered throughout."

The EP consists of 8 diverse tracks, including 'Asymmetric: A Forgery', a track that was originally composed and recorded for 'Font Of Human Fractures, but was omitted due to running time restrictions on the vinyl edition. 'The Florist', co-written with Kianna Blue (The Academy of Sun), proposes a kind of metaphysical tabula rasa, as the protagonist self-immolates in a flower shop, and ascends.

"Channeling Pasolini's communism, and the contradictions within his own 'brand' of it - alongside my own contemporarily-heightened anxieties and allegiances - the political angles are sharper on this release than on others. As such it felt right to include my interpretation of Robert Wyatt's beautiful 'Amber And The Ambergrines' in the set," says Nick Hudson.

Nick Hudson is a prolific figure on the UK underground music scene. Apart from fronting art-rock band The Academy Of Sun, who released their dystopian epic 'The Quiet Earth' last year to critical acclaim, Nick's vast output also encompasses painting, film, and a recently-completed novel.

Hudson has also collaborated with Wayne Hussey (The Mission) and Matthew Seligman (Bowie, Tori Amos, Morrissey), members of Kayo Dot, David Tibet (Current 93), Asva and queercore icon GB Jones. As The Academy Of Sun, he's also collaborated with Massive Attack's Shara Nelson. Having toured 3 continents, highlights include appearances with Mogwai, Toby Driver and Keith Abrams (Kayo Dot), and Timba Harris (Mr Bungle, Amanda Palmer).

'K69996ROMA:EP' will be released digitally and as a hyper-limited edition 4-panel CD digipak of 50 copies, 25 of which will be presented in an ACAB-silkscreened metallic gold envelope, with a bonus track in the form of a score booklet, printed on Nepalese floral paper and featuring an original miniature artwork by Nick Hudson. SPURGE Release True to Life, Covid Informed Official Music Video for "57"

New EP, Crown, Out NOW!

Atlanta, GA based, Alternative Rock band SPURGE has released the official music video for "57," off of their newest EP, Crown. Produced and directed by Daniel Medina, "57" was inspired by the internationally experienced isolation during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns and features stylized imagery of the individual band members' lives as they continue through an uncertain "new normal."

"’57’ is a song about whether or not we have any control over our fate. Inspired by COVID keeping the band stuck in their homes for about a year, it comes from a feeling of slowly losing our grips and becoming somewhat numb. For about 6 months prior to writing the song, our bassist (Jen Hodges) kept seeing the number 57 everywhere. Initially, freaked out by the repetition, she thought it was an omen of bad things to come; ultimately, she decided to write a song about it in order to work out her apparent superstitions and flip her mind into viewing it as a good omen." - SPURGE

The band's most recent EP, Crown, was mixed by Dom Gryzbon and includes solos by Phil Vasta, Nick Landt, Charles Von Kanel and Greg Hendler. An album release party is being organized for a Fall 2021 date in Atlanta, GA.

Spurge started in Nashville 2013 when Jen (bass) started writing instrumental music for her own amusement. She felt she had found her voice sonically during the creation of "The Untitled EP" and decided to play a few local live shows. She recruited the drummer in her previous band, a local metal guitarist and a jazz college student. They were received warmly in the scene. In 2015 Jen got a promotion and moved to Atlanta. She had to rebuild the band. She kept the same formula. Gospel drummer, metal guitarist, and jazz guitarist, This current iteration has played with Thank You Scientist, and Tony McAlpine. When COVID hit, the group recorded their latest, Crown. They are planning a secret show this fall in Atlanta to celebrate the release of Crown. They are also releasing a video for the EP's first single, 57 this fall. The current line up is Jen on bass (Berklee grad, gigging musician.) Charles on guitar (gigging musician, gear head and tech wizard.) Marlon on drums (musical family, marching band, gospel, R&B.) Ben on lead guitar (gigging musician, shreddy Krueger.)

Polish black metal band MISANTHUR will be releasing their debut record 'Ephemeris' on October 15, via Season of Mist Underground Activists! The band is now premiering the second single from the record, "On the Heights of Despair." Listen below.

MISANTHUR comments: The second single 'On the Heights of Despair' was inspired by the book with the same title, written by one of the most prominent philosophers of nihilism - Emil Cioran. The dark, heavy and eerie atmosphere is intertwined with the soothing yet cruel cathartic moment. The song expresses the loathing of the passing time but also shows the dimmed fire of hope in one's mundane existence, which is perfectly connected with the full concept of the upcoming debut album, 'Ephemeris.'"

The two prophets collected under the banner of MISANTHUR herald the fall and spiritual putridity of humanity by creating art resonating fully with pain, anxiety and degradation. Founded in Częstochowa, Poland in one night in 2015 by Hellscythe and Draugr, MISANTHUR begun to take form.

Inspired by metal and non-metal genres, MISANTHUR merge trance percussion, earthbreaking bass, crushing guitars and hellish vocals with (post)apocalyptic ambient landscapes and noise to create its own oeuvre and paint the stories and scenery of mundane spiritual wasteland.

The band’s debut record ‘Ephemeris’ was written with the aim of capturing the concept of personal degradation, one’s own journey into the deepest corners of consciousness, one’s own weaknesses, fears, and monsters hidden in ego and identity, in the context of the fragility and evanescence nature of human life.

Legendary guitarist Steve Hackett, has released his new studio rock album Surrender of Silence via Inside Out Music. The album features 11 new songs as Steve has been working hard through Lockdown and, for the first time, has completed two studio albums for release within the same year!

Marking both the release of the new album, as well as the beginning of his UK tour, a video for the track ‘Scorched Earth’ can be seen below.

Our journey takes us from the classical orchestrations of Russia (Natalia) to the plains of Africa (Wingbeats) to mysterious Eastern shores (Shanghai To Samarkand), all via the ocean’s depths (Relaxation Music for Sharks (featuring feeding frenzy)). The Devil’s Cathedral pools the talents of Hackett’s entire touring band and features King’s atmospheric Gothic organ and a powerhouse rhythm display from Blundell and Reingold.

Hackett’s vocals have never been bettered and his duet with Amanda Lehmann adds emotion to Scorched Earth a lament for the environmental horrors facing our planet. Throughout Hackett’s guitars add a rich tapestry of colour with soaring solos and intricate weaving melodies.

About Steve Hackett

Steve Hackett joined Genesis at the beginning of 1971 and gained an international reputation as the guitarist in the band’s classic line-up alongside Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins. Hackett’s intricate guitar work was a key element of Genesis’ albums from Nursery Cryme (1971) to Wind And Wuthering (1977) including the classic Selling England By The Pound.

After leaving Genesis at the end of 1977, Hackett’s solo career, which now spans more than 30 albums, has demonstrated his extraordinary versatility with both electric and acoustic guitar. Hackett is renowned as both an immensely talented and innovative rock musician and a virtuoso classical guitarist and composer and this was recognised in 2010 when he was inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame. He has also worked alongside Steve Howe of YES in the supergroup GTR.

Hackett’s compositions take influences from many genres, including jazz, classical and blues. For his later studio works The Night Siren (2017) and At The Edge Of Light (2019) Hackett has explored the influences of world music. Recent tours have seen Hackett celebrate his time with Genesis including a spectacular 2018 tour in which he realized a long-held ambition to perform the works of Genesis live with his band and an orchestra.

The lockdown enforced by the 2020 global pandemic has proven to be a particularly creative period for Hackett. He began by releasing Selling England by the Pound & Spectral Mornings: Live at Hammersmith, a live recording of 2019’s hugely successful tour celebrating that Genesis classic together with the 40th anniversary of one of his most-loved solo albums. Lockdown also gave Hackett the opportunity to write and record two new studio albums, the UK Classical Chart hit Under A Mediterranean Sky and the forthcoming Surrender of Silence.
